Here's what I got to today:

Cleaned up and optimized the Who's Online code a lot. The value(s) in the Main Menu, Who's Online page, Friend Lists, and Profile pages are all synched up. When you log in or out you're instantly marked on or off line.

Added the new page, Favorite Journals to the Main Menu. This is a replacement for the section that was in the lower right hand column.

Fixed up The Top page... Or rather, stripped some categories. Some of you won't be happy with this, but it needed to be done. It was becoming too processor intensive to cross-check so much data. The categories that remain are the most important in my opinion, and also happen to require the least CPU to compute. This page is now updated at 42 minutes past each hour.

Added Status Tables to the Status System page. You can now see what is required for each Status advancement.

Added to the Update Your Status page. You will now see exactly where you rank in each category, and how it fits together to create your final Status score.

Made it so that all users can see who closed any thread.

Added a new function to strip certain HTML codes from the Location, Quote, and Website slots in user profiles. Members were improperly putting HTML code in these areas and it was messing up their profiles.

Many of the enhancements I made today will result in faster page loading. However, every time I add more capacity we just end up seeing more members online at once... And that capacity disappears. Today at one point I saw over 150 members logged in. Sunday's are usually pretty slow.

The Forum needs a total overhaul. It's what is hogging CPU and slowing down the rest of the site. This is no small task and I am not looking forward to it. A near total re-write is required. I've already worked out much of the code logic, but it will take a while to implement.

The work you have done on the site yesterday was fierce, thankyou so much for the time, and quality of work you put in here.

Well, there are 3 primary things that are slowing the Forum down.

Unlimited thread length.

Page tracking (keeping track of what every single member has and hasn't seen).

Thread sorting (keeping the newest threads on top).

I'm not going to do anything about the first problem. I could... I could make Forum messages break up into several smaller pages. But I hate posting boards that do this. It makes it a pain in the ass to get to the replies you haven't seen. So we'll just continue to close threads that get long.

The second item is the biggie. I've figured out a more efficient manner in which to keep track of what each user has viewed. I've also figured out a way to optimize the code relating to the third problem.
