Okay I know some of you have used one, some of you won't touch one, and some of you just dismiss the idea all together. I have one that I haven't used in a very long time. Just because I have no desire too, not because I don't believe or out of fear, I just have no " drawn" feeling to it.

Heres a few things you should be aware of if using one.

SOme people say that it is just your sub-concious that moves the planchette ( pointer).

The Automatism Theory
The clinical term is "ideomotor response." You may not realize that you are moving the message indicator, but you are. This is similar to automatic writing, also known as automatism, a well-understood psychological phenomenon. A spirit medium, in years past, would hold a pencil in one hand and pay no attention as it wrote furiously. Some believed that these written messages came from the spirits. Others felt that the messages came from a clever medium. At any rate, most proponents of the Automatism Theory think that it is very possible to move the planchette unconsciously. They claim that the Ouija board opens a kind of shortcut from the conscious to the subconscious mind. Collective automatism occurs when more than one person is operating the board.

Some people think that its spirits that actually talk throught the board to contact people.

The Spiritualist Theory
Ouija messages obviously come from forces beyond our control. You contact or "channel" these entities through the board. They are discarnate spirits, ghosts, or other ethereal beings who have a purpose for contacting the living. Many advocates of the Spiritualist Theory think that there is no harm in contacting the other realm because most spirits are basically benign and have important information to share. A few of these same advocates will perform elaborate cleansing rituals before using the board, just in case they run into a stinker. Other Spiritualist Theory supporters, often religious fundamentalists, believe that no one should ever use the Ouija board. Malevolent forces may masquerade as good and cause emotional damage, even death to the user of the board. They offer as proof the many accounts of spirit possession reported by "experts" on the occult and demonology.


Iknow I have had some very off the wall experiences with an Ouija board. I will share them later when I see how this thread works out.

I do not like it but.
I used to ask questions about my future,and they told me always different answers.
However once was right,but only once.
And no it's not you who moves it but something/one cause when I did alone I felt like some calamite from under the floor.

I have heard many off the wall, but scary experiences with the ouija board, so I won't go near one whether they are true stories or not.

I have never used a ouija board, nor do i have any desire to use one. I belive that they do have a certain amount of power, and that you can chanel things from the "other side" with them. However, i dont think that things like that should be messed around with by experimenting teenagers on Halloween, or some crack case who's board lol. Its a thing that can open doors of oportunity for spirits ( good or bad) to interact with the world of the living. I do believe that it can lead to possession, and or events of misfortune. I've known people who have done it, out of sheer curiosity, and they regreted doing it. So i tend to mind my own business, keep my nose clean so to say, and not dable in such things. :) Good thread by the way Countess;)

I've always had such an interest in things like ouija boards. I'm not sure why. I guess since it just seems so strange, and I seem to be drawn to the unknown. It excites me. Curiousity is sparked... Of course, they do say that curiousity killed the cat. Maybe that will be my downfall? But anyway... I've never used an ouija board before, but I do feel the desire of trying one out at least once. ^_^ Just to see what happens. Then maybe I'll know what to think of them.

I have no clue about them...but I am willing to believe that whatever communication there is by means of one is possible without the board...you just have to be open to it and very careful.

I have 2 Ouija boards and I'd like to point out that they are not toys and should be used wisely.... I know some people who have become obsessed with them. I believe it's called some kind of entrapment. Use caution with them.

I used to be very drawn to the board. It became an addiction for me around my senior year in highschool. I played it in cemeteries too. ( even though I knew you weren't supposed to) Heres a few things that have happened to me...

I was playing it in my kitchen one night with a friend of mine. My parents were gone. I had made the board mad ( which i always seem to do) I kept saying I didn't believe and to show its powers. All of a sudden the garage light came on. Now mind you the only way it would come on if you were to open the garage or flip the switch on. I went down and flipped the switch on and off and the light still didnt go out. It didn't even turn on and off. It stayed on the whole night.

I have took it to an old psych-hospital. Let me tell you The sounds in that place was UNBELIEVABLE! Normally there were sounds galore but when we started to use the board. It was like a whole nother level of creepines!

I started having very wierd nightmares.
A group of friends and I went to a cemetery and began to play in a dirt/grass area. I wore a gold crufix from a rosey that was my great great grandmothers. As we precided to play I went to play with the cross and noticed it was gone. I was stuck in my bra. When I pulled the cross out I noticed that the necklace was still together and the metal part was still bent together. It should have NEVER came off of the necklace. I held the cross in my hands and made a smart remark ( like always) when i opened my hand the cross was gone. The board spelled out.. " your cross is waiting for you in your home..... in hell" Lovely I thought.

Once time I decided not to play. I was busy doing something else. The board kept spelling out my name. Every question was " Elaine" So once again I was being smart and made a remark about how it rather liked me and probably wouldnt work until I put my hands on it. Sure enough it spelled out yes.

I think that they are for real sometimes. If you have the right people within a circle to use one. One skeptic can throw it off and nothing will happen. As far as possession I am not certain of that. I haven't seen any hard core proof saying that you can be possessed by a board but, I am open minded and if anyone knows anything I am ready to read.

Curosity is my biggest downfall too.. this cat must have more then 9 lives .. lol

i used one when i was very young... i was with my sister. we got a spirit that told us it was "satan"

Well, I have one that my friend made me as a Christmas present years ago, although I haven't used it in a long time.

One particular experience was when we where using it in his room, and started getting some strange messsages. Considering that were both actors, we dont trust eachother in these respects :-) and started accusing eachother of moving the planchette eratically. we asked 'it' (and in respects to your detailed introduction to the thread, I am still to ultimately decide what I think influences the Ouija itself) to leave and it said No.

Our arguing at who was teasing the other soon stopped. My friend usd to collect knives, and had then on stand all aorund his room. One, that was on top of the wardrobe (in the middle, not the edge) fell off the wardrobe, onto the bed, and onto the floor beside us.

I dont know fi this was extreme coincidence or somehting to do with what we where doing... but it scared the living Hell out of me.

This is way we don't give power tools to children. :)

When you use the Ouija board, first have an intention for it. Frame of mind is important. Second use protection, learn to ground and use your guides. Third, when someone comes through ask 'are you from The Light.' They must answer truthfully, because of your guides, if they are not -dismiss them and ask again.

Yes, an Ouija board is a great tool to work with Spirit. Use these guidelines and you will not have any trouble.

Well, I suppose that totally depends on what your beliefs are about the Ouija. I take it yours are spiritual.. but entirely? Do you think that some of it could be subconscious?

I don't believe that it's about belief. But more about how true you are to yourself. The whole reason for the Ouija was to make it easy for someone to contact Spirit. It was never about 'lets have some with this.......and see what happens.'

It the same thing about swimming. You don't dive in the water if you are not sure that it is deep enough.

This is not the tread to say this but, I do play with the big boys in Spirit. I do have personal say, first hand. Spirit is there. But it is you that must decide what to believe in.

We get help to guide us in many ways. The Ouija, is only one.

As for dealing with the subconscious, it doesn't work that way. I have done hypnotherapy and the subconscious is more of a big protective child within us. It would not interact with the Ouija.

Better to follow the guidelines, and use it with trusting friends. I had friends that later said they were trying to force an answer. To them it was a game.

i havent used mine in a long time like for 1 year or more. i believe that they do work but not all the time. and if they do work you have to have everything set up right and what not. ive had some pretty odd experenices with them when it worked, off the top of my head right now i remember this one time at my old house my old friend and i used my ouija board and my room got really windy and things started falling. how odd is that?

I have had some really scary moments with one so personally i refuse to go near one. To me it feels like that technique to contact a ghost where you let it possess your body then it will use your body to write its thoughts out.

My sister and I are very much into Ouija boards... we make them ourselves. However, we have learned to be very careful. She thought it would be funny to take on to her friend's house who has some uneasy spirits living about. They contacted two boys. They won't tell me most of what happened but, I went to the main library and looked for murders on that street in the records area and found that two brothers were killed by their mother in the friend's house. It happened between 12 am and 3 am... according to the whole family that is when "weird" things happen...

I believe they are real... and I play with them... no use in having fear...

i think that they are evil .....well not so much the board is evil just what you can contact with it... id rather use something where i could control what your dealing with alittle better .... if you invite them to play you dont just invite one you invite them all and they arent all sugar spice and everything nice

Ouija boards are not something to be trifled with. I owned one once and I will never have one again-I was almost possessed by the board, and had to burn it. Never EVER again will I allow one in my house.

the problem with a ouija board is they are like a party phone line......
you pick up the phone.... you start talking to the person on the other line.....
but you know nothing about that person/entity to which you speak.....be it angel/demon/spirit/or elemental?
so just remember to take it all with caution....you are in essence performing an open ended summoning.....which is something few sane people would actually attempt if thats the way they looked at it...

i have played with the oujia board once but i was on drugs so i cant tell you if what happend to me an the other person actually happend and since then i have never played with one nor to i want one around me

i have used one with a select set of friends but i couldnt prove weather thay were moving the pointer or not so im still sceptickle

Well I own 2 of them. One was my father's before he passed. And the other one someone bought me ( it has never been opened). Anyway, my father used it about once a week. Especially if there were people at the house that he didn't particularly care for because it does freak people out. Well, one night he was in our living room using the board, I don't remember why he had to leave the board, but he walked away from it and when he turned his back, the message indicator flew from the board at him and almost stabbed him in the back, but he walked into the next room just in time and it stuck in the wall. So my father disposed of it by breaking it into seven pieces and putting holy water on it and buried it. About 2 weeks later, it was back together and in his bedroom when he came home from work. To this day we have never figured out how it got there. He orginally thought my Mom had bought a new one and put it there just to mess with him, but the board was his original board. The only thing wrong with it was the plastic piece was out of the opening. I am now the proud owner of this board because my Mom would now allow it to be in her house once my Dad passed. I have used it alot and I have never had anything like that happen to me. But I always turn the message indicator upside down while carrying the board and while I am not using the board.

I say never open your self to demons and sprits. I don't use Ouija Boards in my investigations. matter of fact that is a big rule in paranormal investigations is never use them.

I have been a party to the usage of several...very interesting...one particular time that sticks in my mind was on Valentine's Day some years ago .....friends and I were in my favourite cemetery...we were using the board and spelled out the name John Valentine..we laughed thinking how conicidental it was...until the electrical storm we were experiencing caused lightening to strike a tree as we sheltered in the doorway of the church..after the storm calmed we ran to investigate the damage and found that part of the tree...a large heavy branch... had fallen upon a grave stone ...which belonged to a John Valentine...funny huh?....needless to say we got spooked and subsequently took our leave from that place....(we ran like the very demons of hell were upon us and didn't stop 'til we reached the other side of the gates)....~giggles~.....I have only used one once or twice since then.... pretty sure I was tripping the last time...I remember laughing at my friends being scared..and feeling 'at one' with the board...rofl...hehe

I know its a mind over matter thing but hey I was young..

I reserved posting here because my experiences were extremely painful. On two occasions in two very separate sessions .. in fact several years apart, two completely different states, and two very different sets of friends, the only one thing being similar in the two times was ME .. during the first session (held in Wisconsin with my best friend and two others) being young stupid and naive someone asked if anyone we knew would die ... the answer was yes ... being a skeptic for the most part at the time I just shook it off, even after we were told it would be a male. Nothing else "eventful" happened that night. Two days later I went back to Chicago and back to school on Monday, that afternoon I received a call from my best friend, the night after we played on the board, one of our close friends, and a guy whom I had always had a crush on was killed in a drunk driving accident. I never forgot what the board said. Many years passed and I never touched another board, until the night I sat with a group of people in Bloomington IL, the girl who’s house we were at brought out a board, immediately I was like no I don't want to touch it, but some how I let my self get talked into it, probably due to the smoke and drink. Anyway's, even after telling them not to ask that fateful question, the girl next to me asked if she would die? Instantly I broke connection, but regardless the pointer moved, it said no, then yes, being confused she asked again, it said no, then I told them to ask if someone would die, and it said yes. I left the room at that point and went to the kitchen, I don't know and never asked what else they asked. But two days later while sitting at work I received a phone call ... a girl I worked with had died in a car wreck the night before. Coincidence? Believable or not, but one thing I should point out .. is most of the friends within my life that I have lost have been in some sort of car accident ... so you tell me ... and no I have not touched nor will I touch another board ...

I know someone who was possesed by it.

A friend of mine,used to use the ouija board everyday,he was addicted to it,and always did it alone,and altough he practices witchcraft he never did a protection and banishing spell.(A big mistake!)

He used to contact demons,and once he was possesed.I didn't see him when it happened but two of my trustable friends did,I trust them and belive them.

However he wasn't possesed while playing with it,but after he was doing it everyday and once they were at his house and it happened.Luckily he is ok now and never did it again.

...oh I forgot how he knew he was possesd.Well he wasn't feeling well and when a friend touched him,she felt him so hot it hurt her and he stabbed on the wall by his own,like someting trasparent had pushed him into it.Then when he played the board again it told him,they were the demons who possesed him.

Another story I remember that was told to me.

There was this group who were playing it.
They've contacted an evil spirit from hell.They asked him their names and he guessed all of them with their surnames,where they lived,age etc...
He even guessed some future events like the death of Princess Diane and other events.They asked him to do something to prove he was there and they've felt a strange wind and the board shaked.
Then for that whole week,bad and strange things happened to all the particants.For example one had a car accident,etc.... they couldn't 've been coincidences if it all happen to them and everything in that week!

My friend Joe has one that he made himself. He is a Wiccan believer. I had an experience with that board that I wouldn't be calling a scheme. I had a close friend of mine with us while she contacted her dead love. {I bursted into tears. The whole feel of the room was very emotional. My opinion on Ouija boards are they aren't toy games. If you are not trying then it won't work. You have to use it right in order for it to work.

i personally havent use one but i think teh idea behind it speaking with the dead is cool i want to try it someday

I've had experiances but most of the time it's just for fun when you're bored. No one around me really takes it seriously and I think it's a good way to think about most things. I know for one myself that there is no way i can possibly be moving it since I'm barely touching it. my hand follows it and it's possible that other people around me are moving but they say they aren't and I trust them since we know it's pretend there's no use in any one trying to pull off any tricks.

Ouija boards should be kept under a black silk cloth all the time, even if they are prokter and gamble. They should (NEVER) be used by anyone that has a mental disability, Schiz, manic depressant, bi-polar, etc. All the pro's plus spiritualist agree that it increases your level of addiction and possible pososition. And adding to the theory of how far fetched your mind is in the board will depend your weird experiance. If you get one and do not enjoy your experiance, Do not hang on the wall like a frame of art. The board can do odd things when exposed to the open all the time, it is a gate that for the most part don't have complete control. Ask yourself would you pick up a gun and point it at yourself if you did or did not know it was loaded. I have heard that people with mental disabilities shouldn't even go near a board for reasons of possession. Also drugs, drinking or things alter your mind is a big no no.

I have seen different types of boards. Like an Angel board. There are even some boards that I have seen that have been made with the entent and purposes to be used for more negative things. I don't get how they can seperate the two. Any kind of spirit can get in a board correct? ( If I am not right please correct me) Any kind of board is like playing russian rullet. You never know what you will get...

from reading this and talking to SPARDA i have decide not to use a ouija board, how ever tempting it may be, i will read about tohers experinces and learn from thier experinces i dont need anythign else to go wrong for me

ok Countess here I am. I donno about them. The only experience with the occult when I was a kid it was at a slumber party, we tried the board nothin happened or didnt make sense.. so we played light as a feather.. someone opened their eyes,, the subject was floating, they screamed, the girl fell hard enough to break her arm, sleeping party over, girl in air to ER mom pissed off at everyone there. SO boards? dont think so. I believe in spirits, but I think they have better ways of communicating. They are not stupid you know. They have to know enough to exist within our plane and theirs as well.

you know nothing of what will happen with a ouija board many people have different stories mine is that you could either trust the board or u can't.

I've never used one before, but I will someday. I've heard some bad stories about them. So for those who do, thats cool as long as your careful about it.

There's people that hold conventions and tell you the safest way of going about the spirit board, and everybody has there own opinions. I like to think of it like searching for paranormal spirits were something bad happened. There's a good chance there is contact. But the evil spirits in my opinion seem to carry that far streached thought farther than what your imagination is. So treat a spirit board like a gun! If your scared to use it, DON"T. Things do feed off of your fear, this is a common element that is a base rule. If someone is just trying to experement with the para sciences, I would suggest finding a comfortable woods that seems to carry good vibes( I know I sound like a hippy, read my profile you'll think different!) anywho nice place at night in a thicket off woods and use a pair of rune stones, or a crystal on a string. Next to water it is sothing not only to yourself mentally, but spirits love water and flowers. Never been to a sauance and neither was not present, and the calling was a smooth and rather fast and easy coming and going that filled us with white energy that under the right feel could be sinsed. I've had bad experiences, so I give the warning, know your intentions even if you have to wake up every morning and do a morning journal of two page writing, so you can see the negative self compared to your posotive thinking, and Identify! Be careful and don't take it serious with a lot of responsibility. ;)

I dont think Id ever touch one of them. I had a friend who did once and her house was haunted afterwards... its kinda creepy and I dont like messing with the dead. They are dead for a reason.

I haven't messed with one since I was young but we didn't erase it correctly and well I have been dealing with the consequences of it ever since then

I had one and I followed all the directions and it never worked for me, so I threw it away and vowed to waste no more of my time and money on it.

Ouija boards or yes/no boards were considered to be a tool of evil that witches of old would conjure demons to attack the unsuspecting stranger or enemy

I had a few experences with one that all of them were not of the good kind.


#1 for my bday i got one, and as a pasttime at my party we decided to play, everyone had the same thing saying..... your pushing it...no your are... and so on.

well we finally gave up and thought nothing of it. latr on after my bday i went to the game (yeah right!) and played with it myself (i know now that, that was a bad move, buit back then i didn't know.)
so i played and it moved, shortly there after ther was a small gust of air in the room, i got scared and said goodbye and took it to my parents to dispose of it i dont want it in the house, DON'T LET ME SEE IT i said and well it was still in the house and i did see it, finally i got them convinced to get rid of it and they did. >:D

#2 when i was in my 1st yr in High school i met a boy named phil and he liked me alot and when we talked about some of my fave subjects, he told me of his boardgame that didnt work so i told him to bring it into school and let me have a looks and see if i can fix it....... welll the damn board ws back in my posession (F$#K) anyways, i tried it again with a friend to see it he didnt get a dud board.... I say NE NE!
I was an active doorway, and the friend that my best frined called was her best friend that died a age 7.
Well she didnt like me and pushed me 10 feet back and my frined only 5 feet and i was hurting (if i didnt have my closet door open i would have gone thru it.)

#3 during the summer of 97 i was hanging out with friends at an abandoned factory where we drank (underage) and had fun exploring.
Well some jackass brought his Quija (Witchboard) with him....arggg not again!
I watched this time not particapated and shit still hit the fan, this time the room that we were all in was filling with a mini air funnel and the board started to levitate and thats when everyone ran (w/o saying goodbye...idiots) i was one of the last to leave since i was one of the 1st into the room...the board by this time was about chest high. (im 5'8) and as i was out the door and down the hall i heard a loud snaping sound. i went back to see what it was (yeah i know brave soul) and the board was broken in 2 and the pointer was too.

Later on the guy that has the board called me the next morning to tell me that it was back together, he was spooked and asked if he should burn it, i said NO and told him to just getrid of it. he did.

#4 at a friends place hanging out my friends were wanting me to join in, Isaid no and watched again. (man it never get any better) anyways the room was lite with candles and they were ready.
During the session the candles flames when green and the room got windy this time I heard a voice and thats when i told them i was out of there, and left quicky...glad i did to cuz i fould out later that the 3 that were playing had major cardiac arests (heart attacks) 2 went mental and other then myself, one of the guys that went insain, his girlfriend was fine..... the rest were guys!

weird i know and i will never ever ever go near one let alone touch one and id i see it i want theat person to hide it from my vision, but there are times that i can still feel them even if i cant see them.

Quija board or Witch board to be precise is a tool that is used by witches, warlocks and people of the craft, to be able to comunicate to the dead / spirits.
The board is a gateway/doorway to the netherworld/underworld, where the living can ask for advice from the dead.

Back in the olden days it was made out of news paper clippings and pressed together and painted black with gold lettering and the pointer was at the time a kettle coaster (a round tray that the kettle would sit on and not burn the table that would have 3 to 4 legs on it with a hole in the middle to read the letters / numbers)

well families and friends would gather and do seances as set for parlor tricks.
Well it got big after that and MB started to maufacture it as a toy.


Its not a toy, it a tool and without the proper wards, protections spells, circle around you and one for your spirits (to keep them contained) then you are just playing with the fires of life and death not only with your own life but the lives of others.

When using this tool, PLEZE, for your sake and the sake of others wear a protection circle around you.

i have had an expierence with the Ouija board. About 2-3 years ago i was sleeping over at my friend's house with about 4-5 other people and one of them decided to bring her Ouija board. My friends mom had the bright idea that we should try it out. Well, i decided like everyine else that i would try it. we got in a circle, lit a few candles, and started. One of my friends got a hold of her dead father, which was really creepy because we could feel him behind us and he touched her and brushed against me......then my friend got ahold of her grandma and she started freaking out. I decided it was my turn and tried to get my cousin Scott, who died when i was in 6th....well i got him and i was a tiny bit freaked. He talked for awhile, then gave me a series of letters to tell my mom, his aunt or his mom cuz he said they would know what it would mean. I was totally clueless...and a bit creeped out because i could feel him in the room by me....... Well the next day i went home and told my mom i had used a Ouija Board (she was pissed bout that) and that i had talked to cousin scott. I told her the letters he gave me, and she just stared at me.....then she almost started crying. I was like what? and she made me repeat them so i did. I asked her if she knew what the letters meant and she said yes......then she just sat there . i was really surprised cuz i thought maybe i had made it up in my mind and i had moved the pointer...but i guess not......i thought that was pretty creepy........it was a good expierence but i don't know if i would use the Ouija board again........

those are for stupid people who wants to mess with the dead they look out for us so we shouldnt play stupid games with them so i have never used one its a NO NO!

A Quija board tried to call to me in Spencers and it was the first one of the stack. To all those who had one call out to them, NEVER pick it up. Don't pick the one on the top, or the bottom. I know most of you already know this, but this is to the other people who want to pick one out.

I have had many expieriences with an ouija board, but none of which has amounted to anything happening. I am still hoping someday if i come across one again that i will expierience something.

i've lost faith in ouiji boards... but now i think i'm not using them correctly. reading these posts is giving me drive to try again. i live for the freaky unexplainable stuff.

i hav a total of 4 ouija boards ...one for each season....i kno u guys may think tht is odd but hey i hav had some good exsperiences with ouija boards .....and i hav had only 2 freaky(scary ) ones with them also .....ouija boards are also known to be made from the devil and i believe that if u believe in him then u will get ahold of him...and i hav once but tht was 4 years ago.....i hav just been on one two nights ago.

I have used one in the past, and due to certain reasonings, I will never use one again. i was alone, so i know nobody was moving it but the spirits. i do beleive you can unlock certain doors that you cannot shut..

ive nvr really tried with a real ouija board, but tried to make a homemade one, but i guess didnt make it right because it didnt work

They're so rare. I was told a properly woked ouija board is done with four or more people with their hands on the ouija's eye (the circle window thing).They are to put a constant unconcernable pressure or pushing on the eye with their hands until the eye picks an answer.
I've never seen one to buy one but are the boards a product of some toy company,their registered product?

einstien proved that energy never completly disappears it just alters it's form the human body depends on small electrical charges to work so we are part energy when we die that energy changes form that is what i think spirt's are that said why couldn't spirt energies take control over you if you allowed it "opend your self up to it "and control the same nerves that would move the pointer or cause auto writing ? i gusse i could be full of shit too whow knows!!

Quija Boards Are Overrated...Ive Used One It Wasnt that special....

i dont think its really the board itself...i think its the people that are playing w/ it that make them do what they do....ya know? u dont have to have the actual board to talk to a spirit or whatever, its the person calling for the spirit...and it all depends if maybe your house is haunted or maybe ur the one whos haunted...the ouija board, i think, is just something that plays with your head and makes u think its the only way u can contact a ghost or whatever....well u guys understand what im trying to say lol
