have anyone here ever tried absinthe? would you consider it a liquor or a drug?? I think that its just a liquor, no different from vodka or jim beam, but some of my friends argue that its more of a drug. what are your thoughts?

I like that drink.
Its a beverage which is alcoholic, nothing more.

I like it too but nothing special, never had the same effect like of my friends'.I think it'a liqiour can't be a drug.

I've never had it myself yet .. but it's my understanding that it's a bit of both ..

I have never had it either, I'm a jager type of girl. Why would people consider it a drug...sounds like alcohol to me?

I have heard rumors about the green fairy but never tried it myself. then again I havent looked for places around here to see if they have it. I heard through a friend her boyfriend ordered it and it costs about a hundred dollars a bottle.

yeah it is a bit expensive but its worth the money. There is a website http://www.alandia.de/ which sells it. so if anyone is interested i highly recommend that site.

damn that is one expensive bottle!!! So what makes the green fairy worth that much if it's just alcohol then?

Among these thujon is of major importance, a substance released by the wormwood plant, known under the name artemisia absinthium. The effects of real absinthe can be mood brightening, stimulating even euphorizing. That is why it is so expensive.

Okay just a few questions...

1. its pretty green.. does it set your whoha on fire when it comes out?

2. Can you O.D on it?

3. If its THAT flammable should you smoke while drinking it?

4. Do you really see a green fairy?

I have had it a couple of times...once when I was 15 not much of it maybe a sip or two...made my tongue feel wierd and nothing more...lol

and once when I was 18 ..I had had rather more than a couple of sips...and I remember I had a few other drinks and narcotic substances so I cannot say for sure if the Absynthe made me do what I did on that fateful night or if I was just going to do it anyway....muahahahahaha...~giggles~

in my country absinth is drunk normally as an alcohol,not like a soft liquer...btw it tastes strongly:-))

Absinthe has the same chemical in it as pot - that's why it's argued as a drug.

And some of my friends that have had it claim to have actually seen the green fairy...

Tried it and it's great.. But then again it wasn't the real home made absinth (witch is better and people say you'll see green fairies, rabbits and even crocodiles :) ) still it's good and strong drink..

I must really be out of it..... can someone tell me what exactly this drink is? Do you drink it straight? or is it mixed with somehting? I've heard of it before, but I've never seen it in the liquor store before. Isn't it illegal in some places?
