What do people thing of the mysterious black cats in England ? Some say they are black panthers which escaped from private collections in the 60s. Others say they are a native species of British big cat.
There are legends of black cats everywhere. You need an article or better information before there is speculation
Here's a place to start...

I think most people love the idea of 'myth and legend' and it helps with the growth in tourism!
ive met ne.a couple went on holiday in scotland nand came back with a big kitten and he grew up to the size of a medium sized dog.he was really cute and liked being stroked.and was really purry.some zooligists came to see him and said he was unknown to science.he was adorable
Unless you have proof and documentation...I find that extremely hard to believe.
Similar stories are circulated here in the US - especially in the east. I'd be interested in getting more info/links too.
One of the sightings in the UK

What could explain it:

The best reason, and the one that makes the most sense- is that they were exotic pets/illegal pets set free or that escaped.
On a side note.. I'm sure most of you could find more info on your own.. it's called research.
I'm not trying to sound condescending, but if you have internet, you can find all the inconclusive and conclusive evidence to meet your own opinion or view on the subject.
I know in the USA they had shows about it and most of the time it was wild black panthers that had come to far up or a genetic mutation of the puma. I do not see how someone can say science would allow them to keep something that is not known by science. WIthout doing tests, etc. THat just seems highly illogical to me.
Hmm.. well Arvalin, a lot of things happen without the government or science knowing.
As for a genetic mutation, I haven't heard of this yet, but then again I haven't really looked that far into the large cats known to be seen. It just really sounds like a far-fetched rumor..
Nikki I was actually quoting catseye with the post idea of
" zooligists came to see him and said he was unknown to science.he was adorable" Zoologists in their right mind, being part of science and the study of what is in the world at this very moment would have taken dna, studied it etc. It would not have just gone without anything being taken. IF it was a new species, highly speculative, they would have been all over it to see if it was fertile, its location, if it had reproduced, etc. Just saying "take it home we don't know what it is" is not something I could see a scientist in their right mind ever saying. Zoolosists, scientists, etc would kill to get their hands on something new to stake a name on it.
Mutations happen naturally in nature. If you are curious about mutations, even if it is not the "black cat" of speculated myth, look at the new lions they have found. I say new because it is another MUTATION that happens in nature.

Now about the speculation of black pumas, black large cats, etc. There has never been any solid proof of any of these truly found. Most believe it is due to unnatural lighting, shadows, etc

I've read of these creatures before.. but I don't think they're the main cause behind all of the sightings. Only time will really tell, if they manage to capture one-and hopefully study it without damaging it.
well, a panther cant mate with a house cat.LOL.
so,im guessing maybe a mutant or maybe a
government experiment excaped.
Or,
maybe these cats have Gigantism.
and the DNA was passed down threw littlers
of black cats.
they are actually in alot of places around the world.
I never seen one,
but I'd like to.
They never attack anyone, excepting maybe farm
animals. I think they are just cats. they are just
diffrent.
scientists are just people who will say any old thing to keep their jobs and salaries.people belive anything they say esp when they declare that such and such is a science fact
Cats eye, there you are wrong. Science is built on questions and hypothesis. From there comes a thesis. You do not seem to understand science which is why honestly, I do not believe the zoologist thing. But hypothesis and thesis are made to be argued, studied, and bettered. Nothing in science is set in stone. If it was there would never be advancement
actually Pseudoscience is the culprit when it comes to "saying any thing to keep their jobs", and the big producer of BS is Cryptozoology.
