I'm doing this out of curiosity and because of school research. Do you think there is a relation between witches and vampires? In one of the books I read, vampires seem to have descended from a witch who was bent on being immortal
a vampire can be a witch or wiccen.
but one is bron a vampire
one must learn to be a wiccen
I heard something along the lines that a witch could damn a person and make them a vampire when they die or something...
i dont really know if vampyres have decended from witches and dont believe it either. surely, a vampyre can be wiccan but in most cases wiccans have other beliefs than vampyres. i think wiccans dont want to be associated with vampyres.
I think one has nothing to do with the other. Many would disagree w/ me. Of course it is popular to be either so many think why not pretyend to be both.
i truly dont have the slightest, but i do know there is magick involved either way.
I've read that necromancers have the abilty to curse one to being a vampire, and that some that practice have found ways of use vampires in their workings a form of control but other then that all supernatural creatures are connected so in away the information you read is correct but in others it isn't.
I don't think they are. I would find it easier to believe a wiccan would be more as a werewolf(earth and nature) than a vampire (cursed undead soul)
there is more of a spirituality with being a wolf than being a vampire.
im not really sure but as far as i know...there is no common relation...
If I remember correctly, Lilith who some say was the first vampire, was proclaimed to be a winged human. Who mated with a demon named Asmodai giving birth to many demonic offspring. I got this from several websites. I think that maybe a witch gave birth a vampire creating the species.
I don't think they are related... but I believe you can be both
some are both but it is by choice and i dont think there is any direct relation
i'm wiccian and luv the vampire scene. we do have different beliefs and live a differnt life style. we believe in loving nature and everything in it. we have a major rule. harm none. in many ways witches and vampires are different. but we do share a major thread. we are both outcast for our beliefs and way of life.
I believe we have two totality different subjects here vampires and witches are different
Hm.. I don't really consider Wiccans to be outcasts, as there are growing more and more in number every day. I don't see the two being all that related, but I don't see any real conflict between the two. However, I do find that Wiccans, or Pagans and witches in general, would have more in common with Werewolves than Vampires. Lycans are more... in tune with nature.. whereas vampires are the unnatural.
Wasn't this already done in a thread before?
My maker told me that a grand sorcerer, Danaja or something like that, was furious with the First one, vampire. The First one was a king or pharaoh, one of the two, who had sacrificed Danaja's son for some god. Danaja became furious and cursed the First one. That is only one of several connections that I know of. I also herd that several magical people have cursed themselves to be vampires, and some have learned magick.
Sounds like someone's been into roleplaying a bit too deeply.
Okay thanks I thought maybe I was just having a deja vu moment.
Witches and Vampires dont mingle, Witches have there own sorce of power and gods. Vampires have greater power.
So vampires are greater than all the energy and gods in the universe? I highly doubt it.
I believe they are seperate. Like many said here already, i believe that a vampire may be wiccan. You have to study to become wiccan wheras a vampire your born into.
And, as obvious on this site, witches and vampires DO mingle. Or at least people pretending to be vampires.
Witches have no relation to vampires. The only one I could think was that they are both outcasted of the society of regular humans. Vampires are creatures that drink blood and drain powers through their mind. Witches are humans with the extra senses, and sometimes have to be taught about the powers of the earth and universe. ----no they are very different.
Witches and vampires are two different things. They didn 't descend from one another either. I was told a long while ago that Vampires avoid witches or have this rhitorical friendships because a Witch could make them do anything under spelll. But i doubt anthing about that is true. Well, for the most part. They both have thier own backgrounds and are in no relation
I think that a vamp can be a witch by choice, but that witches are a different type of entity. Some witches get along with vampires, while others don't. I've heard of "the Water Line," a witch group that seeks to destroy all vampires.
As for power (magic,) it exists in both witches and vampires! Some magic is inborn, while other magic is learned - but it doesn't mean that either is "better" than the other!
As for vampires descending from witches, I honestly don't know, ~and~ I don't have an opinion on it!
There are stories of certain witches, after being condemned to death, came back as vampires to exact their revenge. Then there are stories of witches cursing others to vampirism because of certain wrongs. Usually these are ironic curses in which the perpetrator murdered someone and wanted to die afterwards out of guilt. So, the best curse would be to make sure they could never die and to force them to continue killing for all eternity.
But these are only stories and who knows if they have any truth to them. But the relationship between witches and vampires are not entirely a superficial one it seems.
There is a difference between the 2. I am a witch and not a vamp although being both is possible. . . there is really no relation besides that. . .
Wicca is a religion. You are not born wiccan. We also have to mention that wiccans are not the only witchcraft way there are many more, who are also considered witches, like shamanism, voodoo, spiritism, etc
For me a person can be both or can be only one of them.
So I believe they are different.
Some of you kill me sometimes. Yes one CAN be born a vampire, not all vampires are born. Some are created. And you do have to learn to be wiccan, but you can be born a natural witch. Wiccan is just a path of the lord and lady, not a specific type of being. Ii know natural witchs, and I also know natural vampires. I also know of one who was born both. Being a vampire is no different from being a witch, it's all about the energy. Weither you are useing it for magic, or to sustain the essence of energy.
Has no one ever held the concept of a natural witch?
Yes.
Cause I believe that certain people are born with natural gifts, but those don't have to be mistaken with the steroetype Hollwywood witch.
i asked around with some of my vampire and wiccan friends and they said that there is no relation...so if that helps out any...
if i remember correctly....i read somewhere that there was once a vampire woman who practiced magical hex's, but however, practicing isnt the same as decentation...i dont think it is possible
I must disagree with 1 thing said in this thread.. someone posted that a vampire is born but a witch must learn.. that is not true at all there are born witches as well as one who study to be.. i was born a witch, it is not something that i woke up one day saying oh today i want to be a witch, please do not get me wrong i did have to study to help my gift alone. but i have always had a gift..i have never asked for what i am... i just am what i was born.
Vampires and witches are associated in various cultures. The Latin words lamia and striga mean both witch and vampire, as witches were commonly thought to consume the blood of children.
My ex was a wiccan and she and her coven hated vampires to the point that they did not even beleve in them and said that even if they did walk the earth it was only because a witch put them there its funny that she was a witch cause the word is so close to bitch:)
ya i think theres a connection cuz sometimes u can't choose to be a vampire but u want to be a witch
i do not knoe of that but i am a practitioner of dark paganism and am a vamp...
I think they are interrelated but i dont think vampires descended from witches
In folklore they both seem to be very much alike, eventhough they are indeed different. To me a witch is someone who dabbles in black magic and sorcery, while a vamp has diiferent character goals.
ahhh some once told me wiccan is a belife and be gine a vamprie is a sate of begin and im a wiccan/vampire and i thank you to the person who told me that
i am sure there is some relation but not like a witch could have a vamp for a son or daughter. we are talking more like distant cousins
Not all witches practice "dark magick" but all vampires are evil creatures by nature.
the 16th century christian belief was that when witches die they became vampires, because in their belief witches worshipped satan so their souls were damned to begin with and vampires were just an embodiment of a souless witch.
My thought was that vampires and witches were enemies because witches thought vampires to be cruel uncaring demons.
True vampires are cruel, uncaring demons.
But then, I'm a cruel uncaring witch. Usually. lmao
ok i may not know a whole lot on this subject but i think anything is possible
i personally dont think there is but i do suppose that anything is possible. i dont know much of anything on this subject but i guess anything is possible
yes i do beleive that you can be both but i believe that they have no common relationship in the beginning...
i think there is no relationship between vampires and witches. they are totally different
I think that this all comes for the fact that in certain religions witches and vampires are both definened as being evil and worshipped satan,or come from hell even in the 21st century.
To me you can only be one or the other as I have never met anyone that is a vampire as well as a witch.
well that was a good conclusion at the top octavia but i think the fact is that the vamps around the world are acting like humans but have an extra strong power that the witches can sense and so the witches are teaching them wicca..,
Yes there is a common denominator between witchcraft and vampirism. Note that I did not say wicca. Vampyres practice witchcraft, and some witchcraft pratice vampirism. It all depends on the witch or the vampire.
to be born of the vampuric blood is to be born wiccan. ans is also to have faith in what you are although they decently get along
...what diffrence dose it make...religion is just a way to classife people...
I would say that to be a vampire is physical and to be a witch is a set of skills and beliefs learned. They could be the same, though need not be.
i think that being a Vampire is something you are stuck with, its your nature your form. however being a witch or wicca is a religion. Its a chioce. I think Vampires didnt spawn from witches. I think that they were just vampires to begin with. they just belived in something befor hand.
I'm personally convinced that witches are very different from vampires. I practiced in a coven with a group of witches for a year and though some of the rites included "blood offerings" (pricking a finger and offering the blood drops to the goddess, burning it in a cauldron), none ever drank the blood and although "vampires" were never a topic, they would sometimes crop up (with negative connotations) in certain conversations, such as: "so & so is a real vampire" or "she's like a vampire." Again, this was always 'negative.'
From the tone of their voices, facial expressions and insinuations, the only kind of vampire that the witches I've come to know absolutely fear is the psychic vampire, the energy draining vampire.
I think witches fear that these types of vampires are going to suck their 'mojo' and they wont be able to perform their hexes.
I don't consider myself a 'witch.' I think that title or lable is too harsh for my ears and not too my liking. I do consider myself an abled 'practitioner' of the Craft, but I have never a witch. That, of course, is a personal choice.
I was (and still am) the only Craft practitioner I know that has never had a problem with vampires, nor have had vampires be put off by the fact that I do practice the Craft, also none of the vampires I know have never thought of me as anything other than their own, even though I have never labled myself a vampire either.
I purposely resist lables and 'cliques.'
But anyway, I have felt, having walked in the middle of the two groups, their... hummm.... DISTRUST of one another. I think it has to do with hte fact that they each have a sense of the other's power and ability - the magick - each being wields. I think they fear that the other will interfere with the other's ability to tap into that magick... I don't know. The two camps don't outright hate eachother, I don't think they even THINK about each other, but they do avoid each other. There is an unspoken fear in both groups. I'm just lucky that I have been well received by both.
I don't rock the boat with either. I just enjoy them both.
vampire's can be wiccan, and witches can curse a person into eternal damnation but it's different then making them into a vampire. 'Cause they aren't dead.
I became a witch a few years before my awakening. I don't think that 1 had to do with the other.
Hmmm! they can be both as well as what they want to become !
Hmmm....Well Vampires and Witches, I think, are related but not by blood. I think that witches might have help Vampires with their Vampuric powers and that in return Vampires help protect witches...but that is only an idea, lol...
if you r a witch study witchcraft...ect. you are a witch (you learned how to be!!)
being a vampire you r born or turned you use others energy that you have drained from them........
Well, I hope this helped you with research for your school project :) Time for this baby to rest in peace now. By the way if you do need further information on this subject in Vampire Rave then the search facility would be a very useful tool for you :)
