I just suddenly wondered why vampires hate light and why it turns them to ash and such.. if thats what it realy dose. any body know the answer?
Usually those who are born with that condition don't like light very much due to health, seams it's part of their condiotion, but the turning to ash thing I believe it's all a mityh.
umm lets look at it this way...
hollywood=fake
turning to ash cuz of sunlight=fake
vampyres have a dislike for sunlight because alot of them are photosensitive to the light..it causing them pain and makes them tired..
I know that there is a symdrom that cause an allergic reaction to the sun light, and that burns skin, but not to the point of ashes, still it hurt real bad and wound the person, it is a rare condition and called if I remember correctly the X symdrom.
But as for vampire its a myth nothing more.
Mmm.. I am a cannibal yet sun puts me in pain.... I hate light because it causes migrains. I hate the day because I am tired during it.
For me I love the sun, but it hurts my eyes and gives me really bad headachs
I toast like bread in a nuclear reactor, thats why I don't like sunlught!
i dont like sunlight because i spend most of my time locked in my room which is black, so my eyes have become used to the darkness, but i also dont like sunlight because it gives me migranes.
Not so much a vampiric trait, but for those akin to the nightlife in general will indeed be somewhat prone to being photosensative.
Also, those with eye or ear problems will also have this problem due to the fact it overloads the other senses.
For myself, slight deafness due to the misfortune of an ear infection turning into something much worse. My boyfriend in turn has several problems with his eyes-- not just the need for glasses per say, but glacoma(sp) of the eye and astigmatism.
I think turning to ash is fake, but I know I am very sensitive to the light I burn easily, and it take my eyes time to adjust to the light outside....so I can see why they hate it xD they are not daywalkers.
I don't know the REAL reason why I don't like light but I DO see better in the dark and it's almost like if I'm in light to long it is more difficult to see in the dark and gives me a REALLY bad headache and I feel like my eyes are about to fall off.
I think it's based on philiophical ideology. People of the night are, or at lest appear to be more open minded and accepting. More into the celebration of life and it's joys. Once daylight appears it's back to the mundane everyday grind of paying bills and responsibilities. The freedom is gone.
I actually don't mind the sunlight..... Usually if it is a nice day out you will find me in the woods of my backyard way back were no one can find me usually laying in the grass.....
Hollywood has really warped people's minds on believing that sunlight will turn a vampire into ashes.
In my opinion, the reason vampire's don't like light is because their eyes are so sensitive. It's the radiation from the sun.
The sun gives me migranes as well and burns my eyes...however i love the day when its cloudy.....i see much better at night as well...some say i have cat eyes...only because i see so well in the dark....as for ash i think its a myth...
Well my thoughts on why vamps hate sunlight is because of the fact that they are considered "damned" or "creatures of satan" so the sun is the "light/eye of god" thus why it would bother them or harm them for it is considered "holy" while the moon is considered "not so holy" because of the fact that it is around during the night and steals its light from the sun....yup.....
Well, for me i can't be in the sunlight long. I happen to be a very light skinned person and every time i spend a long time in the sun I get blisters, i get sick, and my eyes are so screwed up from it being too bright. Even if I am in the sun for an hour my skin starts to itch like crazy, i get a headache, and my throat swells up.
as for the ashes thing that is Hollywood as mentioned before
I am not a vampire, and my factual knowledge on this subject is extremely limited, so, I will say why I hate daylight and prefer the night light.
I like many others react badly to sunlight, but more than that, the daylight is more popular with society.
I prefer to live my life alone, if I was a vampire I would choose to move around when others were at home in bed, why make life complicated. If there is a particular thing in life you want to avoid really badly, you have to make sacrifices, turns out, giving up daytime is no sacrifice at all for me.
I work nights, alone, and thats the way I like it.
With solitude comes safety or peace of mind from those which you detest or maybe detest you.
Another thing that appeals to me about the night is that if you have ever walked around your home town etc when it is night time, you will notice the difference, it's almost like walking around in a grave yard, so silent, so beautiful.
I can understand why hollywood turns vampires to ash in the movies, but, if they don't turn to ash, do they remain as a human would?
according to the Christian docturine the light (sunlight ect) is to represent the holy spirit and the light of love from god and considering that Vampires are fallen from gods grace the light is thier pain and anything that has to do with it. Of course Hollywood only embillished the idea and made it part of the myth of turnign to ash ect.
I love the sun..I sun bath..but I do have to have my shades..gives me headache..and my eyes hurt..but I sunbathe and am tan all winter..Fake is fake..
I do not like the way it feels on my skin. I used to, but only when I was very young. But turn to ash? Never . . .
I have to mention that I am impressed with the responses on this topic. I am glad it has been brought up. Thank You for posting this.
Well i have 3 answers why i dont like light. The first is that i (ussualy) sleep during the day and work at night... The second: All the time in my room is dark as night so i'm not used with sunlight and 3 :bright light is giving me migranes so take care what you do with that flashlight.....
I am Vampyr. I am a creature of balance in many ways.
I embrace the Night and her promise of serenity
I revel in the day and the life giving caress of the Sun invigourates.
Night and Day are the Cycle, each needing the other for completion just as lovers do.
I cannot know the evils of Night without knowing the goodness of the Day.
I cannot know of the abominations of the Day without knowing the sacred holiness of Night.
I affirm LIFE because I know DEATH so well. I do not turn away DEATH for from her again is the cycle complete.
From the life of the Sun gives life and also withers that which it has given life to the sunless Night which gives respite from the withering yet deprives life from light, each must ever be known.
When you look into the Eyes of the Vampyr, you will know. The Cycle is there.
I do not hate the sunlight, and I enjoy the warmth and tan I get from it. My eyes, however, are a different story. I can't stand even the mild brightness on a cloudy day. I have to wear sunglasses at all times outside or I squint like crazy. I think the problem a lot of vampires- real vampires, miind you- have with the sun is the constant bombardment of energy that they may not process very well. Also, the heightened sensitivity may cause us to be extra sensitive to the sunlight. There's nothing worse than trying to see on a sunny day with snow on the ground. unbelievable brightness.
because in the losing of their soul they become children of the night and in doing so are forced to renounce their day walking past and live a life of eternal damnation
there are so many reasons that this could be
1.) vampire were damned by a god and so therefore are cursed to linger in the shadows.
2.) vampires spend somuch time in the dark they get used to it and light is too much for there skin and eyes to handle
3.) vampires might have a dises which make the skin looses all of its pigment, so therefore sun gives then a really bad sunburn, and may eventually kill them.
it hurts their eyes and burns their skin.somtimes headaches, nausea and sleepiness.everyone else here seems to agree.there are some vampyres who get other problems too...but im not an expert on this, i know from what ive read and what my own problems consist of
okay this touches base a bit too much on the fictional character of a vampire..
Actual vampires do not usually have a problem with sunlight, except for health problems and such.
Most vampires tend to apprecate darkness and the night, but are not AFRAID of the light
yeah, why is it that vampires hate light??? whats up with that???
The light or the Sun? well, I think it's the Sun.
There's this theory, since Vampires are creatures of the night, they'd go firey-firey in the broad daylight.
Bah!
well its all fake and stuff..but i have always disliked the day..night person..and everytime i try to stay on a day sched. I l always revert ot night time hours only...the sun hurts me and its too bright and hot..blaahhh
i don't like the sun cause it is outside my lil room world and anything out of that can only hurt me and make me feel bad so the sun is a no no
I can´t be in the sun cause I get ill.
I get fever and itching spots that hurts when I skratch them. I don´t know why I get this but at the summer I stay indoors during the day.
Well they hate light because it's easier to see they are not perfect beings in the light than in the darkness.
I'm Not Sure... It May Have To Do with The Blood That Run's In Them ..That Sunlight Makes It Boil Inside Them
This is another case of hollywood, Real Vampires don't turn to ash because of sunlight or UV rays, I myself do not like the light as it bothers my eyes and cuse a great deal of pain.
they do not like the light/sunlight becuase of
photosensitive
I love the sunlight and a good day at the beach, park or that kinda thing. But sunglasses are on before I step outside unless it is dark! LOL My eyes have always been very light sensitive.
Simply put, they are creatures of the night, it is an extream really...the prospect of the sun causeing physical harm...hmm. I myself cannot be in the sun for to long I get ill and nausiated(sp) not to mention I find a pale complexion to be more attractive.
I am a creature of both worlds, but I have come to avoid the sun as much as possible because of where I live, especially during the summer when it gets to be 120 in the shade. I am very sensitive to light and sound, it occassionally gets so bad that I have to leave class momentarily to try to relax and refocus myself.
some beliefs actually believe that the sun is the eye of god, and nothing as evil as sin can live under it. as for the ash thing i think (and note this is just my thoughts) that IF they turn to ash then its god wiping out all trace. think about it whats the best way to get rid of evidense (my spelling sucks sorry)
The only time I hate sunlight is when I hear those stupid pigeons making noise in the morning, can anyone say shotgun?
Vampires hate sun light because it makes their dead skin disintegrate, break down, desolve whatever you wana call it
well, i love a day in the icecafé if the sun is burning me and tainting me.
but the fact is:
too much sun causes necrom effects (photosensitive)
as the skin-cancer will come out to people who are often in the sun .
Sunlight is able to make you blind,
with glasses you are even able to burn something ( like those ants down there)
scinse human beginning the sun (Aurora) was the mother of all good - a godness a protector.
christians couldn´t erase this mythologie of Aurora so they adopted the "useful" properties to them.
so sun became a hollywood helper for getting rid of creatures like vampyrs
Well, I don't like being out in the sun cause my eyes are super sensitive and I burn easily. I've been like that since 6th grade.
how many times is this post going to be created??? it was just shut down last night because its in the history files geez
Hollywood is to thank for many of the impressions we have of vampires.
Please advise me immediately if you see someone turn to ash/dust upon exposure to sunlight! :)
I am very light sensitive it kills my eyes but I also adore it so sunglasses baby!
I get in the little bit that I can as often as possible.
I also tend to get the headaches but turning to ash someone said it best above
Hollywood=BULLSHIT lol.
yeah this is basically the same post the other person did....
and you all don't agree about the pigeons? I mean seriously, the noise they make GARRRRR
My eyes hate the light...
I'm very lightsensitive, in a day the white of my eyes is red, and many days I've a dangerous hadhache...
In a day I use sunglasses..
ok they dont like light becuse there night beings. and we dont turn ro ashes thats all holywood. we just burn really bad really quick.
eh..to my understanding vampires get brittle in the daylight, and it takes centuries on end of absorbing moonlight to be slightly more powerful than human beings in the sun
It's the medical condition. I, myself, don't like sunlight. It hurts my eyes, drains my energy, and burns (I burn easily). I'm sure I don't have a medical condition for it, but I dislike it, so why subject myself to it? I'm moving to Hawaii next year (military purposes)... so I'll be stocking up on umbrellas, sunglasses, and SPF 70!
this is a good question and i like everybodys answer becuase it helps me to understand it
The moon is mesmerizing and has many strange effects on the earth as it is in such close proximity to it. It draws your attention more than the sun, as well for those who are photosensitive to sunlight will blister in the sun, which hurts like hell. This condition is not the same as i have, but i have always felt like a nocturnal creature of the night. Drawn to darkness and weak and tired in the daylight. Anyway, Thx for this post.
I really think it was due to pschological conditioning when they were very very little vampires. I bet that their parents never put a night light out for them in their room.
So because I didn't have a night light when I was little, I have grown to dislike anything to do with light and prefer darkness instead? Kinda odd...
I'm not a vampire, but as a writer of vampire fiction, I felt I needed to offer some explanation to readers as to why vampires hate the sunlight, as well as a whole host of "traditional" myths. In my books, I do not treat vampires as "evil," or even as "supernatural," so it ws important for me to be able to explain some of these things in a semi-rational manner. In my books, vampires are just another species, one that is higher, or more advanced, than humans. One of the examples from my writing is that cats only see black-and-white. Dogs see colors, but not the same colors that humans do. These differences are a result of the physical construct of their eyes...number of rods & cones, etc. Humans tend to believe, rather arrogantly I think, that what THEY see is the ultimate truth but the reality is that all humans see is what the physical construct of THEIR eyes allows them to see. Vampires, then, if they were more advanced, would have more developed eyes and would be able to see more of "reality" than can humans. If that was the case, then would it not be reasonanble to say that, since they can see more, then their eyes might be by their very nature sensitive to sunlight? Sure it's fiction, but that's how I chose to reason it out.
Yep you can thank your upbringing for that. The conditioning of not having that night light was detrimental to you enjoying morning walks in the sun or playing volley ball on the beach in the afternoon.
