Ok, first of all I'm addressing the traditional/stereotypical/hollywood created version of vampirism and these were a couple of my thoughts from my suicidal days and I was just wondering about other thoughts on it.
I used to believe that suicide could be compared or even equated with choosing to be a vampire, if you had the choice. I believed that both were ways to escape life and in my case what I believed as the cursed of humanity and also a way to control death. I personally wanted to control death since I felt I couldn't control my life and I found vampires as an alternative to life but not necessarily death. I believed that vampirism was a way of being a part of this world yet not limited or trapped within the trivial details of it.
Also, I believe that death is not an ending but a way to another plane of existance or even another form of reincarnation.
Please tell me what you think.
i can see where you have created an essential relation or similarity between 'a choice of vampirisim' and that to end one's mortal life. there are distinct similarities present within either situation, yes but only within fictional terms..
if you consider vampirism as a choice, all similarities are truth.. though, vampirisim seems to be recognised as a state where little to no personal choice is optional..
hmm,
nice post.
daeg.
The walking Undead, suicidal Imortality. Quite a thought process.
People will always search for an escape whether it's suicide vampirism and whatever.
A very thought provoking post, which I thank you for.
I think tht, although you have this very well thought out in your own ideologies of vampirim and your own existence, I think psychologically it's more a case of creating your own, new persona, which is as far away from your own life as you can get... a way of mental escapism from the life that you felt you couldn't control, and a new idyllic persona which is supported by these media elements.
When thinking of suicide, one may or may not have a life of some kind afterwards to start over. The veil is still thick. The person only seeks a way out of the present moment.
Looking forward to being a vampire by choice is not a unknown. There is no veil that separates you. And my personal view is that a vampire's life is not an escape of life but a greater closeness to life. I see the two as totally two different things.
The battle of life and death will perplex humanity until the end of time. Life is Life and death is death and they do follow each other and we will always want to control both. It just depends on how you wish to control it.
Billy, you have a very good point, I also see vampirism as a closer element in many ways.
There is also the fact that suicide deals only with the physical body, at least for the most part. While being a vampire is all about the energy. Again, for the most part. Still - two different. Unless one wishes to nick - pick over the little things.
IN many cultures suicides are considered ghastly if done out of the blue. However there are 'honorable suicides' like in days of Olde.
I can see where the soul walks the earth for eternity, now knowing what it misses by watching the living, but I'm not entirely sure if this comparison is still correct.
ok, cool, thanks for the posts, I wasn't exactly sure if anyone was going to understand what I meant. Im not very clear on some things, lol
Many times in life i felt the inabilities to control what i wanted to and found peace of mind in astral travel. Its a way for me to escape our plain of reality and travel anywhere i wanted to go. If only for a moment in time i was able to travel outside my body and go somewhere i had never been it was enough for me to clear my head and relax.
I agree with you, except for the fact that none of us has ever been able to actually die, like they do in the books and movies.
Shadowgirl
SOME people can no longer handle the issues of life that's why they embrace the easy path even if it would cost one souls damnation.
Think about that.
I am not sure about the connection between the two but I only saw suicide attempts as an end to my pain that I was going through not as a way to become immortal or vampirism. If a person has any vampirism in them I feel they are born with it for the most part.
*laughs at DarkAdmin*
It's nice to see you again!
I think Billy, that it's more a case of the mental than you are contemplating. Suicide consideration and attempts, even when entwining that with the prospect fo a more mythical vamprism, is very much a state of changing your conditions to reach a different state, away from your current frame of mind.
In the map of life, many of us can feel that when we reach a dead end, it's easier to escape than to turn around and find a new path, especially when something such as vamprism offers a whole new path without a back-track.
Death in my opinion is only the gateway to a new life and depending on how you die will determine how your reincranated life will be
personaly I agree with you. I know where your coming from...
persinaly i dont think suiside was the way, i my self see the vampire world as limitless and boundless as you make it to be, as for the reincarnation well we all know that there is more then one plane, you got the phisical plane ( the world as you know it) then theres the spectral plane, aka pergitory /anything in between. this is how i see it my self but again this is just me
death by chioce is like makeing a strawberry malted milkshake,
you get to a piont were the last ingreediant is to be added only to find you do not have it, there fore your end product is not a strawberry malted milkshake
energy is transferable yet the end product is never finnished till all the particles of energy are in place
to be able to chose a destiny through death without fully understanding the energy needed to become this destiny is a billion to one shot. good luck to those that have chosen or gone this path.
I have the same view as you in that when you die you are recarnated in some form, but talking from my own feelings on suicide and still pretty suicidal when i dont have my meds, the only thing i think about is that the world wouldnt miss me,aswell as family, also im just a burden to everyone, that im weird, ugly, hopeless and that if i died i could come back as someone or something different that has purpose. The only thing that stops me topping myself is that firstly id fuck it up,secondly i have a great girlfriend who understands what i go through, being diagnosed with bi polar and thirdly having multi personallity disorder helps me as the good side tells me not to do it and shuts out the other two nasty sides that want to distroy me(he gives me strenght). To me vampirism doesnt come into it for me.Hope i havent bored you,it is a great thought provoking post though.
the greatest thing is to be a vampire but to look like a mortal so no-one will suspect you untill you take them and dispose of their corpse...
This prolly isn't part of the topic in general but, I really am not INTO suicide or even talking about it.
Sucide is just another way of saying: "That`s it, I`m too coward to fight with life!"... it is not a good option!
On the other hand, vampirism is a continuous struggle with your needs, with your will...even with life itself...so, from this point of view, it is a good thing, making you feel alive!
Seeing first hand what suicide does to someone...
It is a very selfish act... One that I tried to do...
Someone very close to me had there mom kill herself when he was only 7. It fucked him up...
As far as being vampire... I don't know...
Do I think they have anything in common? no I don't...
Phear:
Great point made, sir - I like your articulation so much that I printed it off to give to my suicidal housemate...
thankee sai
*deep curtsey*
~mindless.
persinaly this is my vew on suiside.
1: people dont talk about it they just do it those who talk about it persinaly i think are just thriveing for atenchion if you were goign to do it woul wouldn't sit here saying " oh im gonna kill my self" that right there is basiclky saying in a round about way " hey im going to atempt to kill my self stop me please"
2: suiside is the "easy" way out of things i think persinaly, if your life was so hard then up and leave it dont sit there and kil your self cause you lost your boy friend or girl friend or job or something like that, granet i can understand some cases but the ones im talking about are those of teenagers.
Not everyone who say they are thinking about killing themselves is trying to get *attention*. To make that kind of assumption can be not only callous, but a shove in the direction of suicide for the person that came to you for help.
Suicide is always the easiest way out, but sometimes there are hardly no other ways so sometimes it is the better choice...
I had 2 friends who killed themselves, it affected alot of people around them, including me, I miss them alot..
In my opinion, everything stops after death, so after suicide comes emptiness..
I believe that you are reincartnated after death...but I believe you come back as yourself...but you have another chance to get it right....kind of like that movie Groundhog day.
I see no connection between vampirism and suicide. I also don't believe there is ever a time when suicide is the answer, although I'm sure those who consider it may just be trying to stop the pain, and can't see beyond the pain of the moment.
For me these are two different things and i dont type = between them :)
you can think what you want but maybe the reason some want to be vampires is b/c they are looking for a sence of adventure
Vampirism isn't technically suicide since while vampires are not alive, they are not strictly speaking dead. The more common connection that I have seen between vampirism and suicide are vampires comitting sucide because what they are becomes an ubearable burdon.
becoming a vampire is a much better, because not only will you be able to drink blood but you also get to kill people......*evil laugh*
Vampirism and sucicide after thinking hard have a strong link since you are willingly, most of the time, to give up your mortallity and live forever
I wouldnt exactly call it death, being a vampire is much more fun than calling it a death experience then there is nothing involved in it.
i think that would be easy, and anything easy is trying to trick you. there is nothing easy in this world, except maybe suffering.
besides, turning to a vampire would be a tramatic process on the mind and the body, and if one were suicidal before hand, they'd most likely suffer a complete breakdown.
I don't know if you are suicididal and you actually become a vampire that process involves dieing so it makes me wonder with that person who was suicidal actually dies and then is re-born would they still want to die?
no, im not suicidal anymore. I've just always wondered about this. I'm not sure I guess it would depend on the person, if the process was tramatic or not, and if they had someone to guide them afterwards.
suicide and vampirism..i dont see the connection........suicide is just another way of giving up to me....
I agree i don't see see the connection between suicide and vampirism.Suicide is just the easy way out, instead of fighting or getting up and dusting your ass off and starting again, but vampirism would be a choice to die and come back as undead and live again.
