ive heard of it before, watched White Noise. i liked it.

though i believe it could work etc. i sorta tryed it before, though i dont have a recorder to actually record it backwards, so nothing really happened. ive b3en interested in Paranormal for a while. has anyone ever done EVP? In case you didnt know EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon. you like find a radio, search through like frequency through your radio no where near a radio broadcasting station and like record it for a a fair while, then play it back wards after the tape has finished. sometimes you can actually hear the dead communicateing to us through it. its really quite strange, i hope i can get the equipment and try it out sometime s0on, has anyone ever done this? or known a friend who has? if so post your experiences.

I tried it as a teenager, but in the book i had about it, it said nothing about playing it backwards. I'm still not sure if what i heard was just my imagination or real words.

Evp is something I have always been fascinated by and have took part in many times.. I've held the recorder and asked questions. I've gotten nice results to.

Yes i find this really intriguing, gives me goosebumps. I've seen Tv programs that have used this form of recording spiritual accivity. And the playbacks have been amazing, and just think what this kind of evidence could mean to actually know without reasonable doubt that you live on after death in some form that death isn't the end of it all proof that we can exist outside of our bodies. But this is not tangible proof and could be other things we don't know much about our brains could this simply be our projected thoughts manipulating reality, or some other kind of phenomenon no one knows for sure maybe this is why it is so intriguing

E.V.P.'s are best done in places that are know to have spirits...., I would suggest graveyards....., closed down jails or mental institutions..., places that are know for hauntings........., and if you are really interested there is a web site in My profile......, I beleive it is the second one......., look up the past shows and you will see they have had several shows with E.V.P.'S....., use a tape recorder....., most E.V.P.'s occur foward not backward......., an dthey willl be heard if you turn the tape up....,

i believe thank the spirit world speaks to us in many ways its just a matter of knowing want u are listening for. so yes i believe in EVP

I think it could actually happen, I mean there is sufficient proof out there that things like this could happen even thought most people pass it off as if it is just some kind of fad that is impossible. I believe highly in Ghosts and that they can communicate with us using many different electronics... of course that is just me.

an EVP Message are those messages that you record and play backwards, right?

As for EVP - I think it exists. I have never experienced the phenomena myself however.

i heared about that and theres been a radio show in the 90 wich was just about this topic.
it was broadcasted by Radio Luxembourg and i enjoyed it very much, trying to find stuff in the tapes they played.

Let me preface my comments by saying that anything is possible and until I see/hear it for myself, I discount nothing. However:

There's an awful lot of stray interference in most radio spectrums to produce random, and some not so random sound variations in a receiver. Playing it backwards and listening real hard is a recipe for wishful thinking.

Ever notice how this stuff is always "Play it backwards"? Why would the dead communicate backwards? I could come up with a reason like because "the spirit world as a reflection of our own transposes their voices" but it's taking unfounded reasoning and trying to fit it to the desired ends.

Of course, if my grandfather talks to me through the radio tonight, I'll disavow this post. ;-)

I use to read about the paranormal all the time when i was in school, just even when i was in the library and had work to do i would just go and look up books that interested me instead of doing what i was suppose to do. But yeah, i've read up on EVPs and sometimes the recording can be played backwards but its rare to have "a voice" be that way on the tape. But this kind of stuff happens when you least expect to happen 70-80% of the time though.

I have not seen the movie yet, I do want to. So until I see it. I am not sure how to respond.

I've tried doing an EVP in my basement, because I live in an older house. Made in the late 1800s. It didn't work too well because my recorder sucked balls. I want to save up for a really nice camcorder so I can film around places, and record sound, obviously.

I do not have the proper equipment and would so love to get with others sometime and see what we come up wtih. Like others, I try to seek out ghosts.

This is also a very interesting thread for me i would like to try a EVP , on one hand to see i could hear from my lost ones . But then again i would be afraid that that you would bring forth a entity .....

i been wanting to move into a house with atleast 1 (friendly) sperit living there. i want to do EVP so that i can hear him/her when he/she talks back. being that i cand hear it on my own. evp would be the best thing for me. ghosts to me are like evry1 else only without a sgell. to live with 1 as well as talk to him/her would be a plessing if theres no1 else around that understands you.

Your right, the best places are known haunted sites. I also suggest that before you venture into any site that you obtain permission first. The fines for trespassing are steep and can include jail time as well.

If your interested in EVP and want to learn more check out the internet for a paranormal group near you that you can join. Or watch the section of this forum for organized groups/tours. I'll be taking a group to Gettysburg the end of June. That's a perfect place to get a great EVP.

As for my experiences, I have had many where I have gotten clear messages on tape. In fact I will be doing that very thing next weekend in Eagles Mere, Pa.

When we were kids, my sisters and I tried catching WEIRD SOUNDS AND MESSAGES in the radio by changing the radio's station (by rolling the dial, of course.)

We didn't get any GHOST messages. BUT we GOT an alien message and stuff from a radio station though we couldn't understand. It was in another language.

It was a Taiwanese Radio Station.

Since I'm near Taiwan, that's what happened.

Oh well, it still counts as weird messages. lol!

I think a lot of the supernatural stuff is wishful thinking. like when you go to a medium to talk to your dead family or friend. or when you go to a tarot card reading. I went to a few, funnily 70% of them told me to be careful in traffic lol.

I read tarot cards myself and other cards too, so its not that i dont know what im talking about. Most is intuition, observing and listening if you read it to others.

The EVP msgs, yes i think most of the time you hear what you want to hear. If you really miss someone who just resently died and your desperate to get a sign from them, you would believe in anything, even if it is just a fart on the other end of the phone.

The magic word is 'Interpretation' :)

I saw 'White Noise' too and i think sometimes we just should let the dead rest and not bother them with all the poking into their realm.

The power of suggestion is amazingly strong.

If you tell someone to listen to something and write down what they hear, they may hear nothing or something totally different than you.

If you say "Hey, listen to this, it sounds like a ghost saying 'General Lee' " then that's probably what they'll hear.

i beleave in all that stuff but mostly i beleave in ghosts i would tell you guys something but im going to keep my mouth shut cause theres alot of people out in this world that dont beleve in this kind of stuff so i dont uselly tell people

Well i think thats all pretty exciting and fascinating... but how can you tell if the person you think is sending you the message is not an imposter. it could be an evil spirit pretending to be someone you knew. be careful is all im saying.

like if i turn off the volume knob on my guitar, and like just sit there, eventually ill hear a radio station or people talking, its pretty sweet, and a little scary, but sweet.

I have never tried it but I have heard of people who have. And to be honest I deal with enough spirits without having to search to hear from them.

I've researched EVP on the internet and have found some very interesting examples. I doubted it at one point but I have heard too many things to just dismiss it anymore.

thanks for your posts people, ghosts really fascinate me etc, and i watched a movie 2 nights ago, called Entity. that is pretty freaky stuff in that movie.. it actually still happens to her today.. sometimes scares me, like what happens to the gurl in the movie, still happens to the gurl who lived through it today, if anyone who hasnt watched the movie, its a story about a super natural terror that happen in California, October 1976, her name was Carla Moran. she was continuesly raped by a ghost.. her son even tryed stopping the ghost one day, and broke his arm trying to help. she had paranormal investigators out to help her, they saw the bad spirit and tryed everything to stop him. they failed, i think she still lives today, but in Mexico, though the rapes by the ghost still continues even till today, just not as alot, and not as intense, ive heard alot of ghost stories etc, its really really freaky, but i love paranormal.

EVP is some pretty strong stuff, i know some people who have done it with excellent results, but you gotta be careful who you are messing with because as in the movie, not all ghosts are good ones and there are some out there that just want to hurt you.

Yes ive watched the movie Entity it`s amazing story . I feel really bad for the woman she`ll never have a normal life.

in white noise weren't there also some visuals recorded? I find the whole thing interesting, altho I've never had any luck at it.

I have done it and I have a group and we investigate the paranormal..You do not need to play it backwards. You can download it into your computer or just play it like a normal tape and listen.Some recordings are so clear that you can hear what is being said word for word. The best thing to do is get the quipment that you can use to take out all the backgrounds noise like the tape itself . Some recorders pick up the noise from the tape that is runing.

I've never heard of playing it backward....

I have also tried EVP and it really works, if you sit in a quiet enviorment and concentrate on whats going on. You can get great results..

I have tried it and it works, you just really have to concentrate. But the playing it backwards thing is just bs.

First and formost the only thing that u were suppose to play backwards were records of songs that had so called hidden messages, the evp thing comes to u direct no playing backwards.

When trying to get EVP to work u need to turn to a frequency that is not being used by any radio station so u only get static, listen closely and after long periods of time if there are spirits around u will hear what seems to be talking, whispering or screaming. It is due to the energy used by the spirits interfering with the noise given off by frequencies that are unused by radio stations which send electronic data through special frequencies to ur radio.

If u are open minded enough u will hear them without this form of media, just open ur mind to new posibilities and listen closely as you may not hear them like u do on the radio but u will know what they are talking about.

I also believe in evp. Have yet to try but looking forward to in the future

EVP is a very interesting subject that i am going to have to look more into

the movie is ok but half of it doesent happen in real life. if you own the dvd, watch the special features. that is what a true evp is.
