well we all know the myths and tall tails of what a vampires weakness and fears are..but what are there true weaknesses..and what do they fear.

Which vampires are you talking about?Real vampires or Hollywood type? Because real vampires can fear the lack of blood resources or blood donors, or psy-vampires can fear about being discovered and taken action against them... Hollywood type is a whole anoter site-for-dummies story!!!

vampires weakness are the exact same as every human, there all different depending on the vampire...well at least that makes more sense then "all vampires are weak to light, garlic and hoyl water"

Well, aside from needing energy, we have the same weaknesses and fears of every human being. Well, aside from personal fears...

A swift kick in the crotch can take just about anyone down, male or female, vampire or mortal.

The point is that we're physically no different from anyone else.

hollywood has given vamps a lot of fears but in my opinion if the fears apply to real ones...i'd say being discovered, light, lack of food/resources and perhaps a bullet to the head. that makes the most sense.

The truth is, we have the same weakness as all humans... If you prick us, do we not bleed?... We are more sensitive than humans; atleast that is what I observe... I know I feel horrible after too much sun exposure, but many humans feel that way... I can sense storms and changes in nature... As for fears, to each his own... We cannot generalize anything to fit the whole vampire population... We are each different and special in our own ways...

It honestly doesn't matter whether we be human, vampire, etc... We're just different because we exist on a different level than what others are use to. And of course we experience the same pain, yet deep inside of us we each house our inner animals/demons if you wish to call it. I admit I'm still searching through the darkness, yet so be it if I must continue since I'm fairly new to it.

firewolf~ i think everyone in some point of their lives, fears dying, some accept it and others forget about it and live like immortals. but i think that here for this post, there is no overall fear or weakness. each of us have different genes, and we are all different creatures capiable of different things. some humans (albinos) cant stay in the sun at all, their skin is so light due to a pigment disorder, they burn and ... get really bad. to sum it up without taking half a page. we all are different like othere people were saying...i just thought i would like to add my two cents. :)

Ironicaly however.. I do take Imitrex for migraines.. I get horrible chronic mirgraines that are generaly brought on by intense light, staying in the sun for over 30 mins with no breaks or shade, and intense heat.

(I also have the quirk.. of not being able to eat hardly anything before noon or 1pm.. It makes me extremely ill to my stomach.?

I fear certain people. If I get a sense that they are not nice or someone who will hurt someone else for kicks, then I feel unsafe around them. I usually avoid them and try to stay out of their striking distance.

I do not like feeling unsafe.

I do have certain fears that seems irrasanables, like ptich black, even if I can,mt stand the sun long otherwise my skin hurts, it itches and I get burn within less then an houre, other then that I guess I have not ther fears different then humains do have, maybe my stupid flash that I get in my head images or words coming from poeple or suroundings that just pop inmy head, they are things that happne in the futur, but still they give me shit cause they scare me, so they are my fear and a weakness cause I then know things I dont wanna know.

I am extremely fearful of heights and very claustrophobic...wierd things for a Vampire.

each vamp will have their own fear but passing away without impacting a persons life in a good way is a terrible way to go. my friend died 2 months ago at the age of 16. no one cared to be his friend but me and a select few. this saddened his family because he had few friends. so make friends and thrive. thats why i joined VR.

well in simple terms. as EVERYONE else has posted. we have individiual fears.
i one the other hand. are no so weak to post mine. because people need not know what can get to me.

We're talking legends. Vampires, were caught in the act often, or witnessed.. so probably large angry mods(as both fear and weakness), the almost universal(but not totally) nocturnal flaw of being cursed to darkness(light, sun as a fear/weakness), and the mutliple ways to destroy them when you find them immobile during the day. Priests giving Last Rites, the funeral pyre, beheading and/or staking, burying on holy ground are all very plausable ways for a Vampire in Legend to meet their end. Although many civilized cultures view graverobbery and desecration of a corpse to be the lowest form of sin(evil, karme, whateva) one could stoop to. To any extent, all of those would be weaknesses.

Generally, from Historical accounts, vampires fled when discovered by anyone in their task(Which is why most are accounts of identification, then digging up, I'm also reestablishing they were caught often enough to have a History at all. ;) ), and some only left after raging, or satiating a need. I would say contact with anyone(yes, including angry mobs) outside of their intended meaning, or purpose would cause them to flee. I haven't heard ot to many actual Vampire cases occuring in large areas, or populated cities.

Anyway... Hope I didn't ramble to much. Good topic!!

I will side with those who say that every vampire is different be they psy-vamp or haema-vamp, etc... just like the varying fears of humans, fears vary for vamps as well. Some fear a cross, others don't, that sort of thing. :-)

The sun burns me, and I am left with wounds or marks that are invisible and I am physically fine, but I can still feel them. Takes about 88% immersion in darkness or more to regenerate completely.


Garlic to me sticks out as an ingredient. I am able to decipher it from spaghetti sauce with just one taste.I find eating it not necessarily disgusting but afterward, the taste I find repugnant.


Our condition is different for all vampires. Some garlic has no effect whatsoever, and some will be thrown into a seizure (potentially).

I think they might really fear the parts of themselves they've lost.... things they no longer have... fear of the lost and unknown...

why bother fearing anything...you'll cease to exist at some point anyway...from sunlight to your master being tired of you.

Fear is a healthy thing to have. It increases your awareness in moments of danger as well as boosting things like strength, endurance and other adrenaline based physiology. The trick is to understand your fear so that it doesn't become panic.

obsessive compulsions are a trait that run common in vampires the idea to leave something in they're mind or they're life unorganised is unbearable

As long as some of us has been around, weakness and fears fade away....You learn you limits and after the years there is nothing left to fear....

I think everyone has a weakness or fear.. for some, it might be the fear of having a weakness.

I've never given any real thought to what a vampire's weakness and fear is. That's something to think on though.

fear is an illusion set forth by the mind. the mind of a vampire is above and beyond that of a normal human beings. well, the more 'evolved' anyways!

I dont see fear as an illusion when it can cause someone to panic or freeze up at the sight of a snake or spider or being in a high place.

Fear is a combination of the psyche and our body acting in concert to help us negotiate the "FIGHT or FLIGHT" dilema. Fear is NOT a weakness at all ... for without it, none of us would be able to appreciate safety and security.

As many here know, I have treated Vampyre before in my professional practice [although I have spoken of only one] ... so I must disagree with Gravepleasures, at least within my professional experience ...

My experience with those that I have treated is that Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD] "runs's" as common in Vamps as it does in the general population.

Lastly, with reagrd to the general question of this thread, as I have said, I echo Lord Felix and anyone else who ascribes to the idea that Fears and Weaknesses are no differnt than in the general population upon this planet ...

Heartagram - I'm curious how much of a need it is as opposed to a want. As far as it being a weakness, it woud seem that if the energy simply needs to come from another person, then it's unlikely that you'll find yourself without anytime soon.

Lack of blood and a extremly bright sunny day is pretty much a pain in the rear for me...

my only weakness is fear. i hate f***ing spiders. but other than that... i agree. There's really no difference between us and the average person in weaknesses and such.

The only true weakness, and fears anyone has is that which they place value in.

Since no one has ever at less that i know of who has met a vampire. Why cant a vampire have normal fears like us. They can have strong power like being able to fly or not be seen in mirrors.

i hate the sunlight well even bright day light,crosses im ok with prefer celtic ones tho,garlic is a myth cos i luv it,lol churches im not too keen on ,but that s maybe cos its boring,lol

...probably the same diverse fears and weaknesses that "regular" people have..Please don't forget...Vampires are humans so we share the same basic weaknesses...We are accelerated on the astral side of existence and have a little more physical and/or psychic needs, so our fears can include all human fears and then some.

What I don't get is that poeple always try to seperate Vampires from Humans... That is an incorrect assumption in my book... Vampirism is a personality trait. Whether it is genetic or learned, it means that everybody is the same and nothing is the same... So to ask what a vampire fears and what his weakness is... well that is like going to Time Square and asking the people there that....

My weakness, I would have to say my self doubt... As for my fear, that is easy, to hurt those I love and die alone.....

Love... Everyone is afraid of love. Whether we taste it and do not want it to end, whether we believe we are loving something that should not be loved, or if we could ever find it to begin with. Perhaps it could be a vampire's fear. Vampire's haven't exactly had a good reputation because of the fictional movies always showing them as villians. Love can be hard to find. This, no doubt, can make it harder...

Fear of ideas or things in life comes from ignorance and lack of understanding mostly. We fear the unkown simply because no one knows what it is to relieve our fears. eh...i think i just cunfuzzled myself...need coffee....

Agreed. Perhaps we are all afraid of life itself; what it may or may not hold for us. What we do not know, understand, or see what may be there.

But could our greatest fear not be life, but death. Something no one really knows all too well, until they have passed, in which communition can be difficult. A fear that nothingness or pain lies on the other side...

Everyone else seems to be saying exactly what I've been thnking.... Vampires have the same types of fears and weaknesses as most human beings....

Yes, relatively the same fears, but something that catches me time and again is the fear of being known. Not only do I see this in fiction, but real vampires as well seem to be fond of mystery. In the movies vampires are afraid of being known to the public to avoid a war of conflict toward them. That may also apply to the real ones since they are dark to begin with, which can be misinterpreted, and they have this bad reputation from those movies.

They may also believe that vampirism is not for everyone. Just think what would happen if everyone was a vampire; all the misinterpretations and misunderstandings could lead to chaos.

Now weakness is a different story. I believe vampires have basically the same weaknesses as everyone else, besides getting sunpoisoning so very easily. In fact, they even seem to be a little stronger. Some believe they get just alittle stronger after drinking blood. I do not know if this is true, but I do believe they are stronger in mind.
