So yeah this is a VR related thing so this is going here.

Say a person decided to leave VR and has a pretty good account, lvl 10 or more just to say off hand.

Now would it be right for a person to ask that the deleting person to gift the account to a friend of their "just so they do not have to start from the bottom" ?

I mean this has all sorts of ethical things that are wrong with it. Mainly unless its a PM you cannot change the name and then it causes confusion.

Also there is the fact that the person is getting privileges that they didnt even earn and someone else worked hard on.

I mean all of us worked our asses off so that we could get to where we are at, what right does someone thats never been on this site have to get a cushy account of a person thats fixing to delete it?

I can t see any reason and the mere thought that someones been asking people this is sickening.

I think its wrong that someone can start of at a high level without earning it.

Sorry pennywise, I would have to disagree with you on this one! I have often times thought that if I ever decided to delete, that I would probably think about giving my account to a friend instead or even to a random whelp! It would make it harder with a free account, but then I still think it would be okay with me! I think if it's a pm they should change the name & the complete profile design! If it's a free account, maybe make a mention about the person giving you the account, state when it switched to the person now on it & etc....I mean the person that did all the work, well for me I wouldn't feel like all my effort & time here was so wasted if I gave it to someone rather than just deleting it! Deleting would make me feel like I threw all my hard work & time away!

Personally I think its bogus that anyone would ask anyone else to do this..I mean people work hard to get there levels up and then just because real life gets in the way and might have to delete their account ...UGGHHH stupid stupid stupid

It is soo wrong. Its like a rich person getting what ever the hell they want cause they have money.

A person should not get a cushy ride on VR just cause someone is leaving and they want the account. If they want the perks then they need to earn them just like anyone else does.

and personally if someone announced that they were giving an account to somebody Id be inclined to down rate that person for the fact that I view that as cheap and underhanded and plian wrong.

I must agree with everyone the basis of this site is the work you put into it. If you are going to just give someone the rank and title may as well just change the name to myspace .

I would hope that the person giving up the account would have more respect of the people that they are leaving behind, than to let them have a confusing high status member barging around when they really haven't had the time to understand what VR is all about

My ranking is not very high and I can honestly say I would not accept a gifted account. A persons profile is completely related to them and even if you changed everything it still wouldn't feel right. I'm big on recycling but the time and energy spent here shouldn't be given away.

While I have no problem with transferring the remainder of a premium membership I cannot agree with the transfer of a profile/identity. The time you spend here on vr rising through the levels is how we learn how the site works, gain knowledge and meet others. Some things just should not be done and this is one of them. I would also have a problem with someone asking me to do this.

While one might respect the site and the level, working to make it...another might not.

Earn what you have.
