ok ive had this thought in my head for days now and wanted it of my chest.

im trying to figure out what do werewolves do and how they do things i mean like do they live forever or just for a period of time and in that time do they just hunt eat sleep? what do you people think?

I think they only live so long, and all they do is hunt, eat, and sleep, just like a regular wolf.

my brother lives a normal(well somewhat) life from day to day. he heals faster than most wich can be annoying, he does stuggle at times to control his thirst and the pent up enery that he has but defintly does more than hunt and sleep.

I suppose they are beings like everyone else just trying to survive. Living an existence the best way they can.

I adore the werewolves myths, but I always believed they were ficititous characters.

I cannot really atest to knowing any man-wolf creature. Werewolves have always been interesting, but I am not sure they are real. I would probably have to witness the change over with my own eyes to believe...

But in the mythical sense, it seems they eat, sleep, hunt, and destroy things when there are more wolf like, and are sympathetic cuddly people when they are human.

Werewolves are also immortal, they just don't have much of a choice like vampires do, werewolves can't stop themselves from feeding they are like a normal wild animal, but they are immortal.

I believe that they are just like wolves. The hunt, eat, and sleep. But, I also believe that they have the tendency to heal faster than other beings.

I think they live as long as their human half would.

There are two versions of the Lycan form.

Those that exist as the animal who hunt because of the hunger that drives them. They are little more than rabid animals.
It is in thier blood and they can not controle themselves. Those that have managed to gain what little control they have over thier form have taken ceturies to do it. But no they are no more immortal than anything else.

The second is bound to the spirit of the wolf and is able to control thier hunger and thirst better. They have chosen thier path willingly and knew the consicquences of thier actions.

But this is only from my experiance.

their life is extended and their streingh is bigger, also they have a better immune system, with a faster healing ability. They have less of a night lifestyle but still are more active during night when they are active. Their sens are enhance, they are not immortal but do live longer then humans.

Werewolves don't changed into Wolves.
They do not howl at the moon.
They do not live forever.
They have extremely high tempers, almost like bi-polar.
They may get 'edgy' during a full-moon, but they will not shift their forms

I know many therianthropes from kin groups. I believe they would be appalled at the things most people have said about were's.

They live, they breathe, they eat, they sleep, they marry, they have children, they hold jobs, they are mothers/fathers/sons/daughters/brothers/sisters.

Some go camping, some go hiking, some fish. Some are into reinactments. Some are into reading, acting, watching movies, martial arts, listening to music.

They are PEOPLE. Just like you. Just like me.

They eat, sleep, breathe, reproduce and live and die just like everyone else, any enhanced abilities would have to be proven to exist. It is the spirit that may go forward but the body will eventually end.

Lycanthropes are mortal, with the same lifespan as other humans. the only difference is that they rarely die from disease or misfortune. They usually die of old age, after aging gracefully.

Ah xxEmaeraldxx, perhaps I need to rephrase myself, It's my opinion only that should they exist they will someday die as the rest of us living creatures will do. I believe the spirit may continue to another life but not the physical form. If you should run across that proof I'd love to take a look myself as I have never actually met a werewolf in person.

My husbend does more then eat, sleep and hunt...
he holds a job, raises kids, and does the dishes...(sounds like a "normal human" to me.
But his Beast is powerful and strong willed, and protective. and yes there are the ups and downs of living a duel life but
I think he's better for it.

I think that the idea that lycans live forever is a sweet idea, but they are born, and they die, can get sick, and can love.

the Loup-Garou that i know are extremely difficult to befriend, but when you do gain their trust, they would guard you with their lives.. and i would guard them with mine.

They age slower, heal faster and live longer but not forever. They have to change during the full moon, and can choose whether or not to change the rest of the month.

I love the myths, however, a creature so animalistic that they can even turn on one another (unlike wolf clans) is bound to extinct themselves. It would only be a nayural course of things over time. Thisincludes the others they infect. Who could possibly know hopw to handle the trauma and Im sure most go crzy. It makes the hunger pains silence and allows for no interruption. Im afraid of werewolves (cuz I see them all the time lol) but the mythos with it. They are sexy, brutal, powerful, occasionally engaging but can also run me down faster than a slug and tear out my throat.

I don't know a werewolf myself..but my friend who is a vampyre is friends with a werewolf (over the internet).. the way my vamp friend and I see it...werewolf is a being that is possessed by a wolf spirit, so they go through a spritual/mental change, but not a physical...I believe they deal with muscle pains after the spirit takes control because the spirit would think it was in its own body and would do thinks like it would if it were still a wolf...So that means it would run of four legs and hunt for things...Meaning that the person that is possessed would feel whatever the wolf experienced with their body...The person that is possessed lives their lives like any other "normal" person, but wouldn't when the wolf took over (of course..)...

werewolves only hunt in the wolf stage. In human form they are like any normal citizen, they go to work, some have families, and are either rich, poor, or working class. They have better healing factor than normal people, which explains why they have long life spans.

I believe that nothing lives forever be it Vampires, Werewolves, or Humans. As for what they do during their lives I have no idea. Sorry!

many things on here are very very accurate. im suprised that one has heard of jackle in this age. yes it is true he was sent from hell from that pussy satan. as for his purpose it is still misunderstood. he was not to destroy the vampyre world but rid the world of those who fought against hell. as for this conversation it seems as if some know more than others about my kind but one does not know everything about something they are not. i am not saying what has been said is wrong i am saying it is not complete. the lycan community is one of many secrets that only we know and we do not speak of everything about us. we regenerate at high speeds, we are faster than most, incredibley strong we neccessary, we do hunt and eat and sleep. as for the part about being immortal, not all of us are. there are many many many spirits out there that are immortal. this fleshy body will eventually fade away but the spirit will continue to live on for the rest of eternity.

If a full moon made me energetic and sleepless, I don't know that my first thought would be that I'm a werewolf, wolfbane. Is there more? And you alluded to running faster than other people during the full moon...who are you having full moon footraces with and have you actually timed the difference between then and a regular moon?

And while we're on the matter of the full moon...why would it have that effect on someone? What measurable difference does the moon have on the body and why? Please allude to "measurable" differences. Please do not reference gravity which is close to zero on a body the size of a human.

On my opinion I think that all they do is hunt eat and sleep.In movies they die with a silver bullet but I am not sure if that is true or not

I think wolves are like dogs but free from ppl and can roam the world without a person dictating to them. They can do what they want when they want it and no person can say bad dog. Plus some ppl leave them alone because they're afraid of them so its more freedom for them, the only bad part is some ppl try shoting them because they're afraid which is stupid, they should leave them alone so they can be free!

I don't believe werewolves are immortal, but do have a longer life expectancy than humans. They do heal faster and they are excellent hunters.

Wolves have an average lifespan of 7-10 years in the wild. Why would you assume that a werewolf would have a longer lifespan than a human who averages about 70? Is that just a feeling or based on something we might want to consider?

I'd Assume Werewolves would live slightly longer then a normal human.

Just because wolves only have a short live span doesn't mean the counter-part is the same.

Vampiric bats have short life spans, but Vampires live much longer then humans do... does this fact apply to both parties?

werewolves live as long as any human can, they heal quicker than humans, and around the full moon they cant help but change into their wolf form! and they live mainly in family groups(like wolf packs) but occasionaly there are some lone wolves who r kicked out of packs or perfer to be alone. some people do possess the spirit of a wolf and in time some of these people find themselves able to change!! but not always!! like for the full moon i camp out so as not to wake my family with my wolfish ways!! if u possess a wolf spirit try to stay away from humans during a full moon bc it enhances ur hunting nature and since humans are naturally weak we see them as prey!!

Not to get grumpy here. So Im going to just say this. If all Lycans, were-creaturs, Therians were anything like the one seen in the movies, the people running the city morges would quit due to being over worked.
Mass-murdering people that changed into wolves, tigers, bears, oh my..running around..no one would leave there houses..

Legends claim they are immortal cause they are hard to kill. Whether they exist is just up in the air. There is a deases were the term Lycan comes from. Many people have it and have tedency to have a stronge sense of an animal spirit with them... Hense why they don't truely transform but have a personality and instincts relating to mostly wolves, cats and more predator type animals.

I enjoy the myth behind them and even realities of it. It is an interesting topic to really discuss.

My curiousity lies with the questions of witchcraft. If people believe and or actually use "magic", for instance..those who practice witchcraft, Then how can it not be believed that through native american practices of magic, people are not capable of changing into turn-skin? Hence, man/wolf? I believe it is very much a possibility, considering there are numerous thing out there that are unexplainable..for instance the paranormal...

I think people have a huge misunderstanding of what a werewolf really is, and they base it off of what Hollywood has created in the movies.

Though I am highly fond of horror movies especially the werewolf movies...
My opinion...its not that of American werewolf in paris, or London, or Silver Bullet, or Ginger Snaps....nor some huge hairy ugly beast roaming around on a hunting spree of humans.... but more or less... the actual "spiritual" connections between human and animal, and what actually happens within the energry created between these souls, the illusions of magic, and what can possibly become a reality. And needless to say....these Hollywood werewolves obviously are not a reality....but spirits are, and so is possessions, as well as animal to human possession.

What do they do? I think they try to survive as does anything else. I cant tell you how long I think they live for, but I imagine as long as they aren't hunted or hit by a car, they could live for a long time.

Well my guess would be that they live a long time but are not immortal. For nothing lives forever. The body eventually gives out at some point. Were-creatures probably live a normal existence in their culture. I highly doubt it is anything close to how Hollywood portrays them. They are probably more like the humans, just trying to get by and survive.

I believe that Werewolves may live a little longer than normal people but not forever. Nothing is forever. I'm sure that they eat, sleep, play, work, pay bills, all of the stuff you have to do to get by in this world. They just do it with style!

Well...they don't live forever...they just age a lot more slowly. Eating and sleeping? Depends on their form. When they change they prolly sleep in the forests...but otherwise, more than likely in a normal bed like everyone else. Eating would have to be basically raw meat...but can be controlled without devouring humans...by having steaks and other animals.

I have to disagree with you Dark Winged Pegasus, maybe for you thats all that happens but others of us do more then eat sleep and play. We have to survive in the modern world.

I believe werewolves have normal lives like everyone, but the thirst is just as strong as a vampires thirst. So I can only imagine how hard it would be to keep it under control.

Okay, I believe that werewolves do not change physical forms. It's a hunger and way of feeling inside. It's like a spirit of a wolf exists inside.

wherewolfs pretty much eat sleep and hunt. but they have more temper issues then vampires and have a varasious appetite.

the various werebeasts of legend seem to have nominate human lifespans, but superhuman appetite.. (EG the snakemen of the philippines), whether that prolongs lifespan or not, i am in doubt..

I think they are immortal, meaning they live forever until someone puts that little silver bullet in them. I would say they exist. Probally eat, hunt, sleep, and survive.

i believe some folks have some "were"blood within them.I have heard it called "tainted" blood, if that person is also a vampire. I don't know of their lifespan, etc. i would assume the same as human, as they are part of that as well.

they are real. some humans embrace that. some do not. the human part is enhanced but the were part is superhuman. lifespans can be indefinate.

I think they'll live a little longer than the average human lifespan due to their innate ability to heal well but I don't think they are immortal. They'll age and eventually die of it but it will take longer than if they were not infected with lycanthropy. As for what they do during their lives, I'd say they would do their best to keep to themselves and not get to friendly with a normal human, lest someone find out about their "secret." They might band together occasionally with others of their kind into "packs" though, led by the strongest of them.

I would think that since they are part man part wolf that during the day they would try to live as normal a life as possible or as much as they wanted to. Nothing in legend speaks of them being immortal though

that is a tough one. I think they may live a longer than normal life because of there ability to heal faster from wounds that would be normally fatal to a human. I also think they live ordinary lives like humans do and come out to feed when they need to.

Werewolves are immortal, the only way they can die if they are killed with anything made of silver or have their heads cut off. They do eat but only live prey. But they can never sleep, the only time they do is when the human spirit has awaken for the day. While the wolf spirit only awakes in the night. Werewolves are the most successfull hunters of the night. And you can never control the beast within cause it cares nothing if the person is a friend or foe. It just kills for the blood, nothing more.

Not sure I would think they live for a while. I also say they hunt more then anything.

a werewolf is a being whose soul has been consumed by rage, they live for a period and it is actually hard too recognize them, just what I was taught.

i think it depends on the lycan throp on its existrance, the more powerful the longer the years. Fables don't really recall or tell but it seems to be about 150 years for the life span of werewolfs.

in the few cases of people who i have met and would classify a were animal all have said they arent immortal but have a longer life line then regular people.

I can't help but to laugh... First take the hollywood aspect out of it.

Heres a little reality check:

*A bullet.. (weather silver or not) would kill anyone or anything

*Chopping off heads..would kill anyone or anything.

* eating a ton of raw/rare meat could mean that someone is more cannibalistic than anything. Maybe even a personal preference.

I'll even go as far as to say driving a stake through the heart would kill anyone or anything.

There has been proof of human and demonic possession in humans. Who's to say the spirit of an animal (including a wolf) could not possess a human? Its not a totally impossible theory. Unbelieveable to some, yeah maybe, but shouldn't be totally x'd out.

Ok, so maybe a human does not particularly and physically transform into some large mutated ugly hairy wolf looking beast that roams the "full moon" nights treating itself to human feasts (like created in the movies)

There is a possibility that, through animal (ie.wolf) possession, like demonic possession (cases passed through the churches/vatican) a human can be taken over by the spirit of this animal, changed in certain visible ways, but more so mental ways.

Ponder the fact that, in times past, the Native American practices changed the human into a wolf. Which in turn, *spiritually*, the man became more of the wolf as the typical 4 legged creature, than some big ugly creature thing.


If I should get into the total werewolf subject here, no, they would NOT be immortal or superhuman. They would live only as long as the human counterpart. NO, they would not change only on the full moon. (as possession can happen at any time, regardless of the moon's status in the sky) And when not under the possession, or (the change..if u will) Im sure its as simple as they go about their everyday lives as their human counterpart would..family, job etc etc. Anything the typical person would do.

And, as far as telling if someone is a werewolf or not...pffft My boyfriend has a very nicely built body, and has some very good strength to him.... he eats raw meat right out the package (I have to fight him off the meat so I can cook it) He would eat tons of completely raw meat if I would let him...He would kill an animal and eat it right then and there (if I didn't fight with him about it) this does NOT mean he's a werewolf. It simply means he has some F**d up issues and quite the cannibal. It does not mean he changes into a big hairy ugly beast going around killing humans. (he'd kill humans just to kill anyways) OK, so my boyfriend isn't the best example to use here seeing as he's quite the twisted one, but the point is...it doesnt mean he's a werewolf (just because he has some seriously odd animalistic characteristics)

All in all, if vampires, being fabled creatures, can exist, then why can't a werewolf exist? There hasn't been completely "precise" proof about either one. Maybe thats the way it should be, some things exist that are very unexplainable.

Lycons aren't immortal but they do live longer lives then humans because the aging process has been slowed tremenously. Most lycons live civilized lives like the rest of us, but most also live to kill, eat, and sleep. But don't think I am insulting lycons because there are vampires who live to do the same thing.

I believe that lycans/werewolves feed and sleep just like all beings, and since they are pretty similar to humans....apart from the thirst for flesh....i think they will live around the same as an average human depending on the lifestyle they live....=)
