i have many things trying to learn more about the nature and origin of both lycan and vampires, some say that we are destined to be mortal enemies, others say we should in harmony, some even say that we are related. I sure all of you has at least heard of the movie Underworld:Evolution, where the theory is that there were two brothers, and that one became the first vampire and that one became the first lycan. i do not know if we are that close due to that we have so many differences, but i do beleive that we are related. i even once read that when a vampire dies it is re-incarnated as a lycan. What are your thoughts, facts opinions? exactly how close are we?
I myself don't know if Vampires and Lycans are relatied or not. I think its an interesting idea, but not everyone probally wants to think that two races so vastly diffrent, albeit they have a lot alike too, could be related.
very true, there are so many theories its hard to know what to beleive
I do not see why we would be mortal enemies... I mean why? There is no reason for it. Most of what I was taught as a child was that people like me.. for some reason my teachers tried hard to avoid the word vmapire as much as they could lol.... and those with srtong animal spirits ( I have never seen anyone actually turn into an animal so tend to make that point) are not so different and both are to be respected and valued for the things they offer. One set of gifts is not better than the other.. they are simply different. Hateing each other for what we are is like hateing someone simply because they have a certian color hair or are female.. for just somehting they are... and if you do that you could miss out on knowing a very wonderful person.
Of course, I myself prefer lycans, simply because of their wolven traits. But I'm not against the idea of the two being related.
i would like to believe that we are related... i think all the creatures of the night might be... coming from one root and just having a different evolution... i like this thread... i would like to see more opinions...
well there is a way we are all related.. we are all human... just of verying gifts and flavors.. so in that way we are all related.
it can be possible that we are closer to one another then we all think
those who are bore pure bloods into both lycan and vampire alike are bound to have some of the same traits as well as blood lines in us
but to those who were made into either vampire or lycan are not related to anything at all except for a small connection with their makers
I don't really see how we could be genetically related, but I suppose anything is possible.
I think it's fairly safe to say that first and formost we are all human. lol
Any additions that come along well, theories abound.
Generally films about such things are fiction.
when it comes to this question i think its a matter of what you believe in. im not sure i believe in vampires or lycans at all but i would like to hope they existed. and as far as them being enemies its all folklore and there is no evidence to support either fact. i would say im undecided on this question
i really dont know but a guess would be more leaning to maybe not....
i would like to belive in the folktales too, but i just can't wrap my brain around the idea. to, d&d for me.
I think the mortal enemy theory was started like most racism. One person from one color, religion, sexual orientation, does something that another person of a different color, religion, sexual orientation doesn't like. That person then believes that all people who believe like the one who angered or hurt him or her will act the same. Therefor he "dislikes" the whole group. Be it color, religion or anything like that. The Vampire/Lycan relation, in my opinion, most likely got started like that. One Lycan or Vampire did something that angered the other and so they decided that all of the others in that group were the same. Then they just began the hating and all. That's my look at it. Might be wrong, might be right, but in the end, it's what I believe.
well i am surprised to hear this .can they be related in fact ?
well there is kinda a good reason the mortal enemy thing started in the movies... think about it if your talking the movie versions of wereanimals and vampires.. what else could really fight the other with any kind of chance of survival without needing the holy power of a cross or etc.
a holy war between vampyr and lycan, no just in the movies, a brothern of the night yes, to say that both were created in the same blood line heh maybe, but no fact to back this. Things are yet to be discovered. but a good puzzle to ponder.
Sounds like an interesting fantasy and makes for good entertainment, but considering that if one goes far enough back in evolution, everything is linked, I don't see where the point of this is.
It's a little far fetched to believe that these two concepts are part of the same recent genetic legacy, since neither share the same attributes of any kind.
Perhaps one of the reasons that people continue to espouse some kind of mythical 'war', or acrimonious relationship, is the very fact that they are so different and not related.
It also seems to me that vampires take much pride in mastering their internal 'beast', whereas the were-creature revels in allowing the animalistic side to dominate.
I dont think being enemy is about the race, it is more about the person deciding to be enemy or friend, even brother can be more then just a blood related thing, some see themselves as brother even tho they are not blood related, plus I do beleve we are all blood related, so in a sens we are all brothers and sisters
I am in an agreeance with a few people in this thread. I believe that the idea started as a form of racism or discrimination just as JustinDupree pointed out. But I also feel that we are all humans and that the traits are additions to that, not in fact our ethnicity or background, as a few others mentioned...
Wouldn't this almost be like saying wolves and bats are related?? Ok, bad joke, sorry.
No, I don't think it's possible that vampires and Lycans are even remotely related, they are just two different species, plain and simple.
And I have never heard of a vampire being reincarnated as a Lycan when they die. That would be a first for me.
it'd be interesting for a vampire to turn into a lycan when they die because in reality, vampires are dead humans. so why go through the painful process of dying twice, or even a third time? sounds redundant to me.
I'm sure there are creatures who want vamps and lycans to be together in harmony. the truth is, we never can be. I'm not even sure why we are enemies with the lycans. hmmmm...*googles*
I think fact is being mixed with fiction again.
All other ' types ' are born human.
TheAlmighty13 if the point of many lives is to experience and gain knowledge then all 'types' have the opportunity to learn in the same way.
if you look at the historical sources then you see that vampires and lycans arent related..
vampires have been known in the dacian (the ancients of the romanians) and slavic cultures whereas lycans are originated in the celtic cultures and only there...
vampires are known all over the world.. southern america, africa, asia and eastern europe.. but were never part of the west european culture.
the first contact with western europe as made by the romans.. (sorry i forgot the year) ovid was banned to constanza (place in romania) and wrote about a pinceps striges (princeps = prince) who had died and came back to live as a vampire....that is the first western european source of a vampire
other then that.. its uknown to me that there are any historical sources of llycans apart of western europe and the celtic culture.. in case anyone knows about them... pls msg me on my account
in reality they are 2 totally different creatures but do have some simular guidlines except that vampires are immortal and can't die
I feel that the limits of this discussion have been reached.
