I had never heard of a half vampire untill earlier today while reading the forum posts could somone please explain .

well I have a friend whos part vamp part lycan but I get the feeling this is not what you are wondering am i right skittles??by the way GOT JUICE??

Half vamp is usually someone who claims to be a Dhampir. Half human, half vampire. No one who claims half vamp is half lycan as well, this would be a contradiction. Either you are one or the other.

Unfortunatly, the halfs are movie collective only. Too much underword watchers. As for the Dhampir, these would be constructively used as slayers by certain religions.

I have never heard of a Dhampir either . I live in a very sheltered little town in down east maine . We don't have alot of research material here for that stuff

For the most part these half-vamps, lycans etc are the domain of hollywood and rpg'rs.

However if there is a genetic explination for "real" vampires then it makes sense that there could be half-vamps just like there are mixed races and so on.

So how is one a half vampire?

I have on ly ever heard of this in fiction books,so I'm not to sure but I suppose their must be. =)

There are several books where somebody claims to be a half-vampire. I am technically not a half-vampire, but I still call myself one. Just for a little excitement in life. All my friends know and understand that I am one. A good series to read, where the main character is a half vampire, is the Darren Shan Series. It's a bit corny, but still very interesting.

I think that the only requirement to be a “half vamp” would be the desire. All you have to do is call yourself a “half vamp” instead of a “pureblood” or whatever. You could say that you are a pureblood vampire squared. This would mean that you are twice as powerful as a “pureblood”. It seems to me that there is a lot of role-playing and discussions about role-playing that take place in this forum.

A half vampire sounds intriguing, though I am of the all or nothing persuasion myself. If they want blood/energy, they are a vampire. If they don't then they aren't.

I always thought of vampirisam as a genetic disease . The attacked the blood cells making them unstable . Thus the need for fresh blood . So it would stand to reason , at least to me , that it would be impossible to be a half vampire . You can't have half a desease .

depending on the legand half vamps may or may not be as powerful or in some legand there arnt half blood and true blood just vamps

i know of one person who claims to be Dhampir, he claims that Dhampir is like a vampire only they don't have to feed as much or as often. some people just like the terms and decide to use them to descibe what they believe it is.

wait wouldn't blade technically be half vampire. Since he was born as his mom was turning and he is a daywalker. that would be the half human part in him.

i really do not know so i am curious too

Read about Dhampirs in my Encyclopedia of Vampires, but you score with the Wiki link, Soulshroude. The folks over at Vampire Children should read it, too.

I have heard of half vamps in the movies. Though to be technical a longitudinal cut along the midline would leave you with two half vamps *grin*

Here I go again trying to explain what I am.Now Before Hollyweird came up with such thing's,
I was born 1/2 vamp 1/2 human I am 48 years old,and I do not believe my Grams would lie to me or my parents would lie.We are not slayers despite what Hollyweird says.I get tired of people saying we do not exist.I do not lie I SUCK at it.like someone said,there are many mixed races,why is it so hard to believe in my kind?I would really like an answer to this.Thank you and sorry for getting a bit upset.You are intitled to you'r opinion,but try to keep an open mind.

It is possable, but not vary likely. you see there is two ways. One-Your mother was bit while you were still in her womb.

Two- You were bit but you never took in your fathers/mothers (Sires) blood.

dhampirs exist only in movies, as far as i can tell, no actual mythology/real world recording of them can be proven.


the bitten mother while you were in utero is from the blade trilogy. or from vampire hunter d.

there are many theroies of what a half vamp is, i say its all BS
