as the above stated what is a fairy god mother is it something like a witch who grants you wishs or some devin power out to help? what are your thoughts views, maybe even legands you have heard.
I always thought a fairy godmother went bipity bopity boo and gave you glass slippers and such. I don't really think they are real, unless you believe the queen of faeries is one.
Now i know this in my heart is not true, a comic book fairy tale, a angel who looks after you maybe but no fairly odd parents sorry
i always thought it is a fictional character from fairy tale books. Not really a witch because i think witches and fairies are different. It gives you what you need but not really gives you what you wish.
hmm a fairy godmother is very book related.. not a real person.. Wish they were (no pun intended).
I had those once, huh maybe I still do, *looks around for friend* no seriously I can believe most tales and lore and superstition, but this one i have to turn my back on.
I think like the boogy man tale, that the fairy godmother is something that some one(parents) would use to show their child that they have high wishes, example.. my mom would say, after I requested something.."Maybe the fairy god mother will find it in her heart to bring you one."
A Fairy Godmother in my eyes is one who can granted you a wish
Besides everything she gives with a wave of her wand disappears at a set time. So at least she is not out there spoiling kids like Santa.
do not bring up that lore know dabbler (santa)
No a godmother who gave wishes to those being good or things they asked for wish i had one of these.
Seems like the Fairy god mother appeared only when the person was about to cast away hope. I think the Grimm Brothers Version of the Fairy could have been much better.
I did not find the Fairy god mother in the Grimms Fairy Tale Cinderella..
I think it would be someone to watch over you. Not to grant you wishes, but to decide what is good for you and what you might need.

LOL Well I feel it is someone whom watches over you and also gives you your wishes.. ya know help you when you need help etc.. I feel anyone can have a person they consider a FairyGodMother, I do consider my step mom as a FairyGodMother she is always there like my dad when I need help ....
Yes they are from books etc. yet, I feel we all have one in real life just gotta stop and realize whom it is. :)
Just my 2 cents on the subject LOL :)
Give me three wishes and you can be anything you like..But what to wish for?
Actual fairy godmothers are rare in fairy tales, but became familiar figures because of the popularity of the literary fairy tales of Madame d'Aulnoy and other précieuses, and Charles Perrault. Many other supernatural patrons feature in fairy tales; these include various kinds of animals and the spirit of a dead mother.[1] The fairy godmother has her roots in the figures of the Fates; this is especially clear in Sleeping Beauty, where they decree her fate, and are associated with spinning.[2]
In the tales of précieuses and later successors, the fairy godmother acts in a manner atypical of fairies in actual folklore belief; they are preoccupied with the character and fortunes of their human protegees, whereas fairies in folklore had their own interests.[3]

Typically, the fairy godmother's protégé is a prince or princess and the hero of the story, and the godparent uses her magic to help or otherwise support them. The most well-known example is probably the fairy godmother in Charles Perrault's Cinderella. Multiple fairy godmothers appear in Sleeping Beauty, in both Charles Perrault's and the Grimm Brothers's variants, including one evil, offended one. The popularity of these versions of these tales led to this being widely regarded as a common fairy-tale motif, although they are less common in other tales.
Indeed, the fairy godmothers were added to Sleeping Beauty by Perrault; no such figures appeared in his source, "Sole, Luna, e Talia" by Giambattista Basile.[4] In the Grimm Brothers' variant of Cinderella, Aschenputtel is aided not by her fairy godmother but by her dead mother.[5] A great variety of other figures may also take this place.
I believe that there are no fairy godmothers as the books claim...of course they are wonderful books which will enhance a child's imagination.
However, I do believe there are certain people in our lives who touch them in such a way that we may refer to them as fairy godmother's. Not because they can grant us wishes but because they are there when we need them.
oh forgot to put i took the info from this site
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_godmother
It realy was a witch but witches are" evil"so a fairy came into play. haha ever saw those little wands know they couldn't make all that magic.
fairy god mothers have always been in my fairy tail books when I was a kid
I take a fairy godmother to be something akin to a guardian angel. Something of pure fantasy. A being who's name is changed from imaginary friend to godmother when you get too old for the former.
Is something we all wish we had. A could use a few wishes right now.
i think its more of a guardian angel guidance type of figure, not a geenie
fairy godmothers to me is a way that children can relate to miracles that happen and wishes that are fullfill.
it is a story told to children so that even when bad things happen they have hope. People need hope to go on in life to strive for things and to grow up with a happier out look on the world.
Someone to put their hopes and dreams in when things go bad in an attempt to make themselves feel better. I dont believe in fairy godmothers in the Disney or book sense at all.
If such thing were too exsit, I would think it would be like an old lady fairy who wants to help out, like a grandma with powers.
In the dictionary sense:
For the most part, the Fairy Godmother is a kind fairy in the form of a woman who gives vital help to somebody, especially to the hero or heroine.
But a Fairy Godmother is also a term meaning a generous benefactor--somebody, especially a woman, who gives generous help, often anonymously.
i beleive it is a guardian angel looking down
guiding us....
might be wrong....
A Character from children's nursery rhymes...and fairy tales.
The fairt godmother is a childrens fairy tale. I dont believe there is any being that will grant your wishes
oh, and if you decide to post about the tooth fairy, santa clause, easter bunny or a smart blonde, i will give you the same answer
Hey hey be nice.. Everyone has the right to ask the forum anything they wish within means. It is called a free country and freedom of speech.. if you do not like what the forum question is then do not post.
urhomicidalwish said something very exciting. She said a fairy godmother gives you what you need, not necessarily what you wish for.
This implies a higher psyche - someone who knows your inner self.
She/he is very kind and wise, with humility and a sense of humor.
It's like your higher, inner self being nice . . . to yourself.
Doesn't have to be a real fairy godmother. You can start out on a quest, but end up in a different place with what you need, but maybe not want you were looking for. That's the fairy godmother at work.
*holds up two fingers* Peace Man! *ahem* Women...
back to topic -- a fairy godmother is a relative you never knew you had who turns out to be fantastically wealthy and originally known as your godfather. I think I nailed it with that one, no?
Seriously, this all stems from fairy tales -- The Brothers Grimm have quite a few.
The Wizard of Oz has the most famous fairy godmother. She from out West. What's her name?
Wicked witch of the west.......the good witch was Glenda of the North
And for my answer - I am a godmother (just not a fairy with wings). I am a buffer to listen at times, grant some extra monetary blessings, run a few errands, do a bit of caretaking and generally some guidance at times.
And I think the idea of that came from the stories of the fairy godmothers.:)
i don't really think about fairy godmothers. to be honest, it's not something i ever really had a strong belief in so it hasn't really played a big part in my thought process.
I have a fairy godmother of sorts.... one of my mum's oldest guy friends is gay, they have been friends since before I was born so he calls himself my fairy godmother lol. He keeps in touch with me and is there without judging me if I ever need to talk or vent for any reason. I love him to bits.
its true they do grant wishes to those who really need it, or are truly miserable but also they offer guidance and tell you what is forbidden
A character created by Walt Disney's staff for the timeless movie: Cinderella.
If the individual believes this character to be a manifestation of something that may have existed long ago...IE Santa Clause aka Chris Krinkle/St. Nicklaus, then they must have plenty of time on their hands to be thinking of things just to preoccupy their boredom.
Thank You SoulShroude for enhancing what I said. One more thing we agree on.
Undervampsgaze - My opinion was stated. Does the avatar (no matter what I choose) to the left bring bad vibes to people, like I am always speaking in anger or rudeness?
I think that every fairy tale has a psychological meaning and can be seen as life's metaphors...am I serious?
yes I am.
To me the fairy good mother is a representation of a guardian, not really necessary a spirit one, even a person for that matter.
Anyway seeing the lack of seriousness by many, in this Forum, I am going to close it.
