Images are often used here from a public domain. I myself have many pictures in my profile that were simply copy/pasted from the web. No user owns that picture and therefor has no right to complain about another user using that same picture on their profile.
Many people here have complained and voiced very harsh opinions about someone using the same icon as an older user. Why? Does this user own that picture. NO!
I completely understand if the picture was of the user and someone stole it. Clearly this was not the case.
Yes this could lead to confusion, but you chose to use a picture that was public domain. Take a look at the "elders" (ie. Cancer, ElderDan, and Scarlett) who have chosen to use photographic representations in order to minimize confusion.
I used the term 'elders', but I was being dramatic. At the end of the day, I agree, who cares, and anyone can use any image they chose. I didn't know it would cause such a huff. I was being a smarty pants..... OMG.... let's smile and lighten up.
ok harsh people!
I was just surprised!
oh well, yeah..you can find that pic in google or anywhere on the web..
you callin me old?? Elder dan and Cancer... but... me????
Yea once your over 30 Scarlett, ya get branded as being *old* But I know you can't even be lurking around the 30 something stimga yet ;)
Great. I'm Old. Pfffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Who made up the silly rule about being over 30 is "old." I'm hearing this a lot lately. LOL
To this I just want to say "I'll show you old!"
Well, I didn't miss the politics of this one, Morey. I have a feeling this was more than likely directed at myself. I'll fess up, no biggie. I got huffy with someone about using a particular photograph for their avatar. And you're right, darling. It is public domain and at the end of the day, thats what you get. However, I believe the conversation started on principle. Using someones photograph when it is not your own is a whole different ballgame here. But the inital huff yesterday was between Dayryn and DWolfs avatars. They are/were the same. Use what you want, people. Common courtesy should prevail. If i came on and used an avatar (like i know how to do it in the first bloody place..) and later saw that it was on an older account than mine, I would change it. I wouldnt want the same one as someone else, nor would i wanna piss that person off by making them feel like I've snagged their stuff. No harm intended, just trying to jog the memory of common courtesy. BTW, I also noted that he may not have seen the avatar when his was put on. I did not state that it was deliberatly done.
S'all good tho.... s'aaaaaalllll right......

THAT BEING SAID... anyone else feel like a fried egg?

My goodness. Leave for an afternoon and look what happens.
My comment was not intended to cause such a stir.
I wasn't mad, Hell I even said welcome off the bat. I didn't think I was attacking.
You are correct Star, no one holds any claim, I just figured out of courtesy one would find their own identity. That's all that was meant. No harm no foul.
OK... that meing said, I have nothing else to say. He's moving on... Ive been called off.... Ima go back to my coffee now...
Hugs and sloppy kisses!!

Dayryn what sparked me to comment was you going out of your way when leaving the conservatory yesterday (Monday) to make sure everyone there knew that this relatively new person had the same picture as you and to let them know this was not looked well upon. I apollogize for not quoting you here but I am at school without my logs. If you like when i get home i can quote it for you.
Khayman and Melody, I was not directing this directly at you but merely saying perhaps chastising a person when they first log on isnt the way to maintain users. I know it sounds ridiculous, but assuming the best from people is often the correct path to choose. I will assume that Dwolf, a mere Whelp, did not take the time to peruse all 296 profiles to see what everyone else had for pictures. More than likely he simply found a picture he thought to be interesting and posted that as his main picture.
Whether you want it or not, here is my piece of advice. Remember putting your profile on here for the first time. Would you have been discouraged to participate if all you had were comments attacking the little effort that you applied originally. I know in the past when I have entered environments that I was not comfortable in all I could conjure up the courage to do was stick my toe in the water to test the temperature. If it was cold, I quickly ran away not wanting to shock my system.
I urge you all to remember your own cautious beginnings when you comment. Ya know ... what your mom always told you; "Do unto others as you would have done unto you!"
I understand that now. But I was asked to comment on it. Unfortunatly one of my virtues is NOT forsight. The appropriate appologies have been made.
NUFF SAID, MOM.
I wasnt attempting to be a mom, sorry if I came off that way. Nor was I attempting to chastise you Khayman. I commend you for your apollogy, that is the sign of a couragious Human being.
This is one of those days where I sit back and read what Ive done with my time. And apparently what Ive done is act like a 10 year old child. JACKASS. Ok..... MOVING ON....
