Wow, I am shocked that no one has started a thread discussing the new Blade movie which opened yesterday. I will be writing a review ASAP, one that may grace the pages of Acrimony perhaps.
Has anyone else seen Blade Trinity yet? I don't want to give spoilers, but I would have to say I enjoyed this one even more than the second. Why?
First, it was just plain hilarious. I love any action movie that can sling jokes, too. Ryan Reynolds' one liners were great. He had a couple duds, but had the smart-ass comebacks for them, too. If I had any problem it was with his dependence on using "fuck", but after a while, I came to expect and enjoy it.
Second, it proved that Anyone can jump into an action movie and get a kick-ass makeover. We have Jessica Biel (from 7th Heaven) all grown up and ass-kicking delicious. Ryan Reynolds, as mentioned above notably from comedies like Van Wilder, doing some sweet action moves of his own (he's NOT the silly side-kick). Parker Posey was great as the villianess of the movie, a great turn for her all vamped out, but still awkwardly funny as usual. Dominic Purcell, who plays Drake in this movie has certainly come a long way since FOX's thriller show "John Doe".
What do you all think?
D
I am salivating to see the movie..... Your words are more encouraging!!
It will be out here soon too! Can't get to the door of the cinema quick enough!
I think you SUCK!
you didnt even invite me
*scarlett cries*
lol i seen it and it was exelent and very funny too and jessica biel is a great actress i just plain loved the movie
Well, it did open Wednesday, but I think most people wait until the weekend to go to the movies... I'm going Saturday to see it.
well i work at the movie theaters and so i got in 4 free muwhahahaha right on the day it came out also it seem pretty busy even 4 a weekday so i can imagine its goin to be hell on the weekend omg and i am working on those days...great ::sighs::
Well, as the weekend is my time with the kids, any opportunity to see a movie during the week is my treat. It was busy opening night but not the usual lines. So yes, it seems most wait til the weekend.
Sorry Scarlett. :((
D
As much as I anticipate seeing the film I shall linger a while as I am one who likes to adjourn in seeing films as I have an aversion to overly crowded theaters. I appreciate mostly midnight showings or matinees and going alone. I shall take into account your word on it being a good film Sir Daniel, however as for the humor I pray it’s minimal or it will have myself recall the ever so popular teen-slasher films that I rather place in the past.
...i'm headed to see it tomorrow! woowoo! i have so been l>oO
i plan on taking my son to see it sat. the previews look as if it will be the coolest one yet.
Saw it. It was so much better than the second. Although Parker Posey is more annoying in this one than in Josie and the Pussycats
That's becasue being in Australia... we won't know about it for at least another 6 months, unless we get a pirated version from our american friends first >:)
But thanks for the heads up!
I can't wait to see it and am really curious to see how they can beat the reaper story in B2 so am very excited am just suprised it didn't get a weekend release like Spiderman 2 and x-men 2 but who cares anyway blade rocks
(side note here for film buff's after the tragedy of Batman and Robin with Mr freeze comic book films died as you may have noticed because ti was such a failure but when blade 1 was released and was very successful it restored producers faith in comic book film adaptations thus paving the way 4 X-men and spiderman the rest is history :-)
Couldn't agree more. Blade paved the way, X-man blew it wide open, then spiderman cemented it. Can't wait to see Blade trinity. If this is wesley snipes' last Blade, then lets hope it's a monster of a film.
yep what tenchi sed but if it is wesley's last blade outing I hope it goes off with a bang
Maharja,
The comedy is there to keep the pace going. This is not the unintentional humor of teenage-killing-spree movies. It's dark humor and sarcasm, my favorite.
As for Parker Posey, LOL, that's her style -- spoiled brat -- which was definitely in full-tilt in Josie and the Pussycats. The vamp look wore well on her though in this movie, and gave her a "I'm the frickin vampire b-hotch around here" look. I hope she had fun with the role.
D
cant wait to see it...but i have to wait for at least a few months till its running in theater in switzerland....
...ok, youse guyz! i went to see the movie. and i just have to say...
IT FReEKiN' ROCKED!!!!!
...i just loved this movie and i think i'll go and see it again! it has absolutely everything anyone could want (well...our kind of "anyone" that is! muhahaha!) i guarantee, if you go to see it, you will LoVe iT! 8)
teh i saw it twice already and guess wat i work there so basically get i 4 free...but unforturnitly it hasnt been gettingbusy only a 1 rush and that was it but i dont understand i thought ppl would be crowding our halls 4 this movie i mean we had it in 2 major auditoriums....ur right tengi it did pave the way 4 comic book movies ~its the spark that set it off!
I loved it.....
Snipes was fantastic as usual....and Biel kicked major ass (not bad for a former preacher's daughter). Even Ryan Renolds, who I thought was a strange choice, kicked butt and made me laugh with his awesome one-liners. Even the supporting cast, created an amazing story line. I might go see it again if my girlfriend doesn't see it this weekend, but I'm definately goning to buy it when it comes out on DVD.
Nice work, Wesley!
THis was a great movie Blade has hit paydirt three times in a roll.
I'd love to see it when it comes out.
all i can say about Triple H is, Gee Can people Extend His Ego Amy Further?
Ya know, CrowleyRose, I've wondered the same thing. I have often thought that if that man were in an unfortunate accident they'd need one ambulance for him and one for his ego.
I wonder if he has people to inflate his consequence with a hand pump every morning. :)
well i went and saw it last night it kicked ass bigger than any that i could think of the movie rocked
I'm a little surprised at the responses here. I saw it a week ago and was quite disappointed. I think it was the weakest of the three movies.
Blade is very one-dimensional in this film.
I felt a lot was copied from the matrix. Blood bank warehouses (human battery fields), Blade never takes off his sunglasses (except when he is captured, and then they're probably removed from him). Jessica Biel's Morpheus-like fighting style.
The fight sequences were poor. I hate it when film makers speed up martial arts scenes.
The 'bad' vampires were almost straight out of 'From Dusk til Dawn'. Campy and silly. Drake is okay, but could've been better (Frost and Nomak were each much better).
Abigail Whistler and Hannibal King were each good, and as a result, I think they out-shone Blade.
What to you mean it ripped off Matrix
Blade never takes his shades off....remember the first two movies....
And the blood farms were an idea from the first movie...remember the warehouse nightclub scene....people in bags were being rolled by.
And all of the movies today mirror the Matrix style of fighting, The Blade Trilogy has been doing that since the beginning...Blade vs. Frost, Blade vs Nomak...Hell, even Blade vs. Drake.....Why should Blade be the only one having fun.
I will admit the vampires in the movie were campy....but they were the foil to Hannibal King.....they were setting up his awesome one-liners.
roflmao
I just went to see it this weekend and was quite happy with the humor aspect. "Cock-juggling thunder-cunt." Im still laughing at that. But yes.... other than that... I agree with Cancer. Could have been much better.
i'll have to agree with cancer with the sunglasses...... keep this in mind cancer, wesly(excuse my spellining) is a 10x black belt but nvm that....i loved ray's humorous oneliners now thats what really made the movie shine
On the sunglasses....in the first two movies when there was a scene dramatically depicting Blade putting on the sunglasses, you knew someone was about to get thier ass handed to them. This movie didn't have that.
Drake just didn't give me the heebie jeebies like Frost and Nomek did. I mean...this guy is supposed to be the progenitor of homo-nocturnus, and he sort of turns out to be a pussy. They should have left him as an ancient vampire creature (the first scene) and not even mentioned him as Dracula. (shudder)
Did anyone but me notice that Snipes seemed kind of stiff in the fight scenes. Also, he had that damn red body-shirt thing on most of the time. That was WAY not Blade. Nor was the red liner in his coat.
It was an ok flick. I agree that the supporting cast pretty much left Snipes in the dirt. It's almost as if that was the intent. I didn't get the "Blade IS a badass," impression at all.
I didn't like the way they offed Whistler.
HHH as a vampire? Um....still not to sure aobut that one.
Faruza Balk (???) would have been better than Parker Posey in that role. (Thanks Khayman!)
All in all, i guess it was worth my 8 bucks. I love the franchise, and the movie certainly didn't suck.
I give it 3 pints of blood out of 5.
I have to agree with the prince here.I was expceting alot more out of it,i mean Blade didn't do nearly as much as he's done,i mean start off kicking ass like he's been doing.Although i must say the profanity and humor had me alomost choking with laughter.I'll buy it becuase it is part of a trilogy but it won't be the one i watch the most.
Well one of the guys at Amen Ra *sp* films hinted this was going to be the set up for the Nightstalkers movie that will more or less keep blade on as a supporting roll so I can see where the movie directors were working towards a tone down of blade to a more full group kinda reaction. May I also point out that the comic book Nightstalkers was awesome and Hannibal King lived up to the comic book very well can't wait to see Nightstalkers they kinda cross from the all vampire slaying to the Supernatural destruction team very well set up for that with Trinity I think.
forgot to mention this but Abigail is a fill in for the all vampire member of the nightstalkers for all you actual readers needed to point that out because she wasn't in the original comic book.
just read what yopu all have to say on the new blade movie was gona go and see it yesterday but got tied up :-) lol. but i will definetly go and see it very soon maybe after xmas as that is when people are to tired to do anything and most placers will be empty will take a load of mates with me and have a great night out
*Blade* I and II were better written I think. Nomak was a better villian vampyre and I love how he turned on his own family, family and friends will F*** you faster than anyone and as the addage goes, Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
I am waiting to get paid before I get to see this movie. I did not like Blade II as much as I, but hopefully this will restore a little confidence in good movies. (BTW, why is this all of a sudden taken over by Marvel?? or were the others also and I just didn't notice?)
i seen and loved it.. and basicly saw it for free seeing as im the movie critic for my school paper and i gave it 5 outta 5 spikes..lol awesome movie highly recomend it
just got home from seeing this w/ my son it was very good. i highly recommend it .
Im supprised you all liked it, i didnt.
Where was the blood and the f word went way over the top.
I dont think Dominic Purcell played drake well and the fight between him and blade didnt compare to the one with nomak.
Nothing can compare to the original.
You guys should check the comic books as well.
loved the comics loved the first movie second one was disappointing in my opinion but mug that i am i have to see the new film!!! Check out vampire hunter d that's what blade was loosely based on it's classic anime!!
Well I am stuck in germany, i prolly wontsee it till next month......blah.
... well I am glad soemone started the thread;-)
I went to see it a couple of days ago. I really liked it actually, but it wasnt the first one. That was the best one by far. I did find it funny that Drake was found in Iraq though, that was a bit un PC.
TONY BLAIR...-" We believe, beyond no reasonable doubt, that there are vampires of mass destruction in Iraq."
