good post. I have been reading for some time now and have been collecting books for the past 5 years (1st ed's). and have managed to find some amazing quite valuable books, thanks to my local charity shops... I can recomend Bram Stokers Dracula enough, out of all teh vampire ones i have read.. This is one that eludes me... when i find this i'll be breaking open the monet... Matheson, Richard - I AM LEGEND - Fawcett - 1954 re: 10/97
Lovely, first editions.
Unfortunatly, there is by far more dust in my pockets than green so I satiate my taste for reading through paperbacks and the occasional hardcover.
I adore books :)
aH, Same here.. thats another bonus of charity shops.. * give to charity *find old books (deleted) *get them cheap *build a large cheap collection....
mmhmm... i have over 100+ (1st's) and ebay is always good....
and if you have never heard of James Herbert.... he's an amazing writer! highly recomend his works
I have found some good books at used clothing places.. they have not been about vamps but still horror books.. I have found some HP Lovecraft, Clive Barker, and Stephen King my all time favorite.
I have a voracious appetite for reading. I get most of my books on sale, or at used bookstores.
Some of my favorite authors would be Anais Nin, Poppy Z Brite, Frank Herbert, and Sherman Alexie (a beloved writer of mine who relates wonderfully life on reservations)
Of course, I'm just tapping it because truly, I have many favorites. :)
Thanks for the site... I will really have to check that out :)

Very good site.
cool site... i didnt see the one collection i really like though... Amelia At-water Rhodes. a teen author who wrote the series in the Forests of the Night. Also featuring Demon in My View, Midnight Predator, Shattered Mirror, Hawksong, and Snake Charm... Easy but impressive reads.
I'm pleased to see so many bookstore whores here. :)
Makes me smile.
lol I forgot about this one.. Thanks for bumping it.. got some cool books it sounds like on that list..
Thanks for the information. I'll have to check that website out.
Website is awesome. Thanks for the site address. I have read some of the books and others sound interesting. I will have to check out some of them.
Again Thanks.
i do my shopping in charity shops for books.. so that would make me a charity shop? if you can think of a word to rhyme with that, excellent work! I would stress anyone to read Bram Stokers Dracula 1st.. then you will have better judgement of a Vampire myth.. There are so many good authors out there.. James Herbert deserves a mention along with Michael connelly (non vamp)
John Connolly (non-vamp) is good also. and spirtiual books that may get you to think is Sylvia Browne(non-vamp)
Thanks for the site! I now have something to do in study hall at school...
First Editions... I can't wait to build my own library up! I'm such a nerd! 8-)
I entered the shop, took the book and the man who works there wanted me to give him the money, I entered few more shops and the same happened.. so I gave up entering shops....

Thanks for the site. I have been reading books for sometime now. I got interested in vampires when this woman introduced me to Anne Rice and The Vampire Chronicles. I recommend these books to anyone who loves vampires !!
It is easy to get hold of Vampire fiction ie. A Rice, but has anyone read any non-fiction books as such on Vampires? I have searched ebay till i'm blue in the face with very little results. I would love to learn more about the oragins, reports and such...
Dhampir, if you have not discovered the following, then I hope you can grab copies, and I hope they might be close to what you are looking for. :)
Link for a book with nifty added "See also" titles at Amazon.com.
"Vampires and Vampirism : Legends from Around the World (Classics of Preternatural History)" by Dudley Wright looks interesting on the see also list.

I just saw the title of this thread and it reminded me to email a friend in Texas.
I used to room with she and her husband here in Virginia and when they moved theire 14 year old son inadvertantly packed up my Anne Rice collection.
I have all of her books in hardback (strong boy).
Thats well over $500... sitting in Texas.
Thanks for the reminder.
