I have a room that is clean and dark from sunlight, it has magical sigils and a resting place. I have speaker placed in the room but not the main system.
This is where I practice meditation, astral work and spiritual searching.

Do you or anyone you know have something like this?
If so what have you done to decor it and what music or sounds do you use?
What do you use it for?

i do ....i call it my batcave. it is a detached building that no windows and is entered by a secret door (in a bookcase). it took me most of a year to build it.
it painted black, with dark grey carpet and red trim (the ceiling is also black...with red trim, and the ceiling fan is black with red blades).
i have a futon here (black with a red mattress) and i keep my coffin here. (i always wanted a coffin table! lol).
its not complete yet, but its the closest thing to a sanctum sanctorum that ive had.

why dont you try a true sensory deprivation chamber...you can then hallucinate in style! :P

j/k of course. I like the Rothko Chapel for meditation. It is extremely dark...
the walls/floor/ceiling...black...Benches and pillows on the floor, black. People are urged not to talk inside...you can sit in there on a pillow and its just silent and cold as you get lost in the subtle black shaded abstract paintings that hang on the walls.

I had one but lost it once I moved :( It was a 5x8 room I used for meditation and writing. I had set up a small writing table with some small pedestals which had candles and incense on them. There was also a radio and small coloured light fixtures, for mood. I had a few books in there but little else. The walls and floor I covered with very special hand made rugs and tapestries.

Some of my personal greatest ideas came from time spent in that room.

I have a room that is completly sound proof, and light proof. it is accesible only from a thumbprint scanner and the entrance is hidden behind a freezer. it has black walls, black ceiling, black carpet, no light, and only one black pillow on the floor, and it is set up so that I can meditate, think, and just relax without being disturbed.

Ok so the title had me curious. I've always had a terrifying curiosity when it comes to those things. On one hand I want to try one out, on the other I'd probably freak out.

However, what you're talking about sounds like a great idea. I have a big closet currently used for junk that I should do that with.

There is a lot more involved then just water. Yet a knock off experience can be had in a number of places. I am looking for more info on the concept, and what it was introduced as, but knowing the history of the guy that invented it gives me a good idea as to why.

I have a room like this in a family members home I frequent when I need to meditate. It is underneath the main floor, and has no natural light in it for there are no windows.

Their are tons of mirrors, and colorful lights that surround things of meaningful things for me, and my Cousin Patty has brought in some wonderful things to play with like a Casket to rest in.

We have our own Drumming Circles, and play into the night..

But I go to the room for my own purposes. To cleanse myself of the world, and the people I tend to dabble with. It's been awhile, but the room does play off like a Deprivation Chamber. Cutting me off from most of my senses..

While these are all great rooms for solace, you are not truly depriving yourself of all senses (by definition of a deprivation chamber). Within a deprivation chamber, you are suspended in a salt water solution to keep the body afloat (sense of weightlessness), obviously the chamber is sound-proof and dark (there are, of course, variations) however, the main objective is to go a step further beyond standardizied "quiet rooms".

Within these deprivation chambers, governments used to run experiments (ahhh, surprise, surprise) and implement hypnotic suggestions to the host. Often, people who have actually used one will tell you that they either saw or experienced something that felt thoroughly real.

trippy, man, trippy!

I have a special place that I go. It is an old nazi bunker and it is dark from sunlight. It has blood stains on the wall and a old metal black bed skeleton. The walls are gray. I have candles placed in the room + all the skull remains I could find in the bunker. This is where I practice bloody sacrifice to the altar of neo-paganism. I always go there when I need to relax and charge my batteries.

Sorry, it is illegal to make money with such places, they are a legacy of evil in peoples minds(not to mention how the time of nazi documentaries is long time over), after all I said nazi bunker, not a soviet bunker which would be a totally different thing, but I understand your misunderstanding which is based on partial understanding of these historical subjects. No matter its negative historical value this old bunker is perfectly suited for me and my fellow cultist, with all the decoration we could muster, where we further deprive our self from grace, worshiping dead goats.

Be carful in those bunkers, I used to get in a old fort in England with passageways that went all the way under the city to the moors, used in the war for moving artillery n planes. I have a nice spike mark in my leg when I ran from a load of rats .. that were running from something… never found out what .. but was impaled on a spike for a while.. ah good old days … how we laughed

Anti deprivation is another way to push things in searching..
Sometimes hiding away is to easy but going to a place of chaos and noise can be profound.Ever try sitting near a construction site and thinking about things and meditating? Good stuff if you can take it..

I like quiet remote places and being alone alot. It isn't quiet where I am. I know some buy the coffins for sensory deprivation. This has been stated by Don Henrie.

I personally do not need quiet for meditation. One of the biggest factors with magick and other uses of meditation/visualization is the ability to lock out the outside without having to be in a quiet place. Sounds should be buffered by the mind and for some this takes years to accomplish. One must be able to block out everything in one's surroundings and visualize what is needed without being disturbed by sounds or light. Crowley recommended about two years of meditation/visualization prior to any attempts to do magickal workings.

In my case I like to use certain types of noise to block out daily sounds...that is soothing to me. As far as black that isn't always the most calming color...read studies of color pertaining to prisons. Greens and blues are considered calming in interior design and in prisons they have found a certain shade of pink that has a calming effect. The bottom line is to each their own and whatever works basically. I prefer not to use any crutches.

I have always wanted to add a room like that when I buy/build a house, but I do think Azuredark made a good point. Once a person can meditate and tune out all the background noise and other sensory stimulation, I think they would have stronger control over their mental/emotional state. I've personally found meditating in these conditions to be extremely difficult. It takes much practice, but if you can learn to quiet your mind in a "loud" environment, I think it would make the mind that much more disciplined. Once a person can do that, I imagine it would make for a much easier and more fulfilling experience when they are actually in a deprivation room.

For me, meditating outdoors is a happy medium. There's enough stimulation to force you to tune it out, but not enough human contact to really overpower your thoughts.

I tune out so completely that it scares people.

Then again I am usually seen being hyper social.

Being "sealed away", and "isolated" keeps people from curiously intervening. To much though and concern could be warrented, Some hermits are skilled in knowing when presence (company) is needed.
