This thread is simple.

What is the reason you continue to do what you do?

Why do you put all that effort into the occult? why learn magicks, why learn about vampires?

At what point do you stop? What do you need to know more then your own nature? and if you have determined that your own nature is your own? then is there a reason to conintue beyond that point?

The same holds true with all the spells, etc...after a certain point all the texts just stop. There is no more information available. There is nothing available in writting about spellcrafting and such. Its all ones own works after a point.

Have you found this to be the case in your own lfie?

Why do the Catholics still attend midnight masses? Why do the Jews still fast? Why do the Hindus still worship an Elephant? Why do the Buddists still seek worldly enlightenment?

It's a religion. It's a belief. It's a faith. It's a way of life.

That is why we put effort into it. That is why we continue to study, to learn, to practice.

Because I want find out what happens next. I want to believe in something greater than all of this. It does me good to continue to seek truth.

I continue to do what I do not out of faith, belief or any other mumbo jumbo. I do it because it is who I am.

I practice the arts because it is natural to me, I have an instinct for astral/ethereal travel. I visit the "other side" on a regular basis. In my perception it is very real. It is not out of faith or belief that makes it real, it is what I see before me that makes it so.

It is the same reason why I am vampire. That which makes me vampire. From what I see through my perception, as well as what others see when they percieve me through their own. My actions, thoughts, and behavior are what makes me who and what I am.

In my view, religious or not...Society seems to have this fascination for religion. I will not deter them from this. But I will always watch them as always until at least one of them realizes the fact that what lay on the otherside is justified. Not nessessarily the heaven vs hell concept, but the over all concept of the "life after death" hereafter.

No, I have no reason for the practice. It has always been part of me. Do I need a reason to play video games? Out of boredom maybe. I see no real reason why society should have a reason to practice anything. Perhaps it is out of sheer boredom...So be it.

With respect to the study and vampire aspects of this question (as I do not believe in religion in any form), I study to discover the hidden truths of history from the "Dawn of Humankind" to present day... and in that, there is no end to the research and investigation that remains to be accomplished. It is fascinating, fulfilling and and ... frankly... exciting to peel back the layers of time and peer into the past seeing what so many others have missed. It's also... fun.

Studying the projection of imagination, and abstract perception is a flaw for me. I read a lot as a child. I studied as a ghost for 5 years, and have practiced as one since.

The Tradition is very much a part of me, it is not a belief, it is a physical confirmation.

The question is : Why do you continue to do what you do ?

For myself, it's because I enjoy the interaction, learning to appriciate 'new' and knowing there is so much more to know.

It's a grand adventure.

I continue to study to have a higher Spiritual awareness.

After 10 years of study....there is always more.

I to like the interaction with the meditation group I attend. The paranormal team. A new door opens when one is ready to walk through it.

I asked a Junkie Why he persist in using dope, he mentioned the socializing, half the time he relapsed was in company.


My practice of spooking is something I do because I am hooked to zapping people out of their comfort zone, learning from each reaction, so when those few who have seen something unexplainable, I can listen with familiarity to what they share.

Then I see people who practice (or claim to practice) simple to impress others, they are usually found bashing on others that share the same beliefs.

To continue to grow in knowledge and to enjoy the search for it. Stagnation is as good as death, one should always have some type of goal to strive toward, it would be favorable if it was in a positive manner.

I do what I do because of belief,belief that there is something out there bigger than all of us.I'm not saying it's God,cause I don't believe in God,But I also do what I do because,because I'm just hungry for knowledge.If there isn't anything left for me to learn then what then?

Simply because their is power in knowledge. It is my way of life, it is who I am, so that is why I continue on my path. I do not see another way.

I wish to learn more so I can share more. I love learning about new things and then discussing them with people. Especially if it's something about the paranormal. I could go on for hours about that subject, and I'm trying to find the right person to talk to about it.

Earlier i did not believed in religion, occult, panths, ghosts, para-psychics at all even though things happened with me in past saving me from crucial accidents. but once it started happening parapsychic activities with me( this is not a type of depression or illusion), first i forced to read Holy Geeta and secondly it forced me to dark world to find the answers to the quest of para-psychic activites alive happened with me. now it all is on calm side, but it left impact on me to beaware of it and to put effort in divinity of light side.

When you have read all you need to read learning to the point all the texts stop so you say. If you do that incredible feat then you have become very smart in your craft... But when you are wise in your craft then you will know there is much more to be learned and you will walk your own path......

Once I was not believing this all, but now i am scientific aand careful about the chaos of these things.

Well I was non-believer of such things earlier. But the things did put even my vision of this materialistic world in the chaos. the happening forced me to mass of confusion of what is real and true. even I started doubting this world of planets and mass too. this is the biggest confusion you can call when person doubt on earth and ground. ;)

I agree all psychic activity is convincing others an illusion is mystic, rather then crafted, the planet is here "Be here Now.

Practice life, it is very real, entertaining our selves with illusions in context is fun, putting emotional, and financial investments into that will do nothing to make that illusion real.No matter how Practiced the performer is at convincing others.

first I would like to say that we practice due to the fact that if we stopped we would stop the deep and unquenchable thirst to know and understand ourselves.
Some speak of illusion in this thread. I believe that reality like beauty and love are in the eye of the beholder. That said, the old ways must be maintained as there is truth to them that not all understand or should understand. It is only when the person searching finds the root of their deep hunger and deep passion and the confluence of those two that they may transcend and learn usually more than they bargained for.

Fortunately, reality is not in the eye of the beholder. Reality is testable, observable, and confirmable. Reality is backed up by cold hard data. It does not change to meet the desires of the one observing it. It has rules that it follows, and it follows them unquestioningly.

I suppose theres a veriety of reasons to why people invest alot of there time learning about these things, mine is simply because it interests me. Other's may indulge simply because there friends do. others just to show off there knowledge.

I come from a very pagan background … I grew up on Dartmoor, playing in the stone circles and my mum speaks to dead people. Lol
I know what you mean when the text stops and the mystical hidden path is so undusted it shines and then you see the cracks.
One thing I know is it speaks from my very essence, natural witch some said with astral journeys and other worlds knowledge.
Reading on I see soulshroude wrote basically what I wanted to say only much better….. lol
