Those that stand at the "Threshold" tend to have various accounts, of experiences. I tend to settle for a good natural Cocktail of Bio Dope, and then the Hallcination is sort of the "inflight movie" to oblivion.

i've had 3 loves ones die at home, they had cancer and choose not to go to a hospital, one was just old age, but they where all DNR's. One thing i know for sure is that i smell Him when He comes. some call him the angel of death, grim reaper, ect... I call him Thanatos. I've also worked in the ER. and seen about 7 people die, the smell is the same, but i dont think anyone else ever noticed

i believe in something like what the ancient germans/saxons/norse believed. there is an afterlife where you meet your kith and kin and a pretty good time is had by all. i do also believe that then you start over get reborn and do it all again.

Everyone holds some belief in what is yet to come, whether it is religion based or not. And this is what they will adhere too.

The pearly gates, the river boat, or just plain death, I scenerio that we can not possibley understand.

relating to space as the last final frontier, yet in my opinion death is the last final frontier in which humans will know.

Very much a true factor in all scenerios that may be played, whether the faith that holds them steady in the time of transition or any other form.

Transition in which deat will over take, is in fact to some a time too know all, glances of life and memories to the final knowing which may in fact be on the other side.

I have always believed that just because a body dies, it does not mean that the soul dies as well. A body is merely a vessel for the soul to use. For me, Rebirth, or Reincarnation is a big part of my belief system. I have met people who have the same soul as a loved one that had just passed away. It's interesting. I'm not sure if that answers the question, but it is what I believe.

in my belief system there is no hades, but the bridge to asgard is called bifrost...the rainbow bridge. valhalla is only one hall in asgard.
i suspect that each culture frames what happens in its own beliefs, but i think it is something different than all.

i do strongly believe there is something more afterwards, and its based on things ive researched...interviews and such with near death survivers, as well as reincarnation...where a small child knows all about someone that died before their birth, miles and miles away. some of those tales are truly haunting.

A slightly differant revelation, I am not sure if it would be transition, but mayhaps to feel a bit more comfortable about the crossing, the soul automatically reflects the feelings in a deeper condiftioning.

I have personally went to a cross roads, or more so a cross bridges. Within a huge cavern where individuals were going their own ways.

I am not sure what this cavern was called, but I was directed to another part of it before I had the chance to explore it.

Almost drowinig as a kid I never remember anything all is black, no white light at the end of the tunnel, yet I do not know how I even go out of the water, remember breaking through thhe ice and all is black and than on the shore, my faith says another realm does exist. but we do not know,

For man has not crossed such threshold and returned. and I think alot pertains on the way death comes to each of us on the expeirence of transition.

i believe that a transistion does occur .. but to what i am not sure...

my Mother said hers was a pink mist that she traveled .. but came back to us....

One must remeber that in many myths and/or beliefs, in order for one to 'go over to the other side' one has to pass a test of some sort.

For example, the ancient Egyptians beleved that in order for a person to get to heaven - the Boat of Life- one's heart had to be weighed against the goddess' Maat's feather of truth. If one's soul was equal to or ligher in weight to the feather, he/she got a pass onto the afterlife. If not, their soul was eaten by a monster - I forget his name.

I got a Gray haze. I have heard Pink Billowing clouds in my support group though.

My fav myth is the Gunfighters Practice of Sewing Silver coins in their cloths to pay the Ferry Man.

Hmm interesting when I was 10 yo' I read many myths and leyends and one that captured my attention was the death transition myths of the Egyptians, they sold the 'book of the dead' to every citizen of Egypt so they could place it in their tombs once they died they have a guideline for all the obstacles in the afterlife, and their crossing had something to do with crossing of the Nile river in the morning sun and their soul had to weight more than "something" to be accepted beside the gods in the afterlife. Some even died with their dogs, wives and their most precious artifacts in order to have it in their after life. This was a similar thinking with a tribe in the caribbean called the "Tainos" when the "Cacique" the tribe leader died, he had to be burried with his gems, wives, animals, food, alive or dead by his side, in order to pocess his things in the otherlife. So it is quite strange how this concept even in the most tribal subculture believe in afterlife.

When the Spanis Conquistadors came to the Island the 'Tainos' tought they were gods they saw this 3 ships coming from the great sea with such ease they thought they were from heavens above, they traded all kinds of artifacts for their precious gems in the first travel; mirrors, coins, clothes etc..Later on they tried to enslave the tribes for the extraction of gold from the rivers since their methods where the best and fastest, one day the Tainos decided to drown one of the spaniards in the river to see if they were really gods, aftewards they saw that this were no gods only people like them, so they started a mutiny and yeah 'spears vs guns', the aftermaths are predictable. Spanish Conquistadors killed all the Mesoamerican tribes along with many myths and stories not found in texts. Then tried to impose a Christian Catholic religion over their existing creed, with that their God and language as well.

Hmm im trying to find the myth its beeing aloooong time since i read that, i believe it was weighting the soul with the deeds comited in the lifetime, good and bad things he have done in the life.

True, Ravenous. In many ancient cultures, many took all they had with them in death ( The Chinese, Vikings, Sumerians, etc). Fortunately, over the years, they began to substitute real people and animals for inanimate objects to represent what they wanted and/or needed on their journey. The ancient Egyptians ceased human sacrifice long before many other cultures.

Mostly dabbler, remember in the days of old science of human bodies were just being discovered and corpses made good subjects of death and the human anatomy. but a lot of grave robbers were very prominent due to people being buried with their treasures.

I dont know but I do know that there are more deaths related to myth translation than visa versa. I think that is a little more priority. which is why there should be a sports game and the winners sponser church gets bragging rights and get to say their belief is the right on for a whole week. It'd have good ratings and a genuinely good-spirited message, with the contraversy comes the addiction factor. eh, a gal can dream ya know?

I believe in ascension. I believe when we die, we shed our physical bodies and evolve to a form of energy. Where we end up, who knows. This is actually a scientific possibility. We are mainly energy and energy cannot be destroyed. It can only change into something else. It is possible this change can occur keeping our consciousness intact.

Actually energy would disolve or lose current. So energy no matter what would soon fade, it would have to in some ways rejuvenate to gain more energy within the energy mass form.

I don't believe in a transition myth. I believe that there si a physical/spiritual transition that takes a little time to achieve.

1.) I do believe it takes the soul roughly 3 days to fully depart the body, and that it should not be moved a significant distance form it's death spot to ease transition especially for these three days.

2.) I believe it takes even longer than this for the soul to completely be emotionally detatched from the body.

It is like when you are very attatched ot your lover and they leave... the body and soul feals great longing for what it can no longer touch.

It is even worse for the soul to be detatched from the body.

For this reason I do not believe in reincarnation unless you are Budda, or have reached a sufficient level of detatchment of self.

I don't know why I wrote reincarnation... it is a blood sugar levels thing similar to stroke victims saying wrong words... LOL

I do believe in an afterlife but i don't expect to be waiting for something or to see a certain thing. I'll just be the butterfly coming out of my bodily cocoon as what i was originally before birth.

When i think of death i think while dieing, not after death as if our soft ware ) subconcious( is what gets us thru that moment.

Myths of death, the transition of life death is more of a fear in which the body and soul may finally realize what lies on the other side. another beginning, or just darkness and nothing.

Well I don't think about death and or how is going to be in a personal scope yet as a concious concept of fear haunting every steps or as an influence in my decision taking or daily basis, I welcome it anytime if it's by natural cause that is, but the perception and whole concept of it in every culture and civilization throughout time is intriguing, how it has forged the human path as a tool from the god/gods, influence or concept of higher power/ underworld. It has to be very interesting the studies of the topic in every culture/subculture scope for higher knowledge of the vision of life itself in every civilization and how they dictated their lives upon such ideals.

This is something i think about all the time. One thing i believe in is roaming around kind of in a limbo seeing everyone you loved that you lost. This is something i would like to happen though not something im for sure does happen. I am still trying to figure out what i belive in but that is one of my ideas on life after death.

Death is part of life. Where we go remains to be seen and is different for each person.

In my life i've seen death many time. To many times for anyone my age (19 years old). I've been into the paranormal for as long as i can remember and since my first encounter with death i've been what you call sensitive. I feel things happening that not many others feel. I can feel someone watching me and there's nobody there. Things have happened even i can't explain.

I don't get any smells but i get the feeling of i'm almost dead and embrace it.

Where we go when we die is something only those who have died see.

In my culture, my people believe that once we die (meaning us not others from different races), our souls travel to a specific place at the very tip of the North Island of NZ called Te Rerenga Wairua (The Leaping off place of spirits)

There, our souls leap off of a certain tree and travel by Te Ara Wairua (The Spirits Pathway). Our souls turn to look at the land one more time at a place called Three Kings Island before continuing the journey home to our ancestors in Hawaiki Nui.
