I think that we need to have a quiz that determines the knowledge that we have inquire in our experience with this site. This should be added to our status.. to be more diffucult to get to the next level.

I was thinking that a way to rate journals or something, or just a way to leave what you think of their journal..

As far as the test for advancement...if I wanted to take a test, I'd go back to school. I come onto this site to relax, not study my ass off just so I can go up a level. I have a hard enough time advancing as is not to mention finding the time to spend online to advance. If someone wants to take a test, perhaps they can make a contest of it with cool downloads or something as a prize, but please just make it an optional thing.

Done properly, perhaps not. Break it into "poster of the month", person with most posts over 30 days. Things like that.

I think the birthday/deathday icon idea is good, and so would be a watched threads sidebar.

Maybe a "shake your stalker" feature. A simple, enter the name whom you think is stalking you. If you're right, is says so and you're removed from thier stalking list and can't re-add you for say, 24 hours, and doesn't tell them unless they try to re-add you. If you're wrong, it sents a PM to the person you accused, much like the Bite.

I think a most posters thing would be disasterous... people post enough rubbish already.

You are correct. I only offered it as an example of the only way to keep the "member of the month" from being influenced by favoritism.

If there is factual evidence, ie a numerical value such as the number of posts, then there can be no question. LOL a wall of shame just came to mind, but I don't think that would be a wise choice either.

the birthday thing wouldn't work out well since people tend not to use their real birthdate and such. and the user of the week. good idea yet some people would be determined to get that "title" and would find ways to cheat to improove their status. or would make pointless comments in the forums just to get their number of posts up.

favorite threads/ watch this thread would be a good thing.

Oh yeah, member of the month would sound good, and to avoid favoritism, why not exercise freedom of choice. We'd all nominate members and then they'd be deduced to like for example 5 members and then we'd vote. Whoever would win will be the member of the month. No more favoritism.

many sites are like that where there is a higher age. this site happens to be 13. but personally i'd have to disagree with it since i'm not 18. but personally i think a message should be sent as to saying why you wanted to join or prior knowledge and your minds way of thinking. not all under 18 are immature, arrogant pricks. there are some whom act years sometimes decades older than they actually are. as well as those with a higher way of thinking than others of their age. but then again message approval for a site would take very long since i'm sure many people would love to join.

mm yes maybe there should be a specific link. like that of your journal or portfolio for that of quiz results, personally i believe the looking at all the results of quizzes a person has taken is too time consuming and makes pages load very slow.

also the possibility to comment in journals would be nice. i know of many people have "asked" for that. that would be easier then sending the author a message.

Journal rating would be ok , but only for Poetry entries . Wouldn't want your rants being rated or commented on , would you ?

I think Cancer mentioned previously that he wouldn't have journals being rated. I'm not too sure though

when you reply to messages you should be able to delete the history entirely or partly coz conversations get really long on here.

mm very true Aleks poetry only would be a good thing. people reading the rants is okay but commenting on them would be a bit...abnormal i guess.

and not really a rating for the journals just commenting. giving thoughts or suggestions on how to improve as a poet is always welcome. so that would basically be a good reason for the comments for poetry...

lets say, if your on for more that 30 days (yes I think it should be dayly) you go up fo a vote (only members above a certain level could vote) and if you are found guility, you loose the privilege to post od start a thread fo a month...

As for the RIA's and stuff...how come we don't get to decide what we think is interesting enough to talk about? Especially when a lot of people pay to be a member. And as I've said earlier, a lot of people including myself just come onto this site to relax and have fun. They follow the rules as best they can and just try to make friends, etc. Why have a Wall of Shame? Why discriminate against someone who has every right to be a member of this site? It's free to begin with therefore anyone can and will join. It's a little thing called diversity. Everyone is different and no, some people may not like a person but the whole voting to see who gets privileges revoked or who's the best at what is just one big popularity contest that doesn't need to happen. All it would do is cause problems between members.

Rating journals would start to get personal...not good...but, they kinda are anyway, as you can see how many people have a journal on their faourites list, its almost the same...

CSS style sheet edit box for portfolio and journals for PM's...I've spent 3 days trying to get it right using the comment box and failed every time...LOL

more special privalages for higher status....once past 8, its only your rating that carries influence....perhaps the ability to edit post content at 15 or...bite even if blocked at 20...

Journal Comments? NO WAY!!!!! The journal's are everyone's thoughts..and it'll be a bad thing if people would just rate your journal and what if someone doesn't like what you have written? Eh?

Yeah, I dont know what I would think of a journal ratings system, but I do think the 'unfavouritist' member of the mont could end up being a bit bitchy.

Then there are those that would actively seek that "unfavoritist" status as a means to prove that no-one liked them.

Cancer already has his reasons about rating journals, which is why there is no rating system already in place. Journals are meant to be sort of a one-way street. If you see something that you truely wish to comment on, you can message the person.

The wall of shame was just a random idea, and it's implementation would be simple, but the consquences for the Rave would be far reaching and possibly disastrous. My closest recommendation as a testable format would be to simply post pic and handle of people that have had thier posting privilages suspended due to RIA quantities. Sort of like the stocks in the town square.

I'd say no to rating journals as well, but perhaps a comment section for words of advice or wisdom if someone is having a problem and needs help? I don't know how well that would go over, but I know I need a little help every now and then. :)

But I would like it to be the possibility to post comments about it.Cause in that case I would know if my journal is a waste of time or not.And I want to hear different opinions,cause I always learn something from people's opinions,except if they're offensive.But seams that people don't get amused if they don't have to rate.

Sometimes I don't like the rating of the portfolio cause someone might get hurt if it is rated low but anyway a lot put their artwork there and want to hear opinions so let it be.

I forgot to say there's the fav journal list,I know,so if they're watching, I thank those who put mine in their list.

And I also liked the radion thing and to see who put you on the friends list but to the second one,I already know what the answer will be.

I finally thought of something! Instead of only getting to update your status once per hour, allow us to do it as many times as we want. That gets so aggravating to me.

a different way of making members adhere to rules/regulations is to put up "positive" vibes... why not put up a Wall of Fame instead? using reverse psychology could be the key...

as in when your name gets posted on the Wall of Fame and it stay up there for quite some time, maybe the Admin would "reward" that person even just a week-long period of being a Premium Member.. it might also coax them to apply once they experience the difference of being Premium members *smiles*
