Just as a polite request before I start, I would like anyone who believes vampirism is a state of mind (which it is, if someone has a blood fetish), or doesn't believe in vampires at to please not make any nasty comments on this thread.
I believe a few things about Vampires.
1) I believe there are many different types of Vampires."Races" for lack of a better term, unless you want to say "Species".
Blood drinking (feed on blood)
Psychic (feed off of energy and are psychic)
Psi (feed off of energy)
Elemental (feed off of the elements and weather)
Empathic (feed off of emotions)
Sexual (feed off of sexual energy)
Tantric (feed off of a different type of sexual energy)
2) I belive that you can be either born, turned or awakened. Awakened maybe more-so towards the non-blood drinking vamps MAYBE, and definately for psychic vamps, because they would also be awakening into their psychic abillities.
3) I believe depending on what race of Vampire you are, depends on whether you're "immortal" (in other words, as long as you aren't killed you don't die), or whether you just live a little longer than normal. Longevity in certain races, near-immortality in the others. I'd say maybe some are more like humans, but that's probably just human with a blood fetish (no offense to any one who DOES have a blood fetish, BTW).
4) I believe Vampires are not allergic to garlic and silver. Can't be killed by holy water or crosses or sunlight. If they CAN, its probably race-specific.
5) If the different races get along, imagine all the different, (POWERFUL) hybrids. Made either by birth, or one species of Vampire trying to turn the other.
6) I also believe in Master Vampires. There has to be some sort of authority keeping the Vampires in check, or else they would probably already be known to main-stream society. ANd definately a Council. It only makes since.
7) I also believe Vampires can make humans half-vamp if they wanted too.
8) I believe that they can make other Vampires their...pets/human servants, for lack of a better term. Sort of mentally bind them to you through a blood/energy exchange, depending what species you so-happen to be.
Very interesting. Especially about the councils. There are many houses through the courts in NYC, but they are very new (those houses). There are some older vampire orders around. In general, I've found that many of the older vampires (many classicals) find the new houses interesting, but prefer to be loners. Not many of us like the ideas of governing or a unified community or being kept in check.
yes thank you for that..but my question has always been who was the "real" original vamp...lilith or vlad?:P if anyone knows feel free to message me with their thoughts and or opinons on teh whole matter. ty
Very interesting and to the point.. Some here use different terms but i understand..
If I may make a few points in regards to your post please IceQueen...
I would shy away from defining different 'species' or 'races' of vampires, as we are all human at a basic level. But would instead say that there are different methods of energy exchange/absorbtion which define a cultural difference.
I feel personally that we are all born with the potential if it is in our soul, but that indeed, certain events need to occur in our lives (or past/future lives) to bring us to a 'turning' point of conceptual understanding of what a vampire is. The awakening is more of an ongoing process, a self-discovering trip through oneself, as there is always something new to learn.
As to immortality, there is a lot of 'discussion' and disagreement as to what this means. The most common ground is that it is not the physical shell which lives forever, but the immortal soul which is able to divulge the information and understandings of previous lives into the current one, thus giving the wisdom of ages and allowing the conciousness to hold together through many lives, though, some say that this enables a longevity of life through better undertsanding of energy works upon the body.
garlic, silver, holy relics and water I don't beleive can harm anyone unless the person being attacked with them has a psychological condition or indeed, rare allergy, but sunlight will kill anyone that spends enough time in it and it is hot enough, so people are affected to varying degrees and as the system of a vamp is designed to absorb energy, this can lead to 'overload'.
The term hybrid is a little unfair, as all are individuals and unique, so all would be referred to as hybrid, just as all human races are 'hybrid' due to genetic mingling. Once one starts own this road, racism and superiority complexes start to develop and so I avoid this or any other similar term.
'Master Vampires'? Who knows, not me...
'Half Vampires' can be equated to what is known as 'sympathetic vampirism'- a condition where the energy system of a non-vampyric person is damaged in some way, usually through psychic attack or a feeding that took too much and/or too regularly, resulting in acute energy loss that needs to be replenished in a feeding manner, but this can be repaired, whereas a true vampyric neccessity will never heal, even over the course of many lifetimes.
The servile thing is too true...but this can be acheived by any competant and malevolent psychic being. If one chooses to submit to a vamp for their own pleasure, so be it, but there are cases of 'ridings', where an entity will attach itself to a person and essentially 'pull strings' in order to generate its favourite flavour of emotion, be it through sex or violence or any other act. This can be broken through careful meditation and/or sheilding though.
icequeen good read but i must agree with our brother stabb.
Lord Of Noctem Aeternus
Im sorry, but this has to be said.
Those who think vampirism is a perspective shoudl not be coined off with being told they have a blood fetish, thankyou very much.
There are some people who just believe that they are vampires... in which case it does become an altered state of mind... but there also exsist people who don't just think it or believe it... but they down right are.... these are the ones who start to suffer if they do not feed! As for the different rankings and master vampires... well yes they do exist... but not every vampire lives under the ruling of a master... there are loners!
well thers is that saying..
"you think therefore you are"
but it doesn't really make sense becuase why if i think i am a monkey ...
but i am not a monkey!!!!
First, I will address nightangelsblood.
Please no one scorn me for this, because it will sound a bit...odd. But my mother, Emeraldswanxx and Nephthys can both attest to having witnessed this.
I happily own a Ouija Board. I have met two vampires through it who are on the astral travelling on the Real-Time plane. Rabere (pronounced like the French "Robert") Inej Derkesthai says he is the first vampire and that he is two million years old. I have also met him on the astral plane when I have been astral projecting.
Xander Leukos, the second vampire (Rabere made him) is 8282 years old.
STABB, very interesting opinion. Do you even believe in turning?
And when I say 'hybrid' (no, I will not use that term anymore, unless I cannot think of a subsititute) I mean possibly, say, someone is already a Psi-vamp, and say a Sanguine/blood drinking vampire trys to turn the Psi. I doubt the Sanguine would fully turn the Psi, but the Psi would have some of the Sanguine's traits.
Yes, I know there are alternate ways to feed and exchange energy.
very interesting..... in those "races/species" it seems as if I am most of them.....
nicly writen. i of course dont agree purly 100% with all of that but it is very accorate and logical.
It's such a bummer when I pop on and there's little more to be said.
*politely bowing out.
Very important, and strong beleifs you all have...

Don't listen to me, i'm insane.
The question I have is which is it.. species or races?
don't know what I mean?
Alright, easy way... can the mixed races mate?
If they can their races... otherwise it's species... cause two species can't (or aren't supposed to anyone, sometimes science does it anyway) reproduce together, while two races can...
Which would make sense too, cause
TangibleNightmare
said she feels as if she's most of them..
:-) just an opinion.. might be stupid.. :-)
It seems a bit unfair to say species, it makes us sound like animals, which we are not.
Thanks.
Okay, okay. I didn't MEAN species. I meant races. Was half asleep AND hyper so couldn't remember which was which. @.@ I do believe that the diferent RACES can "breed" or "mate" however y'all wish to put it....
7) I also believe Vampires can make humans half-vamp if they wanted too.
If we don't turn them, we kill them....it's a rule....if we were to make a half vamp...it could betray, something no Vampire wants.
Just my opinion.....
A great read none the less
Thank you for the opinion, Marius.
And, thanks to others who have stated what they believe.
great post, i think it really can be a forum breaker, this one is hot as hell or can be.
good info :)
people in here have alot of different terms and wiews on whats a vampire and not!
anyway nice job on the info:)
Wow. Some of you have such strong opinions on this subject that it's hard for me to choose which to believe. I, myself, do not know much about vampirism and wish to know more on this subject. I am always open to new ideas and will not critisize anyone's opinion. Thank for the great info, all of you.
very interesting every thing was very detalid i loved it! good read!!
IceQueen,
After careful consideration, I would say that I don't believe in 'turning' as the phrase is commonly defined.
I don't believe that a person can be turned into a vampiric entity by another vampire from a general feeding from either blood or any kind of energy exchange under normal circumstances.
Though, there can always be exceptions to any rule.
I feel that it takes not only an existant potential within the soul coupled with a catalyst event of a greater order of magnitude, a life changing event, one that reshapes the conciousness, essentially 'breaking' the conditioning of institutionalised education systems and allowing for what can be loosely ascribed as an 'epiphany' to enable to mind to concive of and accept and understand without insanity (and often with) the concept of vampirism.
I am a little confused at your use of the word 'turning' in terms of a blood feeder attempting to 'turn' a psy feeder.
From what I have understood, it seems that it is less likely for a blood feeder to be able to draw and absorb psy energies, but, being that the method of feeding from blood is essentially an energetic transmission, it is theoretically possible for all psy feeders to draw energy from blood anyway, even without some form of 'turning' as you put it.
What I should also mention is that I know of several instances where psy feeders have a blood fetish, but do not actually draw their sustaining energy from it...they simply enjoy blood play.
This, I suppose could come as a result of a social interaction with a blood feeder and such a relationship could well draw a psy feeder towards blood letting activities, but whether this 'turns' them into a sanguine vampire, is unlikely.
I was finally starting to believe that maybe the idea of "real" vampires was possible until I started reading this thread. BEFORE YOU ALL GET MAD LET ME EXPLAIN. I do believe people in fact drink blood and thus consider themselves to be vampires. I believe they do this because of some sort of mental reason (for lack of a better word) not that they are crazy just that something is different about their chemical makeup in thier brain. And it is even possible that others can feed off someone's energy isn't that far fetched. But to think any being has been living for 2 million years or to suggest that there are different races or species of vampires that aren't human at all sounds like something right out of a movie. Wouldn't modern science have caught on by now. Of course this is just my opinion.
I believe I am not educated enough on the subject... but I will always remember something my mom told me when i was a kid about vampires and wherewolves... if it is true that when they bite you you become one, bynow everyone would be one, through simle math... I know this isn't the case, but I can't help but to think of this.
Okay, one thing about the 2 million years thing. I'm not really sure that this planet has even been around that long - I do not really believe in evolution. And anyway, Ouija Board entities are known to exaggerate, especially to impress. That why I said that he SAID he's 2 mil years old.
some of what u have said is true and some is not, vampyres do exist, if they didnt y am i here. also, there are only two immortals, no one else
Very interesting....but i agree with you on some of the cases
myradu... What might you mean by there are only two immortals? I mean, I know of two...
