There is a new contest in play. The prize is a Vampire Rave Lifetime Membership.

The first member to receive 1000 Referral points and max out their referral bonus will be awarded the prize. If you win and already have a Lifetime Membership you may gift your prize to another Vampire Rave member.

This will be a long-ranging contest. It will take some time for a member to receive 1000 referral points. There is a new category on The Top page, Most Referral Points. There you can track your position among other Vampire Rave members.

I like this new contest but i dont understand how you get points by refering people do you get points for thier levels or something?

It's explained on the Status System page, and the Referrals page (in the User Menu).

Good idea for recruiting. I just wish I knew some that were like me outside VR, or I would recomend them all.

I think this is a great contest, and the fact that it will be a long running contest actually gives all members a chance to participate and to do it fairly.. Good luck to all.

i like the sound of the contest gonna take awhile for ppl to get to that range but its doable if they apply themselves .so everyone including cancer and staff is able to take part well thats cool hehe


LadyLoveCat the reason your probably not getting points for your referals is cause those who put your name were under stage 4 they gotta be 4 or above for points to kick in hehe read the faq it explains alot

also best way to get the word across if anyone wants tips is put it in your email signature or on your websites or other sites you frequent and then theres word of mouth through messengers hehe just some thoughts :D

Just make sure you're using referral links. When you are logged in, if you go to the banners page, the code reflects your referral info. If you go to the banners page while not logged in, it's just standard link code.

You'll also see custom links on the Referral page in the User Menu.

im going to try but i know i wont win.. i dont know that many people on or off line LOL..

My apologies if this is explained elsewhere; but if you refer someone and they refer other people is it possible to get some sort of credit for that?

Tips on how to gain referals ...

take your link or one of the banners and if you have a myspace... or vf account or a site where they allow linked images like a banner on the actual profile page post it there ...or if a site lets you use a space for a link put your referal there .also another way to get referals is put the url in your email signature ;) and make sure the ppl use the referal url .......join up and STAY ACTIVE

if your having trouble locating your referal url ..i found a way to find it



go to the banners while logged in under your name , copy the banner code ...your referal url is in there and at least if for whatever reason you can not use the banner you at least have the url to give to prospective new members :)

You all have to understand that you might refer 25 people to the site that never do anything more than visit once, make a profile, and then bail. That is why it will be a long-term contest. A lifetime membership is quite a prize so as a friendly tip, try to refer people that you know are really interested in this site. Of the 6 or 7 people who joined through me, only 1 of them is actually being active on the site. Her advancement already marks me with a bonus modifier.... oh yeah, read about that in the referrals or status section as well. After the people you refer start giving you points, you get a bonus towards your status.... is that better? I would think all of you would be stepping up the efforts to find people... especially knowing that it can help you in the long run.

What exactly are referalls and referal points?

i am gonna use me as an example to vampwriters post .i refered 10 ppl and hundreds see my links on vampirefreaks ..myspace and spicepad.com out of the ten ppl who joined using my link 5 are active .....thats a 50%ratio of my referrals ..

and it does help your status when they go up levels if they are premium members the points for you when they advance double ....

a lifetime membership. oh let me go email the url to ppl i know will participate alot .i have probably a few hundred emails in just my comcast acct lol

I don't expect anyone to be able to directly refer enough people to win this contest.

About 75% of my referrals come from VR banners that I have on other sites that I run. People I don't even know. As someone said earlier, that is the best way to gain referral points...

I am working on new methods with better encoded URL's that will allow a member to gain referral points for new sign ups. I want to implement something like:

If you go to that page you'll see Jason's profile. If you sign up for membership afterward, Jason gets the referral.

No long messy URLS, etc.. and this stuff can be easily printed on personal VR cards or fliers.

As to the contest, I suspect it will take 1-2 years for a winner to emerge. The system is designed to heavily circumvent fraud.

Cancer that was going to be my next question about possible ways to fraud ..I get my referrals fair and square cause of my banner or when banners not able to be displayed i use my url in user menu under the section labeled other..


i have had instances as an acolyte where ppl arent seeing it for one reason or another ,which is why i suggested grabbing the banner code for just the url if a banner couldnt be displayed in the profile ..also for when ppl can not seem to find the referrel option in the user menu ...

now that im happy to hear fraud isnt possible i'm gonna do my best to win cause i know whoever wins the prize got it fair and square!

Well, I won't go so far as to say fraud is not possible. It's just unlikely.

Referral points aren't even counted unless a referred member is at least level 4. So think about how many fake accounts would have to be created, and then elevated to level 4+ to score 1000 referral points...

This is one of these that the referal points still help out a bit anyway. Even if you don't win the prize or get that many you are still benefitting by the bonus.

this page is as good as any to ask you Cancer. You see I had a few friend join this but they never had referral at the time, so they never could add me as responsible. As for new member, I sent my sister the link and she one of our newest whelps, but never had it show i was her refer and she did not see a page to state that, been asking lot of the higher up how to do it and they don't know. Sorry to ask you here, but it was late when I came on and can't seem to figure how to get the points for my referals.

When I first instituted the referral system, if you'll recall, there was a 2 week period where you could claim past referrals.

After that window closed, no further modifications could be made. Next I announced this contest.

If I allowed further past referrals, fraud would start. Everyone had an early opportunity to get their past referrals in.

As to your question of ongoing referrals... I've check the referral link system many times. I've signed up test accounts and everything is working okay.

However, it does require that the viewer allow VR to set a cookie. If they're blocking cookies you won't get the referral credit.

I think the contest is sweet, but there is the problem about it with newer members.

New members join every day, it really don't be much fair for them.
