The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

For some of us, the alure of vampirism is having the time to learn, to study as much as possible, and to understand.

My questions are:

1.) Is anyone afraid to learn new things?

2.) Has being afraid of looking like you don't know what you are doing, ever made you scared to learn something?

3.) What about when you are completely unfamiliar with the subject? (ie Virgin, as opposed to recently divorced)

4.) Do you panic thinking about it? If not why, and when was the last time you were scared of something new?

5.) In the light of your personal revelation, do you think some vampires would have trouble keeping up with new learning, such as technology, darwinism, or even the concept of air and gravity? (anachronic)

This seems like a personal anxiety and self security issue to me.

Being vampire, I have neither anxieties, nor security issues regarding my learning nor knowledge basis. The will power to learn is a great thing. It does not take an individual that wants to think they know what they are doing and or saying to learn. No matter who the individual is, vampire or no, the power to learn comes from within.

Now, I am no movitational speaker by any standards, but those who confess to being vampire should have the security within themselves to stand by what the vampire truly stands for, and thus should not have any fears nor doubts pertaining to anything that holds them back.

What about imposed learning?

I was thinking about how long it has been since I have disliked learning something new, and I thought it might be interesting to understand this fear. Perhaps I am not pushing myself hard enough, if I am not afraid to learn something? ... like when your in school and you are learning things at the same rate that your brain is developing and sometimes you can't learn something because your brain is underdeveloped and can't quite grasp teh concepts yet and it gives you fear.

I agree that fear is not to be a limitation, but maybe it is an indicator of how fast we "should" be going?

Well there is the sites where one can be member to learn and my adopt if suitable for them.

I been grown upon Vimpirenest and its sectors, temple UVUP groups such as the Legion, The Coven of Darkness, sacred-text, smoke and mirrors, CastleDark etc etc.

I am a learning freak, I love to learn.

Knowledge to me is like a drug. I enjoy learning new things or even learning more about what I know

Impose knowledge to me is like a blessing. I doubt I would ever fear to learn something. I might find it challenging to a point harder then I can handle, but never fear.

I would think the day we stop learning is the day our brain die. So we also die.

An open mind is an ever learning and gainable one in Knowledge.

I know for a fact that I am not afraid to learn new things. I love to stay open-minded.

Nope I don't panic and I've never really been scared to learn something new. I always try to stay open-minded and to be up for anything.

Hm... I'm not too sure about the last question. I think that just like humans, if the vampire put his mind to it, he would be able to learn about anything.

The unknown is scary to everyone.. It doesnt matter whom the person is.. The unknown simply is scary until it is a known..

Learning is the possibility of opening one's mind to new things.

Afraid if it does'nt feel right to you. don't do it.

But why would one would want to hold back in learning?

For if we do so...we would only have the same stale viewpoints, and could go no farther in educating ourselves.

Everyone has fears that you cannot control.........its natural

People over all loose some ability to learn new things as they age. Some of it due to physiological issues, some due to being set in their ways.

Some people make up things to learn about, just to appear to be well educated.

So some people are afraid of being seen as uneducated.

They profess studies into esoteric things, that have no application in actuality, so though they have knowledge, they have not wisdom.

Fear.. a motivation for learning.. Sad!!

Isn't becoming set in your ways, the same thing as fear of learning?

Define " set in ones way"

You leave out the potential for those who find what others consider what others learn to be " Been-there-done-that" , and now realize their is no application for such " studies".

Life is not " Deeper Meaning", it is more " a better understanding of Life" and everyday I learn, and discover more about Life.

So much so that I abandoned what you imply to be so important to learn.

So what is this obession you have KL of what others " fear" are you
so inclined to imply that just because you read about philosophy, religion, and arcania that you are overcoming some fear?

Are you not concluding that what you claim to study ( learn about) to be absolutly important to your development?

have you studied.. Deductive Reasoning?
Critical Thinking, ir Fallacies if Logic? Or are you afraid that to do so would cause you to reexamine what you already " learned".

I love learning and can't remember a time when I've ever been afraid of learning no matter how hard it may be. If fact the harder something is to learn the more determind I am to learn it no matter how frustrating.

If I look like I don't know what I'm doing I'll ask for help sometimes, otherwise if I know what I'm doing and I don't look like it, then I must be distracted. If anyone asked, I'd explain.

If I'm unfamiliar about a subject, I research it. If I can't find the answer, I ask, if I still can't find the answer, well I guess all my resources don't know. And I am very resourceful.

Do I panic when I think about it? Not usually. Last time I was scared of something new was becoming a mother. I am still scared, because I want to be a good mother and sometimes I'm afraid I'm not doing good enough.

Most vampires would not have trouble keeping up with new learning I would think. After all they have great memories and are greatly skilled already. In fact I'm sure some vampires thought of some of the technology that was created. I am sure some vampires have seen it to come. You never know.

I will address the question in the general. I'm open to new things and love to learn. My body is also changing, and I don't rebound from physical experiments as fast as I once did. I think this gives me a micro-second of hesitation, which in turn engenders a battle: should I plunge ahead and the devil-may-care, or consider that whatever experiment I'm being offered may not be for me.

So I prefer to call it wisdom rather than fear, and gathering information rather than the cold, hard plunge.

What concerns me most is the reactionary, emotional response I have to hesitation, which is entirely negative, impulsive, preferring the devil to a more well-thought out plan simply because the pause seems "old." I can be rather immature in this regard.

In the West we celebrate youth and the impulsive far too much, I think, and no respect is given to a studied approach.

At the heart of what we study to learn, is the practical application of what is learned. If ones only motive for learning is to settle fears, that is irrational.

What one chooses to learn, and devote studies to should include application. Exercising what is learned.

One would have to be completely stupid to believe in creationism over darwinism to start with. And how exactly is the discovery of gravity anachronistic...? Anyway, I am personally not afraid to learn new things. Knowledge is power, is it not? The only time that one would not want to learn something new would be if they had zero interest in that subject or no need to know it. i fail to see why anyone would be afraid of new knowledge, assuming of course, that it is fact.

i pesonally strive to learn as much as i can about everything i can and iam a question hound , thoe my poor brain may not maintain the info given me for any length i rely on recall and hope the refridgerater light comes on

Perhaps I should study this one too...As I never feared learning...I got a little anxious over things I had trouble learning (aka numbers), but I have never feared anything with lettering involved. I am addicted to words.

My parents made the mistake of using a dictionary as a door stop for my bedroom door. It was three inches thick and larger than the Thomas Kinkade full edition bible that my mom later bought me. From the moment I could read, I was poring over that book. It taught me to spell, what words meant, and what words could be swapped for others. I read it so many times it was getting worn. I was bored and it was there. I loved it.

Then, I found a translation dictionary for another language to English. I may never understand the sentence structure or pronunciation, but I can recognize the words written on a page. I knew tons of words in other languages by the time I was eight. Odd for a person who can only speak one language. I write several.

I read constantly; write constantly. I love learning; I am addicted to it. I get bored so easily when there is nothing new to be found. I am easily amused by things, but the same old, same old puts me to sleep. I need the strange and unusual. I need the unknown. I can't stand a stagnant pool (not to mention the mosquitoes).

If someone were to live a very long time and possess a hyperactive intelligence, I would think they would spend a great deal of time learning. With this in mind, I would think also that they would expect and be prepared for the World's changes far quicker than the usual population. It gives meaning to life to learn. Without the unknown, we would all fall into sleep and die without meaning...

I think those who would be considered darker have a thirst for knowledge. I was told once in a way this is a sort of feeding of the mind. We should never stop learning, it keeps our mind active and alert. I even went to learning video games at an older age, mainly because of the child clients I had that were disabled and wanted me to play but found it helps hand-eye coordination. Continue to learn and one continues to grow and have a youthful outlook on life. We don't stay young forever. It doesn't matter if it is about vampires or any topic. Everyone has to go through some forced learning but if it wasn't we wouldn't take the time to do it, we would play and feel sorry we wasted all that time later down the line.
