Since Batchyld was kind enough to close my thread about the testing (Phew!), I thought it would be best to start a study group to those SERIOUS about the testing, and wanting to prove it so.

Are there certain questions/section you feel that are more important to those just starting here? Post them here.

A certain passage not to be taken lightly and may need further review? Again, post them here.

PLEASE-- do not post 'I'm not there yet, but good luck,' or 'I don't know what you mean, but whatever'. I'm getting sick of having to read it, and I'm sure others are as well.

A good portion of the test will cover the Terms of Service and DMCA policy. You can find links to both at the base of any Vampire Rave page.

I should have the test finished before the end of the week.

As boring as it is to read it all, I assure you, it was twice as boring authoring it all.

On the plus side, as future Acolyte questions come in, if the answers to them are not already in the manual, I can add them in.. So the manual will grow with time.

Ok.. I'll tackle this one.
If it is a segment (or excerpt) of a written work ( such as a passage out of a book or a single poem from a collection ) and as long as credit is given to the author of the work and the title of the piece from which the segment is taken from is listed as well, it should be ok to post in your profile. It would not be appropriate to post that in your portfolio, as the portfolio should be a showcase for your own endeavors.

My question:
Is it ok to place music (not your own and with no written permission) in your profile?
I pay fees to ASCAP & BMI to be able to play music on my tv show, but the rules may be different or nonexistant on the web. I was under the impression that you could only use a 30 sec. clip without paying royalties.

Hmm, I see a lot of music beign used in people's website, but as long as they list who it is and not claim it as their own, I'm thinking it's alright... I'm gonna look it up though, just in case.

Lately I have ran across a few questions from members that really aren't considered as "help" questions. Such as : Have you found the truth out about vampires & what am I. My question is... how would you answer questions such as those? I just simply said that those questions are not for an Acolyte.

bloodthirsty i've gotten several of those questions lately .it comes with the territory how i answer them for most parts is just like this :

This is for helping ppl with the navigation of this site ,it's not a desk where we answer questions of a more personal nature ,if it has to do with vr and it's navigation that's fine go for it ,ask everything and anything you want ,but if it doesn't pertain to vr maybe make a friend and keep it in messages or post in the forum when your at that level that you can post a question you just posted to me :) thank you :)

I like to include links with my resonses, so that the person I'm answering the question for can see where to find the information themselves... which works well when they don't type well and you can't figure out what the question is in the first place...

That's very true-- same for those that are really into CAPS to try and get their point across. It's like being yelled at.

Yews but i have never come acroiss what to do if osmone comes to you wiht a complaint about another member do you answer it or do you direct them somewhere else since you cannot do anything except direct them to block the member.

i just got this one about love and i told them this is for qestions about the site

does anyone know if we will be notified that the test is ready or not? i am applying to be an acolyte and i dont know how i will know if it is ready or not and i dont want to click to apply again if its not ready and irritate Cancer

I was thinking the same thing.

I've been wondering if said test was ready yet but I don't want to keep asking/re-applying every other week or so.

i also wonder when this test is, i keep expecting to lose my acolyte status and take this test. But as yet, no word has come to me about it being there yet.

Cancer usually has things under control, when the has the test ready, he will post a link. He will more than likely post something about it in the "News" section.

So I would probably keep checking there.

i have not got the acolyte mark yet but i always get asked

"how do you get those awsome pics or backrounds on your profile"

and i simply tell them for pics in profile goto a place like photobucket.com

and for things that deal with html.. there are member articles on the subject on those...

Start with the TOS area, then prolly the FAQ's. But in short, basicly study the VR Manual.

oh mabye people could message would be acolytes and ask questions that are common or unique depending on the person and if you wanna see if they can do it..

ok so heres a question and its not ment directly at anyone in particular

its states that in portfolios your only allowed to have work done my you specifically..

yet many people have music and graphics not by them...

so i guess my question is...what is allowed and what isnt? its confusing when theres even acolytes with thus stated things in their portfolio

well correct me if i am wrong ,, but you can have other pics/graphics as long as it is ok with the other and you sstate it in your port.....

and you get to play music in your slide show so why cant you have other music?

romman you already are a acolyte(but answers ? anyway)

you need to go to status system .. there you will scroll down and see apply for acolyte.. click there if you are 18th lvl or highrer then you will be in line to get acolyte testing.. right now it is in the making so you cant take it ... but whn it comes and you applyes then you can take the test...

This won't help those who aren't acolytes at the moment. I found that when I go to answer a question, if I don't know the answer to it, I let it be for someone else then go find out what the answer is. It's a good way to study, kind of a pretest.

I admit I'm starting to wonder myself...
