There are stories, legends, myths, magic spells, and bible stories on selling you soul for a price.
Now, there are 2 questions I have.
Has there ever been any proof that some one has sold there soul and received what they wanted or did not get what they wanted, even if it is a legend?
Would you sell your soul for something?
has there ever been any proof that some one has sold there soul and received what they wanted or did not get what they wanted? even if it is a legend
would you sell your soul for something
Some legends, myths and so on do suggest that different people may have done so and received what they wanted in return. Others have suggested that the person didn't get what they wanted and died.
I would never sell my soul in return for something. I would trade places or die but not sell my soul. The soul is what makes each person who they are. Why have some demonic force or something else take that over and take away who you are.
In the end, the soul truly belongs to no one except to the source of it's creation.
Whomever came up with the stories of selling one's soul is an interesting question. I think it just makes for a good wives tale.
I find this most often appears in Christian myths.
"Selling your soul" was used by the Catholic church as a metaphor for exchanging one's morality and good afterlife for a sinful, decadent lifestyle. It eventually took life and became quite literal via the route of urban legend-but I don't think Satan actually appears and offers riches for your soul. I've never heard of it in modern day, nor can I find any proof.
It is a metaphor, and people with no concept of metaphor take everything to literal extremes.
the soul is all. the food you buy is your soul. the food that is being sold is your soul. so as the times call for freedom for which our country stands and fights for. do we live in a free country? and as wadges earned and dealt out what does it mean to sale ones soul? does the devil deal in the buisness of buying souls? I see it this way everything is up for sale. in the fact of cause and effect you get what you put out you pay with your deeds to get back the wadges that your deeds merit so if I do wrong what kind of buisnes deal am I working out ? am I not in a way saleing my soul for the effect of the wrong deed, useing the cash of wrongdoing, or say I chose to spend some money on things I need now if the soul is food and no one should starve what of it? am I saleing my soul? lets just say that the soul is money for truth sake and the soul is food for truth sake and the food that I buy and eat is the whole universe as I take a bite out of some bread or drink some red wine for truth sake I am eating and drinking the whole humanrace now lets say that everyone is everything but is everyone profiting as the major buisnesess profit or is the check in the mail ha ha got chains? lets say I chose to buy an item and the price of which is 18$ am I saleing my soul to the devil because that 18$ is not multiplied by lets say the whole worlds population and greedy ugly hands profit for the buisness transactions but the rest of the absent minded world does not get equal shares I see that if you win you get a fiddle of gold but if you lose the devil gets your soul. who is like the beast who can make war with him and that my respons
I dont think you can sell your soul but thats just a personal thought. I agree in the metaphor. Isnt there a legend about sailors and captains who sell there souls for gold and luck and I dont know what. Anyway sailors tended to live pretty decadent so I can see how the legend came from there.
Ok so IF I could sell my soul would I do it. No. There is alot of things I would do for money but not that. I do believe that the soul lives on after death of the body so I dont want anyone to own me for eternity.
Based on the theological perspective, I would ascertain that a religious based individual would conjecture with a response such as "How can one sell their soul, if it did not belong to them in the first place? Since it has always belonged to 'God'"
Seems like a fair question to me... Er, the How can one sell their soul if it does not belong to them in the first place. Again, from a theological perspective.
"Selling" your soul for a price? What if I'm not sure if I have one anymore? *ponders*
If it was really possible I would refuse.
If I want to obtain something I work hard for it, you have a price to pay so no, that is always if there is really a soul.
If I give a gift to someone, then that gift belongs to that person.
If God has given me a Soul, then it is mine, to use as I wish.
However if only a small part of me is made manifest at any one time on this earth then I do not have full ownership of that gift.
My higher self holds that gift in trust for me.
I may take myself on a dark path, I may believe that I have the power to sell my Soul for whatever reason, but no, my Soul is in safe hands.
If it were not so, then it would be the same as giving a small child a box of matches to play with.
and thats fun, playing with fire was always good fun for me.lol
anyway if there were souls i would sell mine for unlimited power.
According to the old tale, the soul was not taken when the deal was made, but later when it was time to collect.
If you are living, you do have a soul. If you didn't have a soul, you would be dead.
Those that keep their soul after death have eternal life. Only trick here is that you have to know how to feed on energy to do this.
If you have Out Of Body Experiences, you will most likely keep your soul. Then for those that remain in the flesh their whole life with no Out Of Body Experiences, they will most likely end up trapped in dreams after death without being able to escape.
In the physical world, we are given an identity and when you borrow money, according to the banks, they own a piece of your soul till you pay them back. If you keep borrowing money your whole life while letting all that debt add up, one day they will come to collect and many will die.
How many of you owe on something you purchased? How likely are you to pay it all back in less than a year? I think most have already sold their souls and don't even realize it.
Kee3ping with the metaphor, a person can over devote to anything, so much so that it drains upon their
core personality.. often in return for their dedication they receive trivial, superficial return, yet other aspects of their life become hollow, and devoid of maintanance.
Never hear of nobody selling their "soul" to the devil or any demons. The creation of this "legend" go back in time when the crusader were among us. But, what should you get for your soul, if you have one?
I do not see how one can sell something that was created by a higher being, if it does exist. I myself feel that it is just a saying as when people do something really horrible as a trade-off to get ahead or whatever in life. * I sold my soul to the devil*
That is all it is in my opinion just a saying to cover the bad you have done cause well the soul is still in you not someone else. Plus I do not see anyone trying to take, hell they are not even sure where to find it . just my opinion
I would not sell my soul for anything; no monetary thing is worth my soul. For as bad as life can get, I prefer to experience all the emotions that come along with having a soul. If I were numb to everything around me, then why bother going on living?
I think anyone who does attempt to sell their soul is looking for an easy way out of things. That's just my opinion though.
Gain is a gamble, a person is tempted by taking short cuts. to be the best at something just by abandoning conventional trial, and error, to skip out on the potential for rejection, or failure. like a musician that tolerates an agent with unscrupulous practices. Or a figure skater that goes along with a fixed event.
i remember an old story about the cross road where a jazz musician wanted to make it rich and famous and the devil appears and he is raken it the doe and has a lot of fans and iam not sure but i believe he died early and was forever remembered um soooo ya i say it would work just like that
would i sell my soul only if i could write the contract otherwise no because i dont need no twisted genie crap
Which brings the question, what is in it for the one that is to procure a persons "soul".
We all know what the price is for a Meth high.
I would lease it out.
Or the traditional slavery contract (non-american) whereby one buys off the contract with labour, (like an apprenticeship)
The purpous being similar to the traditional decent to hell for saving others.
To sell your innocence for the advancement of your own soul, or others, seams more wise than giving it for free, as is the way more common practice.
That makes a case to my pending question, what is a "soul" worth to the person abtaining the "deed". Thanks. Why invest ones own "soul" when you can bargain with the rendered "souls" of others?
Hmm... perhaps I should get into the business of buying souls. They sound delicious.
how can you sellsomething if your not even sure you have. I think it is just an old saying yet, that is just me.
I would not sell my soul...but...I might sell yours! ~smiles~
good idea, make a deal with a whatever and sell your friend's soul instead lol, although i doubt it would work.(unless you make them sell it to you first)
when i was younger i almost sold my soul i found a pact ritual but ended up not doing it..i believe it is possible and have heard stories myself particularly one of a musician who could not play guitar then years later he played like a genius ppl said he sold his soul to the devil he was a old blues player
in one of the thiestic satanic grimiores it explains the way to sell your soul, and the price is to be paid AFTER DEATH but you get what you want in life on earth
I don't believe people could sell the very essence that makes them what they truly are. If you were to sell your "soul", then theoretically you would no longer be who you were before. Then your wants and needs would have changed and therefore you would have effectively made the selling of said soul pointless.
However, I do understand the concepts of wanting something in your life so much that you would go through almost any means to obtain it. I myself am in a situation right now that I would do most anything in my power to change it for the better of someone I love. However if I were to sell my soul for it then I am no longer myself and even my love for this person would have changed.
In my opinion if you could sell your soul, it would do nothing but nullify the want in the first place, effectively taking care of the problem.
I'll bet the first nations had a similar attitude about land.
People are constantly selling things that others are not even aware could be bought. Domain names in the late 90's, people a couple hundred years ago... et al.
Pretty soon it will be inviro sink credit, noise polution credits, and voting rights.
As far as selling yor soul, no I will never believe that a possible act. However devoting your soul, that is an entirely different story. Christians devote thier souls, Satains devote thier souls.
LOL Icarrot(sp) that is how alot of families are unfortunately , some are lucky to have more supported or loving families. just how it is and well I do not see how one could sell their soul fo any reason even a religion, yet, that is me and my opinion.
well I am going to state some true facts and I dont care who believes them or not because I have a real heart and I truly know that the truth is hated and those who claim that the truth is false they claim it because they do know deep down inside its not false but realy true and for that I dont care who believs or not I just look deep into those deceiving eyes
fact about the soul and if it can be bought
1 fact the human soul is all things on earth and of earth
the winds the lands the seas and all the trees
2 if the soul cant ever be purchased then nothing on earth has ever been sold
3 if you sale your soul to the devil its somewhat of a lie because every ones soul belongs to the devil and always has how can you sale me what I realy am even gods soul is mine
4 you live it or lie it
Yep.. maturity is over rated.
Back on topic..
"If my soul be damned, then it is half off."
"1 fact the human soul is all things on earth and of earth
the winds the lands the seas and all the trees
2 if the soul cant ever be purchased then nothing on earth has ever been sold
3 if you sale your soul to the devil its somewhat of a lie because every ones soul belongs to the devil and always has how can you sale me what I realy am even gods soul is mine
4 you live it or lie it"
Where did you come up with this? or find it? And no we are the sole owners of our souls and can be done with as we want whether its selling it to a god or deamon.
Wow.. always coming up with a very interesting topic.
If this was a true fact and you could sell your soul.
What I wonder is are there any consequences for doing so?
where did I come up with this?
well its like one time I just said LET THERE BE LIGHT and then there was me.
dabbler if its half off maybe you should think about this
God and little devil are window shoping in the mall of lost souls so god says will half off what a deal and the little devil says pappa all the money in the world would not be able to pay for it because a soul that is half off in this mall cost much more and god says to little devil well what should we do?
and he says well if I dont play my 6 of hearts then you will turn it into my 6 of daimons then poof my best good card is up in smoke so I will make the shop keeper talk to the hand while you just take it and run ?
*rolls eyes*
oh brother.
I think as far as the Christian faith is concerned, God grants you life but the soul is yours to do with as you see fit. It is your soul which is judged upon death. If it were God's soul, you'd be granted entrance into Heaven without delay or reconciliation with your misdeeds.
Just my two cents.
judas sells out for silver in a bible story betraying jesus and feels like killing himself, later and does, i think it's linked to guilt that his life/soul was lost doing something he could not live with, there are many other similar examples
well just like takeing a good look at the branches of the vine looking truly you do see that the branches are the true vine and as the vine was betrayed for silver and the branch me ah killed my self and my tummy busted open as I hung on the tree and all my insides spilled out
truly I am every person in the bible and truly every other book in this world was made by words I like to smoke because I'm a real midnight toker
if you want to know more about selling your soul I found this article about it here.
its ok brother please feel better it was never your fault remember black and white please please stop runing and hexing just step inside love and be free dont live with the pain anymore ok money sun just do what you do if you heal all heal so dont give up just please find your selfs be blessed
Lycian that would be considered abtaining souls by pretense. Not purchase. Funny though.
I don't personally know of anyone that has supposedly "sold their soul" and isn't on heavy duty anti-psychotics and close to renewing their year round ticket to the rubber motel.
If I was asked to sell my soul..would I?...only if it was for my husband or children..other than that..for some ridiculous material possession or human want..then NO.
But to sell your soul... It isnt something i ever use, or anyone else could use for that matter so why not sell it for a material possesion?
What does make a person a individual is their soul. I do hope that when somebody does make the individual freewill to sell their soul, for the person to KNOW what they are doing.
In the great words of SS, Nuff Said.
yes but if the soul is to be kept until after death like i stated earlier... then what good would it do us?
Insteed of broken soul.. it would be "soul broker". I'll get you the best deal on a gentle installed soul.
And what about a - StockMarket " Soul Market " - and a - E'Bay " Soul Bay ".
How to sell the soul in one easy step, visit the following webpage (cynical joke here.): contractual agreement
An article brought to you, the audience, by the Weekly World News website:
You can have power, wealth, an attractive mate and virtually anything else you ever dreamed of – by selling your soul to Satan! But how?
You must know what you’re doing when you make the deal or Satan will cheat you blind. That’s the word from Dr. Rex Touth, expert on satanic rituals and author of How to Negotiate Unholy Contracts.
Dr. Touth cites cases dating all the way back to the 16th century in which humans have agreed to spend eternity in Hell when they die in exchange for earthly pleasures while they’re alive.
“Human history and world literature are teeming with stories like that of Germany’s Dr. Faustus who sold his soul,” says Dr. Touth. “Our own American statesman Daniel Webster once debated Satan in a landmark soul-selling case in which he renegotiated the contract and had it overturned.
“Thousands have gained riches and fulfilled their fantasies.”
Here are some tips from Dr. Touth on how you can take advantage of the same opportunity:
SET THE DEAL UP PROPERLY. There’s a right and wrong way to make contact with the Devil. The right way is to be alone in your room, close your eyes and say, “Satan, I summon you. I have a quality soul to sell if the price is right.” It may take dozens, even hundreds of tries but at all costs, avoid sounding desperate or needy. He’ll show up eventually.
DEAL FROM A POSITION OF POWER. By far the biggest mistake people make is to underestimate how badly Satan wants their soul. It’s like precious gold to him and he’ll pay anything to get it. When he appears, get him to make the first offer, then up it.
GET THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Remember, you’re going to burn in Hell forever. So no matter how badly off you are now, demand the best. For instance, even if you feel unlovable and desperate with loneliness, don’t just say, “I want the most gorgeous woman on earth and I want her to be madly in love with me.” Instead, add, “In fact, throw in 100 other women as well so I can pick and choose according to my mood.”
REMEMBER TO DEMAND THE LIFE-EXTENSION CLAUSE. Satan won’t tell you if you don’t ask but you can get a guarantee of 300 years of youthful life before you go to eternal damnation. Why enjoy a mere 75 or 80 years of reckless living when you can get 300?
Religious groups worldwide are trying to ban Dr. Touth’s book. “This kind of trash is spiritual dynamite,” says a spokesman for the North American Council of Churches and Synogogues. “We can’t, in good conscience, let people read how to destroy their almighty souls.”
But Dr. Touth says we should all be aware of the facts so we can make an informed decision. “It’s your soul,” he says. “Do what you want with it.”

Time shares with fabulously motivated souls, Intellectual souls, and Dark, and morbid souls.
Dab, what if I become a Republican, and my soul instantly loses 10% of its value (depending on the market)?
Will I get change back?
I have no idea if one even has a soul to sell and if they did sell it if the would get what they sold it for.
However if I could or would sell my soul it would only be for the well being of my son. There is nothing I wouldn't sacrifice for him.
Very very old wives tale indeed. I've never heard of any proof of selling a persons soul.
Me on the other hand, I would not sell my soul unless it was for a good cause like saving an innocent child or a family member but that's just me.
You cannot sell what you do not own. Your soul is already headed in a direction that is hidden from view.
My soul.... Nope not for sale. Someone has a lease on it anyway
I'll past on the "Klondike Bar" line and post this instead.
Hard not to sell your soul to your work at times.
Doru, what do you mean? You said:
You cannot sell what you do not own. Your soul is already headed in a direction that is hidden from view.
Who owns my soul, if not me? Are you suggesting Fate or Predeterminism?
You have many owners, yet when you look in the mirror you do not see one.
I have to ask, should a consumer of a soul, have a warrenty option?
Is a receipt needed for returns?
I imagine that Satan is a stickler for paperwork. It would go with the overall obsessive-compulsively bureaucratic theme of the underworld.
so... YES.
OK,Why would someone want your soul? I mean really whta are they gonna do with it? ...
just sounds like too much trouble to me .. so I guess I will keep it LOL
well why would I want to risk my "soul" when I can throw around/invest the "souls" of others?
That's a good thought but very wrong on so many levels. Why would you want to invest in someone elses soul? What would you gain but money? lol
Owning ones spirit or sould gives that individual power over your mind or even your body. It is an old Voodun legend.
Well hell who needs it after death? Why not get something out of it?
LOL Ok I see your point they want it so they can Barter with it , well hell thyey will have to wait till I am dead then. I am not giving it up easily . It is mine after all .. :)
hAIKU, IN SPECTULATION, AND HYPATHETICALS, there is no right, or wrong.. In all fairness, you should be aware that I am a non-theist. In metaphor though, my post fits a line of reasoning.. Hypathetical as the subject is.
that is true it is all hypathatical (sp) as to selling ones soul.
And I really got lost when i read iscaroit(sp) so you gave us light and you feel that the world owns our soulsor that is our souls, wow, Ok see I worked in the medical field for many a years and I always thought that the soul was apart of our Brian, due to the fact that once your brain dead the real you are no longer there.
So maybe we should sell our brains. I just think this is an old wives tale to scare us into religion ,being good etc.
I mean the chinese believe if you cut off their ponytail they cannot enter into heaven. / spirit world. so this can go anywhere actually as for selling a soul...
Gunslingers had a superstition that they needed to have silver coins upon their person when they died, "To pay the Fare at the River Stixx," though in actually it was so they could get a proper burial.
I was rised that you couldn't sell something that you didn't really own anyways. So I guess that leaves the rent or lease option. And since demons rarely ask for photo id ... hell, use your neighbor's name. :)
But this dealing with soul's thing was also one reason why many didn't like to offer their names to anyone. Know someones' real name and well, you can control them.
your right about the coins Dabbler many took the coins to give them proper burial. There also is a saying for a soldier as well when you bury them thye have 2 bullets one for the devil and one for themselves. My brother was buried with them and a gun crazy thing is my dad had removed hand gernades, knives etc. every night before we left the funeral home LOl yet, when the day of the funeral he put in the bullets and a gun.
People believe whatever they wanna believe.. I just try to respect their wishes is all.
sorry got off topic alittle
Everything I own or have in possession is for sale. The bigger question is what can I get for it? I have a beautiful, loving wife, healthy, intelligent kids, and a good paying job. What do I need more then a soul? Let me ponder on that!
Honestly there really isn't anything that I want that I would sell my soul for. I have the most precious thing to me in the world already, something I have wanted since I was very very little... and that would be my son...
Now if it meant to save his life, yes, I would sell my soul in a nano second
