*I thought that is article may be helpful for those with empathic abilities...whether you are vampyre or not - DominicAngelus*
Definition:
Grounding connects your energy to the earth in a stable, secure way. Ground to get rid of unwanted energy and take in clean, balanced energy. When you are well grounded, drawing energy through yourself is easier. Any time you are working with energy, grounding makes it easier.
Letting Go:
First, let go of all the tension you can, relax your shoulders, calm yourself, and focus on what you are doing. Bring your attention to the current time and place. Let all the active energy you have release, and any that you don't want drain down off of you into the earth. Slow down and take a deep calm breath.
Anchoring:
Extend your own energy down into the earth while keeping it also connected to you. Feel your energy as streamers or roots extending deep into the earth, as anchors. These roots balance your energy, so you're not dizzy, and they give and take energy to keep your overall level steady. When stressed, you may not anchor very well. Ground and stabilize your anchor to reduce the feelings of stress.
Releasing Negativity:
Drain your unwanted energy down through the anchors into the earth. The more strongly you anchor, the better your energy balance will be. More energy will flow through you smoothly, without feelings of tightness or nervousness.
COMMON PROBLEMS:
Question: I just don’t feel anything when I try to ground. Am I doing it? What’s happening?
Answer: Make sure you are relaxed, not scared and not feeling defensive. Gently and playfully, reach toward the Earth with your feelings. If you are tense or scared, you won’t connect very well. If you feel defensive, you will hold your energy in and stop it from flowing to the ground. You must share your energy generously with the enviroment, and accept it’s energy connection to you.
Question: I am relaxed, and I think I might have grounded. How do I know if it worked?
Answer: Trust yourself. Look at how you are feeling. Do you feel connected and stable, or dizzy and uncertain? When you are strongly grounded, you will feel more confident and calm. Trust what you feel.
Question: I can ground for a moment, but then it slips away. How can I keep it there?
Answer: Practice. Notice how you feel when you are grounded. Then notice how you feel just as it starts to slip. Focus on staying stable and letting lots of energy flow between you and the earth. As you start to feel grounded, slide in deeper and more stable. Stay relaxed; don’t let the excitement of success stop you from enjoying the feeling and staying grounded.
Summary:
1. Let go of old energy and tension
2. Anchor to the ground
3. Balance your energy
Success:
1. You can feel when you are grounded or not.
2. You can ground when you decide to.
3. Your grounding is stable, strong, and relaxed.
4. You can stay grounded for at least 5 minutes comfortably.
lol
I was already planning on doing that before bed tonight, whenever I make it to my room! I didn't know that it's called "grounding."
I am glad this article has been helpful and informative. ;)
excellent post!!!! for an emapth grounding is also a very effective way to quickly and harmlessly channel away unwanted/negative energy from those around you
Great post, it describes the process very well. This is something my mother taught me to do at a very young age, but I always have a hard time describing the process to others.
Very nice. A simple grounding, to be sure, but very useful. Just be sure not to take too much energy. You'll feel overly full or disoriented. If you do take too much, try to give some back, or eat some natural food. It balances you.
Empathy is a great gift, if you know how to develop it and how to control it! If not, it is a real curse!
Very informative. I need to research this abit more online. Where did you find this?
very interesting and could be very helpfull in a stressfull situation
Its much easier and healthier for me to do it during a full moon where I draw alot of my power from.
The Vernal and Autumn Equinoxes greatly affect many vampire's psychic and physical health, which are the days of equal light and dark in nature.
Likewise, there is a certain amount of focus that many vampires need to devote to balance the light and dark aspects of their abilities, personalities, and general health.
Thank you, Dom...
This is exactly what I needed to know.
am glad so many do this or got alot from this / in my yoga practice I incorporate this every day. I also love placing my back against a tree and just letting it realign my energies..great after a stressful day if you have a good tree nearby....
I am pleased that this article is helping you. Let me know how it works out for you. OK? ;)
I'll see if I can find one about centering...
Grounding and centering go hand in hand. You cannot stay grounded without being centered.

Once you ground it is always a good idea to also center.
Centering- The process in which one begins by relaxing the entire body starting at the toes and working up to the head. Once relaxed become conscious of your breathing, breathing peace and relaxation in and tension and negativity out. This basically means becoming one with yourself and letting go of all troubles and stress.
These to things work hand and hand with one another although they sound quite a bit the same.
i have been told this befor and the only thing i could add is the the person trying this should be in a safe place and should feel very comfortable when trying this
Centering, another word for 'finding the calm and spirit within yourself', is a very important part of doing any sort of work whether spiritual, magical or creative. There are so many things happening at once in our lives that sometimes we lose track of the very nature of our being amidst the chaos. Telephones ring, responsibilities abound, and it's hard to think about only one thing at a time while our senses are being bombarded. How do we get to that calm place within? By breathing, feeling and listening. It's that simple. Once you learn how, you can centre yourself wherever you may be: a train on your way to work, at the office, in your car. All it takes is a moment. You can do it with your eyes wide open as well as closed. It will clear your mind of extraneous thought and allow you to open up to the situation at hand, whatever it may be.
Why is it so important? When we do anything which comes from ourselves like magic, divination, prayer or art, our intentions must be clear and free from outside interference. We must be able to fully listen to our inner voice in order to be in tune with our own truth and, in so doing, in tune with our higher selves. We are so influenced by other people and by our surroundings, that sometimes knowing how WE feel about a situation is a chore at best. Centering allows us to reconnect with our inner selves in order to better understand how we, as unique individual spirits, feel and think within. Once we do this, we are of course better able to help others since our intentions will be clear and our minds will be focused on tasks and issues at hand.
How do we begin to centre ourselves? Here is a short centering exercise which you can tailor to suit your needs. Remember: while driving or doing anything which requires you to stay alert, be realistic. Don't close your eyes for goodness' sake! Instead, concentrate on your breathing.
Centering Exercise:
1. Close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply and evenly.
2. Become aware of how each breath makes your body feel and how the air moves through your body, giving it both energy and strength.
3. Listen to your breathing and feel how, in so doing, you feel calm and light.
4. Continue to breathe in and out, letting go of any fear, worry or thought which clouds your inner vision or which makes you uncomfortable. Try to block out any extraneous thought and concentrate on the quiet place within yourself where only YOU matter.
5. Continue this exercise until you feel that you have connected with that centre, that quiet place wherein lies your truth and your clarity of thought.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed or cannot quite find the words to express yourself in a given situation, centre yourself. You will find it an invaluable life exercise which will open new doors to understanding yourself and others.

Thanks for adding to my centering post. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to really go into it. I had hoped someone would.
I want to thank everyone who is adding additional info and useful tips. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
No problem, its really hard to maintain being grounded without being centered.
Very good exercises for stressing times, I've actually tried many of these and the feel great, and they always help me before undertaking big projects or when i'm about to give speech or an oral report.
