Has anyone else noticed the extreme governmental influence on Disney movies?
For example, the Lion King. In this movie Scar, in something of exile since his brother Mufasa was named King of Pride Rock instead of him, rallies the Hyenas to his cause. To those who don't know of the food chain between these two mammals, the hyena will constantly lose meals to the lions thus making them enemies.
Scar creates an army of Hyena's and attacks Pride Rock slowly but surely. He leads the simple minded creatures in an epic coup of the leo monarchy. He takes control and rules viciously for several years. After a while though, he is brought back down to his place, under the hell of the kings boot.
Now replace Scar with Anarchists and The King with the American Government. Do you see it?
The Lion King is a brainwashing tool to teach kids that Anarchy will lead to nothing but pain, sorrow and death.
Please leave your thoughts on this topic! ^-^
P.S. Is this where this thread should be? Or is it supposed to be in The Cat Box?
Were we to toss a coin? I closed the Sandbox thread for you. We'll see what develops here. Disney has been a source for a few things besides brainwashing so maybe something may prove interesting.

Could have sworn that threads of a political nature were not allowed, regarding the TOS.
We will see...
I was curious as to that when I posted, which is why I asked if I should put it in the Cat Box. Of course, if I need apologize and back away from this on this site, then I will.
My question to you would be... What does conspiracy have to do with anything? Anarchist vs Government has always played an extreme role throughout society.
I would have thought that the subliminals in the movie would be to cause fear instead of instigation of violence.
What made you post a thread of this nature? What is your main point that you are trying to focus on?
Political topics are off limits anywhere in the open forums but Disney topics are fine. Depends on where this goes I guess.
I was trying to focus on the fear aspect but I haven't slept for a while. lol.
I was thinking that this may lead to a discussion of how the fear of being different has forced so many into hiding not only their religious beliefs but their sexual orientation and political standing as well. And all of it started with the disney movies that we were given to watch as children.
Okay, a debate on semantics.
What makes you draw your conclusion that those ideals of yours have been implanted as children, with Disney of all topics?
By the by, before you continue I would like to point out that the parental figure should have instilled the fear idea into the childrens head before Disney even picked up on the thought. What the parents believe in, so may the children.
I think we are giving the government, or media advertising such as Disney storylines, too much credit for what ails us.
To shed further light on this topic, since you brought up the religious conotation, the true subliminal was to bring out a "God" vs "anti-christ" scenerio to analogy for the Lion King movie.
Simba being "Jesus" and scar being the anti-christ. Though this is just my perspective if this debate is about subliminals and brainwashing anecdotes of fear.
The first lion king was an animal remake of a famous shakespeare play. I can't remember if it was hamlet or mcbeth as I'm not big on shakespeare, but it was one of the two. No brainwashing involved, just how the story goes.
great train of thought but stretching Disney who was a pacifist
it's not based on American politics; it's a re-telling of Shakespeare's Hamlet with animals.
But I am not so sure about the Flinstone Bunch.. something to do with our politics in the Middle East.. I have already implicated myself to much.. do the math people.. the answers are there..
Throwing my two cents on a different angle. As a former Disney castmember, meeting Disney Family and also meeting castmembers who write or concept the stories as it were.....politics are rarely involved. The Disney family are actually quite progressive. They are also rarely wishing to rock the boat.
I think some will see whatever they want to see where ever they want to see it. If that that said I have never noticed anything about Disney movies but entertainment.
WOW, I just thought it was a great cartoon folks, hmmmm, we are reading way too much into absolutely nothing but a great cartoon for kids, that teachs the good guy wins and the bad guy dont......Hello?????
There's a difference between anarchy and revolution. Our country is founded on revolution. Disney is founded on capitalism, entertainment and fantasy. Subliminal messages through cartoons and children's programming is always a possibility, and apparently has been done. The messages were mainly sexual in nature.
I don't think that disney is big into the allegory. The stories that they "rework" are, but I think that disney more cares about rehashing a familiar story than the wisdom behind it.
Thestories often use archtypes to tell the story... insert historical figure for archetype and you have propaganda. I cannot see this as the Disney objective...
I would be more concerned about other Disney holdings... media... now there is a tool for contolling the population. I remember CNN reporting how Desert Storm wiped out all the Scud Launchers... and a day or two later seeing a scud fly into the city I lived in.
Serriosly... I thought this Thread was going to be about the uses of Valerian. *laughs*
BTW... I can't see how anarchy fits into the scar thing. I supose if I looked at it crosseyed, then shut one, while standing on my head... I'd be able to see it through the reflection of my sickle... but I think it is a bit of a stretch.
I did not see the movie, but I guess many things in fiction, including Disney portray some metaphoric truth.
The good guy wins over the bad guy, that's the idea I was brought up with, pity that in real life, more than half of the time it's the opposite.
The Lion King mashed a couple historical images/plot lines together, the most notable being a plot based on Hamlet and using Nazi-like imagery to jar the senses. I really don't think it's a subliminal plot engineered to turn the child masses into hordes of infantry (Ha! to lighten the mood, enjoy this shiny little pun...) or cowardly sheeple, but a clever marketing ploy using a successful/recognizable story line and knowingly evocative imagery set to an infectious, exotic beat with a side of cute animals and bright colors to spice up the mix. Blend together and instant classic.
Every movie that you see, if you put any tough into, you will be making connection between the subject of the movie and any subjects created by your mind, can be Government, Animal cruelty, Medicine etc. Yes, for so many people, the Government is involved in the brainwashing syndrome, with the purpose of controlling their people. U.S.A. is not the exception. Like so many already said, we can not respond to this thread, without touching politic and politic is forbidden by the Prince.
I would look at video game. they desensitize kids to violence. They train them in modern warfare tactics ansd equipment. Why spend 1millions on training a piliot instead put out a $20 video game that logs pilot hours and teaches the same manuvers by game.
yeah...it couldnt just be that kids enjoy the competition of military games, and that they are fun.
if little kids are forbidden toy guns, they often will pick up sticks and pretend (i did). if the sticks are forbidden, then they point their fingers and go bang bang.
as freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
~W~
Isnt it funny how any program for kids seems to be bad. I think we are becoming to correct in our lives and look for things that can cause trouble or incorrect.
Disney has always been for kids let it be just that.
We have a kids program in Australia called Humprey B Bear. Humprey wears a shirt but no pants and now ppl kick up a stick and say it should be taken off air because of it. We cannot call Fairy Penguins, Fairy Penguins anymore. I believe we have taken things to far.
Let the programs be what they are....kids programs, and thats all.
i completely agree...we are being trained to walk on eggshells with everything we say no matter how well intended.
if there is brainwashing going on, i would look to the media...tv, movies, music....
for me, i think im going to be politically incorrect and watch some bugs bunny now!
~W~
People will even read conspiracy analogies into Bugs Bunny-wow, are we turning into super paranoia's or what?
Okay, I got my 14, 9 and 5 yr old kids to watch the film then asked them the same question
reply blank looks
so I asked them it in simple terms
again
blank looks oh and one reply of its just a film dad
Case Closed!!!
Of course I did think when I first read the title of the thread that we were going to discuss some kind of brainwashing vegetation (plant)
The stuff in Disney movies is to subtle to be brain washing, as LordBaalNox showed with the "expirament" on his children, it is a movie, nothing more.
When kids see it it is entertainment, when one person starts screaming conspracy then the adults jump on the bandwagon.
Presonaly the "extras" that the animators put in from time to time are much more interesting and entertaining.
Kids dont look into things as far as we as adults do. To them it is just tv, a book or a movie etc etc. It is us adults that think programs and books are brainwashing our children.
I remember watching a cartoon as a kid called Kimba the White Lion. They bought it back on when my kids where babies. They changed it so much from the cartoon I watched. From a male voice to a female, took out all the fight scenes (Kimba was about fights, he was protecting his domain).
I think as far as Brainwashing goes it isnt the kids getting affected it is us .
Wow, I had not ever thought of Disney as anything but fun movies and also learning that you should stand up for yourself, and just the whole fun side of them. I guess people see things however they want to when watching them.
I know children are very aware of *bad things* these days so why pick on the things they enjoy, that actually show them how to be stronger and do right and not wrong. I mean like the movie The Kid by Disney with Bruce willis, my granddaughter loves that movie, she was like he learned to enjoy life again ... and she is 6.
I guess I am not cynical enough to think they are Brainwashing us with Disney movies and cartoons I just enjoy them.
i just watched g force...yes...the fbi were the good guys...but arent the cops supposed to be the good guys, and the bad guys supposed to be....well...bad guys?
~W~
the government tries to brainwash us all the time and of course they will use subliminal methods, its effective.
i personally prefer anarchy and chaos compared to the oppressive order and control of the government.
to me anarchy is freedom.
its freedom right up until someone steps forward and takes control. then there is order again, and freedom leaves.
govt is a necessary evil...but only a minimal government (such as the founders envisioned). i think ill stop there as i dont want to get political...and i really dont wish to do that here.
~W~
Government and rules are needed or people would kill anyone they choose alot more than they do now. We have a limited freedom and In the USA we have more Freedom than most countries and we also have more violence than other countries. I mean we are still a young country trying to ensure freedom with order and not be under a thumb so to speak rules.
I know if there were no laws or any order there would be more Chaos and killings etc.
The freedom comes with a price in many different forms, such as freedom of speech yet... you can also be sued for being so free with your speech, such as Slander, and demaning conduct to ones personl self. Me that one always pisses me off. I mean if I want to tell someone they are a bitch or anything I feel that is true about them to the world I should not be sued or anything for doing so. It is a catch 22 and the wuzzies always fall on the laws to get back at a person.
Yet, sometimes they need to arrested etc. Like restaraining orders against a person, well they are just a way to make money off the puplic, because unless the person comes around you they cannot do anything yet, they can call and harras you, and when they do come near you your lready shot or whatever before the cops can even do anything so why the hell spend any money on one.. LOL it just all in how one looks at freedom and brainwashing for real.
I am done cause boy can I get legal and political and we do not want to do that here LOL
Great thread tho'
It is easy to blame a government. All they do is make a law and ppl take it a mile.
The problem is there are to many do gooders out there and they want to change things. Instead of asking the public they just make the changes and blame it on being politicly correctness.
When it comes down to the crunch, we are all capable of brainwashing others and in some aspects we do do it at time....'hey smoking is great you should try it'' çome on one more drink etc etc....except we dont call that brainwashing we call it perpressure.
I don't think that there are to many do gooders, all some of them want is attention.
Take a look at all of the politician/activists.
(Points to Al Gore)
Doctor I was not blaming it all on the government, I was jsut using it as an example. because as you say we all can brainwash , manipulate etc. people and we do it every day as peer pressure.
Yet, I just do not see how Disney movies are a part of it but I do not look at them in that light at all. so it is up to each as to how they perscieve things
