I keep hearing stuff like the moovie queen of the dahmed was based on real vampiric history and I also hear its not. I dint know what to believe. Can anyone help me and say if it is or not, or if they can direct me toward vampire history.
Read books..just stay away from the fiction section. No, Queen of the Damned is based on no real vampire history. I'll suggest "Vampire : The Complete Guide to the World of the Undead" by Manuela Dunn Mascetti for starters. You'll find some useful stuff in there.

All i can say is that no that movie was not it was fiction based upon a foicitonal character in a fictional book...just stick to reading histories and searching for any information you can find on your own.
I must agree, stay away from the fictional section of books, and no movies. You'll never find any answers in that rubbish. There good for mind teasers and entertainment but thats about it.
Some movies may accuratelt hit one and im saying maybe one fact otherwise they are all worhtless unless you want entertainm, ent or amusement.
The True history pre-dates recorder history...You have to look for deeper sources...
no it was not based on real history,do your research and you will find the truth,it is just a movie!!
not only is the book based on NO real history, it didnt even stay true to the book it was loosly supposed to be based on
I have to agree with Vincent on this...
So if it is true, which it is not then what you are asking is Akasha the first vampire...
Like it is stated there is no real evidence who the first vampire is or was..
Some say
Lilith
Some say
Caine
I am sure some say others fill this esteemed spot.
It would be crazy to try and establish a fact that pre dates any recorded records.
It would be as futile as asking if God created everything, then who created God?
Logic stands that if everything is created then nothing would exsist in the universe as the ultimate creator would never have been created.
No my friend it is easier to accept something than try to establish its origins
The first ever record of vampire active movement was back in 1047 in a document referring to a Russian Prince as "Upir Lichy" or wicked Vampire!
Movies are fun to watch but if you beleive in the and think they had somthing to do with history then your not looking in the right place but some times you may get lucky if you get the right 1 basing on some truth but not vewry close at all.
well if you want the vampiric histor od dracula you should research the original count...it is still said that the count survives to this day in romania and is hiding untill the day where he can come forward but most of it is ledgend...if you want to know the history of what is passed off as fiction READ THE BOOK dont watch the movie because they completely changed the true history...personally i believe that lestat is real and anne rice is the face of the chronicles...but its personal oppinion...no-one knows the truth though...
Except for Ann Rice..who is very surprised to find that out right..lol.

I have to say, it's unnerving to see some of you support this film as if it were fact. Vincent was right in saying that the movie is nothing like the book..so even if you believed that there is nothing of interest there. Anne Rice is an author of fiction..saying she's a face for something bigger sounds like a Roswell conspiracy..and I don't buy it. And as for looking "deeper". History is not history unless it is recorded.."man is the measure of all things". I do not believe in Akashic records(no, it has nothing to do with the character)..so I can't support anything further than going to the library and making use of Amazon. :)

There is a vampiric history that very few seem to know of,
it's the history of the Turelim.
This offers a possible history to vampires and even why we are unable to find proof of their existence.
i will put as much of this history as possible on a website.
i'll inform you when it is done.
Lestatlover...Can you show me where you get this fact about Vlad Tepes from....All evidence that I have read upon Vlad the Impaler leads to the fact that he is very much dead
Like the rest said:It was fiction.
Prolly you heard it was based on an Anne Rice's book.
On a fiction book that for some people is the bible.
And it didn't even stay true to the book LOL!!!!
Some of these books/movies have bits of real vampiric history in them, but the writers probably have no idea. I never saw Queen of the Damned, but from what I gather, it has nothing to do with real vampiric history.
most movies are fake, sorry sweetie...but, to find real history, try talking to a vampire
That wouldn't be too hard, being one myself. There are subtle bits of real history accidentally put in some of these movies. Most likely from coincidence.
Oops. Sorry. Tired. I thought for a second that you were responding to me.
I would recommend researching the Book Of Enoch. Download my article entitled, "Vampires According To Enoch." I believe that you might find it an interesting read.
Vampires According to Enoch_Updated.doc
The story of the Turelim is actually based on an RPG game and does not contain any true vampire history.
...a very interesting topic...
...there are few spots in history here and there...but i think the most common is the Vlad the Impaler legend...thats most likely where the "Dracula" story started from...but not necessarily vampires as per se...
queen of the damned is not a real vampire history tale it is fake the best places to find out more on vampire history is just read more books
No one can be 100% sure about this topic it's something we've been discussing it for al ong time but thais is for sure:Queen of the Damned is not real.
Vlad the Impaler is where the darcula story originates.
His Father was in the Order of the Dracul. He also became known as dracul for this.
Vlad Tepes {Vlad the Imapler} was named after his father there for becomeing known as Dracula which means Son of Dracul.
It also meant devil so he became known to his enemy by the son of the Devil.
Although in none of my research does it ever imply that he is rumored to still live.
His death and ways of death are very well documented.
As far as immortality, Vlad's legend certainly lives! Thanks for the mention of literature I will be sure to check it out.
domangelus,
if the RPG you refer to is the Legacy of Kain series then you are wrong.
The similarities between the Turelim history and that game series is due to the games being based on vampiric histories.
other such legends are also inclueded in the game.
I am actualy offended that you say the legends of the Turelim are based on a game.
I would suggest the Four Book Set of The History of the Vampire in Western Civilization by Sir Winston Tiberious Churchfang
try to stay away from popular hollywood movies for even ones who have a basis of truth do get obscured in the telling
I must agree, movies and fictional stories won't get you anywhere.Unless it is a documentory, you aren't going to get any ture info.alot of vamp info, isn't recorded as Enigma stated, but you can find some, and you can also find some under other text such as, demonology, and ancient european cultures. Try looking under ancient romania for some of it. Lengends begin as facts, they are just stories about those facts that over time have grown into other things.
Razel, you have stated your offence to my comments. Before you take anything I said personally, realize that YOU failed to share any useful information or resources pertaining to the Turelim history of vampires. I am a person with an open mind, but I need credible resources in order to finalize any conclusions. Everything that I have researched about the Turelim leads to RPG's, video games, and fictional fantasy books. Steer me to some good information and if I am wrong, I am big enough to admit it. I look forward to hearing from you again.
~Dominic Angelus~
domangelus,
if you bothered to ask me anout the Turelim you would know that i am in the process of creating a website about the Turelim.
wen it is done (or atleast usable) i will inform you.
remember than most vamp stuff in media originates somewhere else.
the RPG stuff is based on Turelim legend and other stuff and i'm tired of saying this to people who are too lazy too look further than the first 2 or 3 websites on a Google search!
*smirks* There is no need to get so pissy. I am neither lazy nor directing sarcasm towards YOU. Patience is necessary when instructing others in something that may not lean towards common knowledge. I will be more than happy to take a look at your research material as it becomes available.
Don't forget that I expressed an open-mind and a willingness to learn of this alternative view to the origins of vampires. Let's not make this a personal issue. I will not resort to petty squabbles, but will take the time further educate myself on the topics at hand.
domangelus,
i don't mean to get petty or to agrue,
it's just that i often find people acusing me of taking my beleifs from fiction.
i will do my best to get that site up asap.
Razel, I completely understand your frustration. If anything, I am glad that it's compelling you to get your information up soon. I will be studying it with great interest. ^^V^^
Rayden a good book to look into is Vampires, Death and Burial. it is the best book so far that I have found on vampires. Not full of fiction like Anne Rice and Poppy Z. Brite and people like that write. Anne Rice's books as good as they are are works of fiction, which means they are made up stories. So to answer your question Queen of the Damned did not really exist in history and neither did Lestat, etc.. :)
A noteworthy tip is to stay away from authors who primarily write fictional vampire stories. Read material from credible authors who explain in detail where they received or developed their teachings.
Maybe research of Bible may took some writings about beginnings of vampires..
There are so many posts, all saying the same things...Truly we can agree that there are many different wars, and histories that go along with them? Them also can there not be more than one truthful vampire history? This is not a subject to argue who is wrong or who is right. Hopefully all of us are mature and empathetic about other's ideas and points of view. So that we can look upon each entry with open minds and a hunger for knowledge. For a starved mind can weild no weapon, and a stupid man has but himself to blame.
no humens ar eable to record vamp hist. and im still trying to find out more about it as i go on thank you for your time
Those who do know are seldom willing to give that information out. Coudn't say why.
If you want a good site for vampiric history that has reasearch backing it check this out. http://www.clanofthecats.com/mythos/b-vampires.html
and the QOTD being based on any thing. I vagly remember a myth on a goddes not vampire named akasha she was a goddess of either destruction or death something like that I will look it up and post on it later
Any suggestions on the best book that contains vampire history?
i would suggest a series of books called the saga of darren shan, now it may be in the 'fiction section' but the book says is based on true stories and events, however may seem to be un-believable as it talks about witchcraft and dimension switching to.....
SamaraSylvan, I'm not sure of the authenticity of that website. Not only does it only speak of undead vampires, it groups Vlad Dracul in with them.
