To step away from the normal style of post, done by myself, I would like to just bounce a few questions around.
1. Disregarding EMO’S (a breed that is old as the Vampyre itself), when did the Gothic movement and Vampyre Gathering; end up being one and the same in classification?
2. Who joined whom, was it the Goths that blended their way into Vampyre life style or the other way around?
3. With regard to Wiccan’ry spells, some are viewed to drain energy from a target, while others are to increase energy within one self. Could these be a form of Vampyrism?
4. Although fictional, the creatures The Wraith (Stargate Atlantis), do you believe they would be the ultimate Worrier Guardians of the Vampyre Gathering? Or could there already be a rouge army of psy Vamps out there?

Take some time to ponder these before answering. And feel free to start a new research thread on any of these questions.

Cheers

Thank you
MasochisticDoll
I have read other post on some of these and they were ruther general, without the depth needed for true understanding of such things.

I do hope that the members read all the replies to this thread before they post, as there are a number of noteworther members on this site, who's responces are very very informative to those here wishing to gain a better perspective of issues.
cheers

And I think can answer the first one.

Most ptobabbly it's cause the media made it seam that vampires and goths are similar, with moves and fictioal books.

For me they're two different things.

I'm not awake enough at the moment to put much thought into a reply, but I thought it would be helpful to point out that in the first question, he said DISREGARDING Emos. The question nor the thread has nothing to do with emos.

It's my belief that if there were a rogue army of psy vamps out there the real vapmires would know about it. On the other hand an army of wraths would have it's advantages in the protection the vampire covens.

Thank you ~ToiletDuc~

I was once told that a true wiccan must be either a white or black witch, but could never be both at once.

i bring this piont up only as i see the draining of energy through a spell as black, and to recharge ones energy through a spell as white.

i would like some more input on this though.

cheers

since the others are answering the ones they have an opinion on, i'll do the same....

did goths blend into vampires, or the other way around.

i don't think either blending into the other to be exact... i think it's more along the lines of they evoloved close together and took on some of the same cultural aspects. i mean, if someone is goth then a vampire is going to be intersting to them, and a vampire will be more drawn to them. there are simularities between the two, even before the culture changes them.

1. Disregarding EMO’S (a breed that is old as the Vampyre itself), when did the Gothic movement and Vampyre Gathering; end up being one and the same in classification?

MY ANSWER:

well the gothic movement is an offbranching of the punk movement from the mid-late 70's
so after then it must have been.

2. Who joined whom, was it the Goths that blended their way into Vampyre life style or the other way around?

MY ANSWER:

I think it went a little both ways...the goth scene formed around darker art and romanticism, while the vamp scene shifted more into this at around the same time

3. With regard to Wiccan’ry spells, some are viewed to drain energy from a target, while others are to increase energy within one self. Could these be a form of Vampyrism?

MY ANSWER:

In my opinion of what a vampire is....anything which is an energy leech would therefore by technicality be a vampire, so leeching or transferring energy is vampirism of a sort...but I don't beleive that you must be either a black witch or a white witch....I don't go in for colors..it is what you use it for which determines, not what you make claims that you are

Goths and vampires merge so closely because many people start out their path into darkness (note: darkness. Not evil. Simply. . . the natural dark) by becoming at least a little gothic in their formative years. And hollywood hasn't helped anything. I'd say that neither group decided to become the other, but that they both naturally moved closer to each other. As to questions 3 and 4? I don't know enough to answer them yet.

very well put ~Daermon~ i agree with your view, that a side to wicca, has no real meaning when looking as to what a spell is truely used for.

There are no Wiccan spells that would drain energy from a person. 'An Harm None, Do What Thou Wilt' This is the creed that Wiccans live by. Draining someone of their energy would be harming that person. There is a name for that though. Its called Psychic Vampirism. Wiccans and other Magickal folk train to shield against this.

Energy is exactly the same as blood. The more you take the weaker the giver gets, and the stronger the reciever gets as well, so yes in that aspsect, wiccan'ry can be considered as a form of vampirism

I am wiccan and I have been for 5 years. I have preformed spells. I agree with RavenWytch wicca is not a form of Vampyrism at least to me it isn't. Some may disagree, but look at the Wiccan Rede as RavenWytch said " Eight Words the Wiccan rede fulfill. And you harm none, do what you will." But as I said this is only my opinion.

My Answers

1 - I feel foolish for asking… but EMO? Obviously an anachronisms I’m unfamiliar with.

2 – I’d say it’s a “Hollywood” driven thing. However I do also think the Whitewolf games of the 80-90’s also went quite some way in popular culture to changing the “Nosferatu” image of Vampies into a “sexed up” image instead, which the Gothic Subculture subsumed. Add to this Blade, Witchblade, etc, and there is a general “Sexing up of the dark side” plus the generic “Good girls get what they want on their birthday, Bad girls get it all the time” sort of subculture which threads its way through out the concept of sexy rebels.

The Vampire in pop culture is the ultimate “bad guy” who lives in the dark, commits sins against God, ignores the rules, Kills with impunity, and is generally perceived as a Naughty Boy.

Mind you, most (if not all) the Goths I know fit under the “perky goth” image anyway, wearing as much day glow pink and Tigger Imagery as they do long black coats and eye liner!

To answer your question, Neither, I’d instead see it as a partially externally driven synergy of two Superficially similar subcultures.

3 – There are Wiccan rituals and other particular energy manipulations (Reiki, Sekchem (sp), etc) which will allow you to “Siphon off” energy, however given the creedo of “Do no harm” it should only be done with the individuals permission, either in a trade of some form, or to remove an over abundance of energy in one area.

4 – Stargate, now your talking! Well where the Wraith are to my mind definitely a PsyVamp they are also highly destructive, I am often reminded of the tales of when the Amerindians first settled and wiped out a large proportion of the huge game animals, almost destroying themselves in the process before getting a grip on their joint responsibility for joint survival and having learnt, prospered (shame the same could not be said of the white settlers much later on). As for a “rogue Army”… I ain’t sayin’ nuffink right!

On a separate note, “Black” and “White” wicca….. tripe. No such thing exists. The abilities and rituals exists, you use them for positive or negative actions, either way the actions are a result of an individuals choice in how to use the gifts they have rather then any external “good/evil” label applied to the art by others.

(Caveat, I’m Druidic, not Wiccan, but I know plenty, and have read plenty, and Crowley has a lot to answer for, and when I meet him he will!!)

I'll take a 'stab' at question 1)

The gothic culture and the vampire culture have often gravitated towards the same affectations. Things like dark clothes, moody lighting, pale skin. These tend to play in both cultures rather heavily though not exclusively.

The start of the gothic movement was a branch extending from the punk / new wave movement in the late 70's / early 80's. The biggest defining factor that truly separated goths was the influence of horror movies and vampire stories as a model for the fashion and quite often, the music. It's only natural that something with such a similar affinity would begin to merge. From a vampire standpoint, it would make for a fantastic 'cover' or 'adopted family' since the goth movement is much more public and accepted than vampirism while still maintaining enough of an underground subculture style as to be open minded to the ranks of vampires in their midsts.

Druidic - thanks for putting that druid question to bed...I didn't know you were wiccan.
