how do you describe what type of wiccan are you? are you a spiritual, nature, chanter? tell me what you think and your thoughts on others.
Greetings! I'll start this one off...
I am a solitary witch that follows the Celtic path. (mainly because of ancestry but also because it feels the most comfortable) I do think that being in nature, outdoors, helps me in my workings as I always seem to get an energy boost from being out doors. I perform full moon rituals, spells when needed, and celebrate the four greater sabbats, Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh. I do use the four elements in my workings as well.
So...who's next!?
I am also solidarity Wiccan. I believe all things have a soul, not just people, but also animals and plants. I give thanks to every plant and animal that I eat. I thank it for giving me substance to continue to live. All my rituals are performed outside, even in rain and snow. Being closer to the Earth, gives me strength to perform the ritual. I use 5 elements instead of 4. Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Spirit. I also use crystals and charms.
I am an initiate and elder of a California based tradition that has it's roots in British Traditional Witchcraft. My tradition celebrates both the older fire festivals, Samhain, Candalmas, Beltaine, and Lughnasadh and the solstices and equinoxes, Yule, Ostara, Litha, and Mabon. Our circles begin with the Spiral Dance which was where Starhawk learned about it. Our esbats are held on the full moon and are skyclad rituals done by covens of the tradition. Each coven has a a high priestess and high priest who are the elders who lead the group. We worship the Triple Goddess and the Horned God. Our sabbats are held in public for the community, and are robed, and are open to whomever wishes to participate. Our traditions magick is raised by a cone of power which is directed by the priest/ess in the centre of the circle and is usually directed to healing any and all who are in need. Our tradition started in the mid sixties and so we have many initiates who are the children of of those who were involved forty years ago.
Personally my practice of witchcraft is mixed with other magickal traditions, including chaos magick and Thelema.
I follow the Gardenian tradition of witchcraft, which is similar to Wicca.
I am not Wiccian. It doesnt matter where I am or what I am doing.I require no ritual or impliments to do what I do.
I 'm Solitary and not a Wiccan , I do not like that term , I call myself what I am A witch. I do my practice the way I want to , I can either use tools or not it is up to me.they are not really needed.
I consider myself a solitary green witch (to put a label on it). I don't particularly call upon any particular deities, but instead respect and call upon nature's energies to assist me.
I am not Wiccan I am Solitary Pagan. I do not really have a set tradition that I follow. More of less, I go with what feels right to me. I lean more towards, Kemetic (Egyptian) Celtic and Native American Traditions. As The main deity that I work with is Bast The Egyptian Cat Goddess.
I have explored many other traditions and none of them really felt right to me. I work with what is around me. All of the elements found in nature.
I,ve been studying under the Fellowship of Isis and Sophia for quite a while , and hopefully getting ordained as a priestess at Yule . We honor all the usual days of power and meet up for the moot on every full moon . I love the moots , we spend alot of time chin wagging and getting to know each others skills and practices . We,re encouraged to follow the liturgy but also honor our own god's and goddesses in the way we see fit . I will be ordained to Hypnos ( god of sleep ) , Morpheus (god of dreams ) and Nyx ( goddess of the night ) . I,am very much on my own path and try to assimilate information from as many sources as possible .
I,am also a Bandraoi ( Druidess ) , i do the degrees but have little to with the Order of Genesis . I do love the history ( what little of it there is ) of the Druids and the fact that it,s the spiritual root for the Celtic mythology . I used to lean heavily toward the Celtic gods and goddesses , but have moved toward the Greek Parthenon as i feel there's gods and goddesses there that i can more closely attain a sympathetic link with .
Most of my deep studies are done on my own as i feel they should be . My solitary work uses no tools or rituals , it,s mostly concerned with astral working so everything is achieved through will and thought . This is the way i like it . Working with groups of mostly females i sometimes feel like i,am studying bitch-craft , but i do learn alot from others , so it,s not all bad
Solitary Witch/Pagan I try to follow the sabbats when I can thats all
i always thought of wicca as being the more new age neo practices and never could get into the whole fluff bunny thing but i am fond of the older celtic airts, old world paganism has always been something that caught my eye
Wicca is a relative term. I never use spells, or tools of any kind.....nor do I use the elements. They use me, for I am their medium. Being born on All Hallows Eve, 8 minutes til midnite, as a natural Warlock, is all I need to know. The rest comes naturally.
Currently I am a 2* Georgian Trad Witch.
The Georgian Trad does not have initiatory lineage back to Gardner, therefore, I am not a, "Wiccan".
I have also studied Satanism, Thelema, and a tad bit of the GD.
And a warlock is NOT a male witch. A warlock is an oathbreaker, a deceiver, an enemy of a Witch. I definitely wouldn't be boasting that around a thread like this.
Sorry to be blunt, but I am sick and tired of hearing all the horse squable about warlock this and warlock that when no one is educated enough to know what the hell it is.
I suppose I'd call myself a shaman, or a spirit walker. I explore and experience all kinds of mysticism and commune with and for nature. That's really the idea of all paganisms, so that may not necessarily be different in any way. But still. It's great fun
i once was a wiccan but after learning more of its history, it just wasnt right for me anymore.
i became asatru (the old germanic/scandinavian/english religion) but currently im exploring the ancient kemetic beliefs, particularly Set.

i was told there is a difference in being a with and being wiccan... what is it really? cuz this is cool that everyone is saying what they are, but I wonder if everyone knows what the differences are... so people who are unfamiliar... it all sounds the same.
The term Wiccan is usually given to those that have initiatory lineage back to Gerald Gardner himself (the founder of the Gardnerian tradition). All other branches of witchcraft that have no lineage to Gardner tend to call themselves witches. They are all Pagan.
Briefly, a Pagan is a term used to describe those following the old ways or those that are not of Christianity. Heathens.
Wiccans follow Wicca which was made popular by Gardner. The Gardnerian trad has several trads branching off it like Alexandiran and British Traditional Wicca (all stemming from Gardner) and those that are initiated into these trads call themselves Wiccan, as they have direct lineage back to Gardner, etc.
Nowadays, people call themselves whatever they want. You got Christian witches, catholic taoists, buddhist satanists, and the hilarious list goes on and on.
I do not agree with them, but to each his own I guess.
I am the american Indian Wicca / Wiccan/ Pagan whatever you choose to say, mainly Sloitary yet, all of the women inmy family believe and practice the laws of the earth.
Wicca is both an ancient feminine earthly religion and also a newly-minted 20th century faith. Wicca is a neo-pagan religion which was reconstructed from beliefs, deities, symbols, practices and other elements of an ancient religion. Unlike Christianity it is not based on the value of the human word, but on the impact of the elements.
This is demonstrated by the words of a native American Indian Wiccan: "If you take the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain."
Wiccans believe in a dual deity structure: a Goddess and a God. Furthermore, the Goddess has three aspects of different ages: the Maiden for sexuality, the Mother for fertility and the Crone for wisdom. The Wiccan golden rule is the Rede, which states “Harm None, do what thou wilt”.
There are many who dispute this type of worship is a religion. Many people are frightened by the idea of Wicca and its more pejorative incarnation “witchcraft.” They judge it on moral grounds as an evil force. Why would a religion that on face value that is so respectful of the world be the object of great fear and dislike? The answer goes back many centuries.
An eccentric British civil servant named Gerald Gardner was the first person to take advantage of the relaxed law. Gardner was also an amateur anthropologist, author and a student of the occult. In 1954 he published a tract called ‘Witchcraft Today’ where he produced the definitive texts for those who practiced ‘Wica’ or ‘the Craft'. Gardner documented the religious aspects of what was to become known as Wicca.
yet as for Gardenerians to me are a joke yet, that is my opinion.
I do agree that Warlocks are decievers, liars, breakers of Oaths, they only wish to destroy the ones who truly believe, in my opinion.
This is an interesting link, if one views the comments the Pagans are quite upset the vampires are being pigeon holed with them;

what type of wiccan doesn't really apply to most people considering wicca is an earth based esoteric path. what type of witch craft or what type of pagan path do you follow would be a more appropriate question.
Yeah... i kinda agree with the above post... cuz it does seem like some people just call themselves whatever they wish to be..,.. but who are we to say someone cant make up their own religion... if we did that... we really wouldn't have religion....
now would we...?
I fall more into what Oceanne and GodofChaos has expressed. I am a spiritual person in nature but I have no set path or practices that i do. I don't carry a specific name or label. I feel since we are ALL spiritual beings, as long as we have the ability to sense, to feel, to use our Will, to imagine, to create, to focus, to connect ourselves with all that is around us....why does it need a name? For in my mind, we are all one and the same, the only difference is the intent on which we carry our purposes.
I think that it's our BELIEFS that we must find for ourself. And, for those of us that share the same beliefs with another group of people, well, that seems to be how a religion is formed.
Although, for me personally, I have such an eclectic collection of beliefs, some similar to several religions out there, some I have developed on my own in my quest for knowledge, which is why I don't really consider myself a follower of any religion, although there are some close ones out there.
I see a lot of these threads as being phishing expeditions for people who simply want to present something to their peers, and such individuals will most likely add flashing lights, and bells.
So again stereo types, are perpetuated.
In a way though it promotes to those who may have a sincere interest, rather then a trendy notion.
Yet no one declares themselves to be a Cowan
All threads are phishing for something, no?
I am just waiting for the popular thread, "Christian Witches".
Piggy Back Beliefs I suspect are a sign of attached social
desperation.
I often note the social desperation of individuals that dip in many pots.
Like a sports fan with not only split loyalties regarding team, but sports as well. It is reasonable to suspect they have gratuitous intrest.
In my personal observations I have seen regular conflict being instigated by such individuals, always wanting to validate their secondary faiths grafting to the present congregation.
It is all Projection, and Profession, rather then sincere belief. all a pretense for, "You have to except me, I am one of you."
Oh, and I should mention.
Thanks for giving me a chance to clarify the context of Phishing, those who phish are out to fabricate, and they are not interested in tenets in learning any thing past Jargon, and Buzz Words, just enough to touch up their costume , and write a script.
Spiritual beliefs should be a personal and private matter, not to be shared with the public.
I have to disagree here.
The strongest energy is raised with groups of people all having the same spiritual belief.
I agree with NF. In addition to sharing energy, this exchange of ideas can allow others that are maybe searching for their own belief structure more information, and to make an informed educated decision on what they believe, as opposed to jumping on the bandwagon of being part of the religion of the moment, so to speak.
Sharing knowledge and opinions, whether of a spiritual nature or not, is never a bad idea.
It's when we try to force others to believe in the same that there is a problem.
I agree with the collective mindset of a wider group of same beliefs but I also have to agree with NyklDormir1's comment too.
Wicca beliefs are part of my agnositc religion... but that is about as far as it goes for me
Nykl D.
Mitakyasi! I learned that from a Lakota friend of mine.
Much respect to you, by the way.
I have respect for most all original belief sets. It's just those that don't have respect for others that i have issues with.
