Ok well....I woke up at four in the morning to find a young ghost boy levitating directly above me watching me sleep...I'm not sure how long he was there until I suddenly opened my eyes and saw him. But a question I just have to ask...why would a ghost watch someone sleep? Hopefully there is someone here that knows things about the paranormal and has had more experiences with them.. The last time I had seen a ghost was when I was younger.
have u researched the place you live? perhaps your answer could be found there. For example it could be a place where he slept or his parents.
Maybe he was just interested in you, or wanting to communicate? He's no longer on this plane as we are, and he may miss it.
I agree, check on the history of the house, or the land. I mean, with all those that have gone before us, there's bound to be something in the area.
Another thing you can do to rule out whether or not it's your imagination, weird dreams, or residual vs an actual haunt...is to keep a journal of such events. Keep a notebook and pen handy by your bedside and take note of the time, place, what happened, how you felt and anything else peculiar at the time. You'll be amazed at how much you actually forget.
Aside from that, the journaling will serve as a documentary of your experience and can help you resolve whether or not this is truly an actual paranormal event or just having a wild dream.
I like that Silverhawk. That's something I do all the time when odd things happen. Keep things recorded. And I agree with above said posts. I'm curious whenever you saw this boy, how did you feel at the time? Did you feel any strange energies or felt weighed down, anything like that?
maybe the ghost boy was wondering
what it was like to be alive, one time
i fell asleep in my sisters room when she
was away at school and i saw the the
ghost of my dead best friend and it scared me
I think they come at night because a sleeping or still mind is more sensitive to there presence . The subtle ones like the boy just seem to want to play and interact with humans . If you reach up and touch them they feel ever so slightly warmer and denser than normal air . They communicate through gesture and a kind of emotional telepathy . These ones are totally harmless in my experience . Are you a mother ?, sometimes loving mothers will attract more than their living brood .
It could well have been a Lucid Dream. if it is comfort from the experience you seek.
As mundane as that is.
But all in all what are you hoping to build with as far as the topic?
THE BOY COULD BE A DISTANT RELATION TO YOU..... TO BE TOTALLY HONEST I COULD'NT REALLY HELP YOU WITHOUT FURTHER INFO ON THE BOY E.G LOOKS AND CLOTHS GENERATION. ANY SCENTS THAT WERE'NT NORMAL GET BACK TO ME I COULD HELP :)
Ghosts typically watch people because they are trying to communicate.
perhaps he was waiting for you to awaken so he could scare the bejesus out of you.
if consciousness continues on, why should not a sense of humor?
~W~
As you were in bed I also would think that perhaps you were coming out of a dream.
Sounds like a good opportunity to check out the white noise of the room.. If you are really curious set a digital recorder near where you saw him. Turn off anything that may make noise and let it record all night.... Just a fun experiment. You might be surpised what you hear on it during playback.
This sounds like a classic case of Atonia to me.Which is not paranormal but in fact a glitch in the safety mechanism that we all have that keeps us from moving or hurting ourselves during sleep. It happens as we are in transition out of REM.
I really don't see how that answer relates to her question honestly. She said she seen a ghostly boy above her as she woke looking back at her. Now if she said something like, she couldn't move or felt paralyzed, then i might understand that answer.
One can still wake from a dream and still be asleep, I know because I have.
There are alot of variables and experiences when it comes to Atonia Immortal. Oftentimes during these experiences a person will have false awakenings. In other words, they believe that they sit up, get out of bed, and even engage in various activities.
Found this on Atonia , i've never hear it called that befor.
Atonia, REM sleep : A frightening form of paralysis that occurs when a person suddenly finds himself or herself unable to move for a few minutes, most often upon falling asleep or waking up. Commonly called sleep paralysis, the condition is due to an ill-timed disconnection between the brain and the body.
The symptoms of sleep paralysis include sensations of noises, smells, levitation, paralysis, terror, and images of frightening intruders. Once considered very rare, about half of all people are now believed to experience sleep paralysis sometime during their life.
Sleep paralysis strikes as a person is moving into or out of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the deepest part of sleep. During REM sleep the body is largely disconnected from the brain leaving the body paralyzed. Sleep paralysis is the result of premature (or persistent) mind-body disconnection as one is about to enter into (or exit from) REM sleep.
Sleep paralysis occurs most often after jet lag or periods of sleeplessness that interrupt the normal REM patterns. It affects both sexes equally and occurs at all ages but is most common in teenagers. Sleep paralysis can be familial and may be genetic (inherited) in some cases.
An attack of sleep paralysis is usually harmless and self-limited. It tends to be over in a minute or two as soon as the brain and body re-establish connections and the person is able to move again. However, the memory of the terrifying sensations felt during sleep paralysis can long endure. (Some scholars believe that sleep paralysis may account for some of the old claims of attacks by witches and the more recent "reports" of nocturnal abduction by space aliens.)
A rare fatal form of sleep paralysis may, it is thought, underlie the cases of healthy teenagers, mainly in Southeast Asia, who die in their sleep, sometimes after fighting for breath but without thrashing around.
Sleep paralysis goes by a number of names, including the "old hag" in Newfoundland (for an old witch thought to sit on the chest of the paralyzed sleeper), "kokma" in the West Indies (for a ghost baby who jumps on the sleeper's chest and attacks the throat), "kanashibari" in Japan and "gui ya" or ghost pressure in China (because a ghost is believed to sit on and assault the sleeper). Medically, sleep paralysis is sometimes called waking paralysis, predormital (before-sleep) paralysis, and postdormital (after-sleep) paralysis.
Yes,and that is the most basic description. There can be hallucinations both auditory and visual with or without the feeling of restricted movement. With or without the feelings of impending doom or malviolence. As I stated above ,you can even feel you are awake and doing things, even though you arent etc..
perhaps the spirit is attached to the place or maybe to something you recently bought..or maybe the spirit was feeding off of your energy to try and convey a message from the grave.
Not sure if it was a hallucination because I know those can happen. I was awake I know when I am awake I am very in tune of what is going on. I know when I start to fall asleep and I go through steps of sleep. I did feel like I was weighed down but I know that also I was very tired and wanted to go back to sleep I didnt know. I stayed up a long while before I could go back to sleep I just layed there staring up at the ceiling where I saw him. He was dressed in Civil War attire, that is what it seemed like to me. He didnt have much hair either kind of like a buzz cut. Well ever since that night I havent seen him again.
I say go with the fact that you had a mighty fine presentation of lucid dreaming, and not spook yourself into something paranormal, this may allow you to be able to induce more peculiar apparitions buried in your obviously rich imagination. Such recall of dreams will build a good journal, and provide so much fodder for possible stories locked in your imagination.
I am just suggesting that a mundane explanation has just as much significance as an automatic assumption that it is paranormal.
I woke up at four in the morning to find a young ghost boy levitating directly above me watching me sleep...I'm not sure how long he was there until I suddenly opened my eyes and saw him.
meaning by your account the hours when Lucid dreaming engaged.
True but I was awake when I saw it could my mind just have brought an image to my eyes when I opened them? Because I swear to you that I was awake when I saw the boy. I do not lie about these things. I find it pointless to lie about something because it does not gain anything. I have heard that the mind is a very powerful thing. Could this just be like an image my mind brought up?
Yes it could which as I mentioned means you have a healthy imagination, and something imprinted upon your subconscious to be recalled in a dream.
I see I dont know what that would be what is imprinted in my subconcious.
It could be a cluster of things you saw without actually fixing on, the mind sees things weather we study them or not, and in dreams they sync in odd ways to run segments that entertain the mind, there are various levels of dreams, and iot soiunds like your lucid dreaming is rather strong I personally don;t lucid dream as often as I used to, but I rtell you this I hAD A DREAM i JUMPED OFF A CAR PORT, ONTO A NEWSTAND counter, and woke with sore feet.
but the question remains, IF ONE BELIEVES IN GHOST, WHY WOOULD THEY LINGER AROUND, OR WATCH THE LIVING.. pardon caps i AM GTIRED
Whoa...ok I think your right about this. I had a dream that something was after me and it said Im coming for you and in the dream I saw a scratch on my shoulderblade. Well when I woke up I saw the scratch but it had another one under it. It was so weird. Yeah I have alot of weird dreams. But it was never this almost realistic like lucid dreaming as you called it.
Well I have heard that alot of spirits are lost in the world of the living since some do not know that they are dead. So possibly to get them to help them find their way?
I like how in Ghost Town they point out that ghost may be "kept back" by the living.
hi.....my opinion is also....to get a history on the house...maybe this little boy lived there and you where sleeping in his room...it can also...mean maybe he,s your guardian angel.....being that he was watching you from above you.
And this is where "belief sets" come into play.
Great suggestions and it never hurts to go look into them just encase, because there have been some proven documentations of a resident whom have passed away, who the "receiver" is given a name which ironically matches the same name as the previous tenant. It's happened before.
I have found that most spiritual encounters can and do happen whenever one is open enough to TRY and communicate, if something paranormal indeed exists there. But, i think the best way to go about that is finding ways to open those communication doors, and get some equipment to help you verify some claims.
If i had the equipment for such events i would definitely have fun with it. Video myself while sleeping, using EVP recorders. I would have a ball with it.
Wish I could get the equipment they might cost a fortune and I dont know if they do.
Next time that you see the ghost, talk to him. Not using your mouth, but using your mind. Just sit in the bed and talk. Most of the time, these kind of ghost are traveler within a different plane of existence. Some of the members wrote about doing an investigation in your house. If you going to do that, you must also investigate your neighbor houses, due to the boy may be he is loss and he is trying to find a place where he die. Good luck!!
Now this is just me, but I firmly believe that people are haunted, not places. Spirits are all around us, but rarely do they make an appearance. They have to be affected by a living person's energy in order to find the will and power to reveal themselves. If you've never felt or seen this "visitor" before, you could have picked him up somewhere along the way. He feels something with you, a connection of some sort. You may never know what he wants or why he's drawn to you. That's just how they are. It doesn't mean he wants something from you, he may just be attracted to something about you.
Could be a lot of different reasons. i would begin by researching the house and the history of it.
The paranormal can be anywhere. Most are caused by a untimely death, unfinihed buisness, and being sommuned.
This thread has run its course. People are starting to repeat what other people have said.
