I have sat twice with "Max" a few years ago. The first time we met, he glowed yellow for me. The second time, we were alone for thirty minutes. Max is over 30,000 years old, made of five different crystal grows and according to the British museum - can not exist. I have had him on my lap and looked at every inch and every nook and crack. This crystal skull is much more than just amazing. He has been known to speak with his care taker, Joann, and gave me a few visions myself. This one is for real. Max still goes on tour. I do have a journal entry in my article section from the last time this subject was in the threads.
I remember watching a biography about this...it was oh so long ago though....wow, a lot of rhyming...
Anyway, I will have to brush my memory on the subject........hey, how many skulls have been discovered?
I think this article is excellent. The first thing that came to mind was extraterrestrials. What an exciting idea, which could be true, given the nature of crystal. Also, there was such a variety in size!! Totally amazing!!I collect skulls, and one of these puppies would make my day!!
As far as the Mitchell-Hedges skull, I read that Joe Nickell proved (in his book "Secrets of the Supernatural") that it was not discovered in South America by Mitchell-Hedges or his daughter Anna but was purchased at Sotheby's for 400 pounds.

The topic is really intresting
Like someone else had said- there was something on TV about the findings of Crystal Skulls- how many have they found now?

I really don't know..
I mean from what I saw- there was no marks on them to support the claim of them being made by Man...
I don't think I'd really want to ever know- it takes away the beauty of the idea..
Hm.. well there has to be SOME way to tell apart the real ones from the fakes...
Interesting article. I am not sure what I believe about those skulls as I had heard nothing about them prior to this thread. After doing some reading up about the The Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull it makes me wonder about the validity of the other skulls dating back that far.
I cant forumulate an opinion on the matter because how in the world did Mitchell create a skull that some are calling almost impossible to craft and certainly improbable...
I guess it will always be a mystery.
they were skulls formed or craves out of crystal by the myans for ritualistic usses
In articles that I have read, the British Museum studied several and found that they were manufactured in Germany over the last 150 years. The Smithsonian narrowed it down even further with the study of their own crystal skulls and found all of theirs were made in Germany (1867 and 1886)
That's not to say that all of them have been proven one way or another. The majority of the skulls given up for study have been found to be fraudulent and of fairly recent manufacture through study with an electron microscope. Max wasn't mentioned in the specific articles I've read about the museums so if Billy says that the British Museum didn't arrive at any solid conclusions with Max then that would be one of the few.
the energy said to be possesed by these skulls is incredable. The myans were very ritualistic people and there belief system very unique. thank you for posting this very cool.
Sacred - agreed that it's possible other skulls have a more mysterious origin.
I'm confused as to whether it's believed the crystals were infused with energy through their manufacture or if the crystal itself absorbed the energy or if the shape holds some power of focus.
On a bit of a side note, I've been to Chichen Itza and was amazed to find that they had built a rather large platform engraved with hundreds of stylized skulls that was used to display the real skulls of their enemies. So we can say that Mezo-American cultures DID place some significance on the skull form.
sacred......you mentioned that there is no way of telling how old the skulls actually are. can they not do a carbon date test upon them? every solid object contains carbon, and there are test now to determine just how old the carbon in an object is. It would only seem fitting that this would work, or am I misguided n my thoughts?
wow this topic rises so many questions in my mind....
Could this be the work of E.T. hmm I do think it is possible only because if these skulls are centuries old, how would they have made them back then? Also about them being magical, maybe, it's weird that they were found in contact with no chips, scrapes, or any broken pieces.
I never heard about the crystal skulls but I will definitely look into it more. This has really sparked my interest, as many of Sacred's threads do.
I've been interested in these skulls since I saw a show about them on the History and Discovery channels . I always wanted to learn more about them thanks for the link. Good question is yes where did they come from how did they come to be . Aren't there like 4 or more of them . And if they did have some kind of power what would happen if they were finally brought all together. Definitely something to study about.
kochab, I don't know much on the subject but here is a snippet from the article:
Since carbon-dating only works on organic substances, it is impossible to determine just how old a crystal skull is.
Kochab - I believe that Carbon 14 dating only works for material that was organic or made of organic components. bones, cloth, dead animal tissue, burnt wood in clay, etc.
Other radiometric dating is fairly accurate for rocks and crystals but in thousands and millions of years not single years themselves. Still, as I've said, some of the crystal skulls have been narrowed down to a date +or- 3 years and have been found to be manufactured in the mid 1800's
cool learn omething new every day... I didnt knowthat about the cabon dating either
well thank you for informing me that carbon dating only relates to organic substances.
i dont remember who exactly said it but someone said something about getting all the skulls in one place....... that sounds like a good idea. but the only problem would be determining which ones are true and which ones are a hoax. If there are only four true skulls as i saw someone else that would be relatively easy. I read about the experience someone had with max......can anyone imagine that four times as much?????
sounds better than any drug that would set someone off on a trip to myself....... wow now i want one.lol
