Heya^_^ I was wondering if you all would be able to help me. I am doing a persuasive speech in my Effective oral communications class, and I wanted to do one on whether humans could develope enough energy from thier minds through fear or such that they could actually create the illusions they see. Before I started working on this project, I wanted to know what others thought about it, adn whether it was worth doing. I came up with this topic from the ideas I saw on a show called 'Mind Freaks' with Chris Angel, Who apparantly doesn't believe in Spirits, but was able to create some pretty convincing one in the minds of some of his subjects on the show. I am aware that the whole thing could have been set up, but I still thought it would make sense that if you were scared enough, you could develope enough energy to create the being you were afraid of for others to witness.
So...what do you think??

i dont think thats possible the energy we posses we control, usally in a form of hyperactiveness or rage. but to create something of your fears and portray it visually so others can see it. i just dont see it possible

Makes since to me. I know that with some of my friends the power or persuasion is very effective.

Growing up I went to school with this girl I grew up with and still to this day I love to make her freak out. It is so easy with her, all I have to do is suggest something and then act like it's really there. For instance, this one time I went to spend the night at her house and we were up telling stories and all hyped up on suger. The story that was told was of this bogus guy that had gone around in the early 60's or so and killed a bunch of kids. I can't remember all of it now but I told is so convincingly then that after we went to bed I went and scratched on the windows of her house and totally scared the crap out of her. It was funny!

I'm not sure it would be possible to make others see what you see. You could make yourself see it though.

Cris Angel did that? That's sort of silly when you think about it. How can you make people see something if you don't believe it exists? Lol.

the mind is a very powerfull thing and can create beauty as much as horror and fear, so I do beleive the mind can create what the person fear regadless if the person beleives it or not, its a power fo the mind

Personally, I believe that because we *are* energy (yes, humans wouldn't be human without the energy that makes us alive) we can control energy. Such as positive and negative currents effecting each other... or just working with one another.

Fear is a response to a stimulus. It is a hard-wired response whose ONLY purpose is to help you to survive. Blood rushes to your large muscles to help you escape if necessary, heartrate and breathing accelerate, hormones kick up so that attention can be quickly focused on fast decision-making, "Run, hide, fight.."

Fear is in opposition to creativity. It's just not what your body and mind are able to do. It would be a waste of energy...in fact, after fear, you need a recovery period because of the expense of energy needed for survival mode. It is truly the one time when our primal natures are in complete control.

Now, that being said, once afraid, your fear can heighten to paranoia and cause you to experience what is not necessarily a REAL threat...auditory hallucinations, or misinterpreted sensory cues.

I find that far more likely than being frightened of Frankenstein's creature and bringing him into existence because of fear. If so, we'd be tripping over nightmares. And for the record, Chris angel is an illusionist. I love watching his showmanship, but basing theories around illusion is a bad practice.

yes mass illusions are common, people can be very sheep like in nature.
Mastering ones ability to hypnotize or suggestion of power ….. I will demonstrate.

Living in terror constantly, afraid to sleep, afraid to walk, not just fear but sheer terror can seriously mess up your mind and make you think that things are real. You can see them, hear them...You can see them in your dreams, and even feel them hurting you.
That much negative energy can do things mentally to you, but can't create anything physically, I don't think. But then again. You never know.

Of cause it will the mind will is the root of magic … negative or positive what you will will happen… you might need a focus or a rite but what ever gets you there when you do it will happen

For some it is quite easy to trick the human mind, using fear would be a effective tool, as it is the easiest way to cloud the human mind...

I think only if you,re capable of psychic shields could you make someone see something.

Do you know anything about quantum physics. A number of quantum physicists belive that the universe arises from thought. If they are right then your question is answered

I think that if you fear something so much that yes you could gave it power.

Being actually on the edge of my seat in a near miss airline incident, fear had me glued to it. I was unable to move, immobilised. Brain just closed down and my body refused to move. I guess there must be an explanation for that somewhere..

I think anyone capable of astral projection is capable of making someone see anything that you wanted them to see. It is just another way the mind can be used whether you believe in spirits or not

It can be quite easy to bend the visual precpetions of many...Yes this reality is a energy based illusion...It will be hard for most to ever accept such things even if proven by quantum physics....

I do believe that if you were affraid of something enough that you would see it often that is only my opinion from my own experience as a child

Once again, if you're in the middle of your own fear, you're NOT going to be in a mindstate of, "Oh, let me manipulate this energy in order to... (you fill in the blank.)"

Fear just doesn't work that way. Your body locks up momentarily and focuses YOU on your fear in order that you can make split decisions about survival. That's the nature of fear, no matter what sounds plausible to you about it being a collection of energy to work with. You simply won't be in a creative frame of mind.

Have you ever noticed that almost all posts about using energy describe a form of meditation? Ya ain't meditating when you're breathing rapidly and looking for what's about to GET you!

your mind works in mysterous ways. i think that fear especially creates things. for example, when ur kinda scared adn you hear a noise in another room, ur heart beats faster, ur palms get moist, adn u stop dead in ur tracks and listen really hard. when ur listening, ur waiting to hear something and most of the time you do.

your mind is more powerful than many realize. You can even make people remember things that never happened just by describing it well enough. I did that for one of my classes once. I called up a friend of mine from middle school, while i was still in college. i used her as a guinne pig. (i told her the truth later of course) and i made up a story from when we were little. the more i talked about it the more she remembered. Most of the time, people will just agree for the sake of agreeing. but i tested this theory with many of my friends. and a lot of the time they really remembered. when i told my one friend i was kidding, she was like "wow, i really thought I remembered that" lol

Its also like when your life is in danger you have more strength than usual.

all i know about the recalling is it depends on the mind your trying to convince. i have a friend try to tell me events that i have no memory of. i have a crazy memory to the point where i can sometimes quote people even after time has passed, or recalling the color of a car.

I feel that it could. Because just about everything we do involves some sort of visualization technique to begin with. So if you can, then I don't see why not. It would be the fact of other people seeing this image also...and believing that it's real.

I don't think that, even with all the energy you could muster, you could make someone else be able to see what you are seeing.

I think that under the right circumstances, you could make weak minded or very influencible, or very scared people see something for an instant, but not a sustainable image for a long period of time.

I agree. With influence and power you can make anyone believe anything. Think in terms of propaganda. It has been used throughout the ages to influence and change how people think. I also believe it is possible to create fake memories in people if done properly.

I am not sure u could produce an image that others would see. I do believe you could "manually" produce an image, but not with your energy. It is all illusion.

Maybe, it is more something you sense then actually see?

Could maybe be achieved in the form of mass hypnosis when you generate enough hysteria first.

In the sense of a physical manifestation, in plain words, just forget it.

if the will of the mind can be enforced over objects to make them move then why couldn't an image be put into their minds for them to see. I agree that astral projection is possible and it's the act of making people see what you want them to see.

I'm torn and unsure. One things for sure, if one were able to manifst such a thing, it would be an extrordiary illusion! Fascenating.

The mind is a powerful tool, and it is possible to create illusions that most will not be able to tell from reality, there are a few though who are strong enough in will that they cannot be affected.
