Okay, I'm a little confused. I've been told that Sanguarians are the same thing as Blooddrinkers and then I've been told that Sanguarians are just humans living the lifestyle of a vampire and the Blooddrinker is a real vampire. So which one is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh the great discussion of which is right. Honestly, to say that a human doesn't have the honor to hold that name would be quite selfish. If a human drinks blood, are they not a blood drinker? If you live the lifestyle of, say, a Jewish person. Are you not a Jew? The only difference is that a Sang has made the choice to live a life that was never given to them. A, as you say, Blood Drinker is just one that was born into that life. I'm sure that no one here would die if they didn't have blood to drink. Unless you have the 3rd stage of syphylus. So by that, it is not really a neccessity.

There's a big difference from someone who "likes" it and someone who was never given the choice to start or stop what was happening to them. I didn't know that the terms were different tho. I just always called real vamps Sang. and everyone else a Lifestyler.

'If you live the lifestyle of, say, a Jewish person. Are you not a Jew?'

A Reconstructionist rabbi would tell you that if your mother or your father is Jewish, then you are Jewish. They would also say that if you were adopted and raised as a Jew, then you are Jewish regardless of whether either of your biological parents were Jewish.

According to Reform Judaism: "The Central Conference of American Rabbis declares that the child of one Jewish parent is under the presumption of Jewish descent. This presumption of the Jewish status of the offspring of any mixed marriage is to be established through appropriate and timely public and formal acts of identification with the Jewish faith and people. The performance of these mitzvot serves to commit those who participate in them, both parent and child, to Jewish life."

In contrast, however, an Orthodox or Conservative rabbi would not consider you Jewish since your mother is not Jewish. According to Judaism's law of matrilineal descent, Jewish identity is passed on via the mother only (not the father). The Talmud (Kiddushin 68b) explains that the law of matrilineal descent derived from the Torah (Deut. 7:3-4).

At the end of the 20th century, the Reform and Reconstructionist movements, partly motivated by the rise in intermarriage and the number of children with a Jewish father and a non-Jewish mother, decided the law of matrilineal descent needed to be reevaluated.

I've been told I lead a Christian lifestyle... that by no means, makes me a Christian, because being a Christian means believing in the Christ, no living a lifestyle.

So people who live a vampiric lifestyle, are not necessarily vampires.

A psi-vamp feeds off energy

A sang-vamp feeds off blood; but a sang can also feed from energy when blood is not available

A blood drinker is just another name for sang. We don't use the term blood drinker much.

WOW!!

okay ever look into a mirror and wonder why your left is your right?
same idea here.

A blood drinker is kinda the reflection of a sang.
only from what I have learned is that Blood drinkers dont always need to "feed" in oder to live.

Sangiuans (sorry if I've fudged up the spelling)
are those that Consume the living blood in order to maintain a healthy living.

end of story.

Actually, tho many here have a point on names and semantics, ther is more to it than that.......
Sanguinarians were originally, by name, and being, people who took part in The Sanguinarium, aka Father Todd's gang, they were a conundrum, a mix, and a debate to that even, of those who were real vamps, and those who were fantast roleplaying as a lifestyle. Some may find the group's tenants helpful, while others will villefy them as cultish. In any case....it's not as popular as it used to be for various reasons.

The word's base 'sang' is blood literally. IN a way it made sense as a word, because it was for vamps, and until the community grew and convos were had, other feeding methods were sliently observed. To call someone a sanguiarian does not necessarily mean they belong/ed to the group, but that they do drink blood, but not always exclusively.

Sanguinarius, is Sangi's (the person) website and forum available for anyone's perusal. Sangi is a nice person.

So it would be easy to agree that blooddrinker and sang are synonymous, but that any vamp can feed in different ways. Aslo, it's basic knowledge that living the lifestyle does not necessarily make you a real vamp.

Jens,
Please allow me to elaborate on what I was trying to say. As you say, you lead a Christian lifestyle. So I would presume that you go to church on Sundays and pray to the Christian God. True?
More to the point. I meant that one who purposely leads that lifestyle, should be considered exactly that.
Take myself for example. I am a donor. I allow myself to be fed upon. I am fully aware of what I do and I feel that I was born to do that. If I never get fed upon again, I won't die from it. So the question of whether it is a choice or a necessity is pointless. The choices we make, define who we are. The only difference that I see between the two, is just a bunch of letters.

Sang vampires drink blood because they like it... I'm a sang, I'm also a psi, now that I'm aware of it...
Blood drinkers are the same for me... sang vampires... since none of us drink for living... all of us also eat food and drink water or other things... I don't think that a Blood drinker is the one who lives from blood...

if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and says quack - it's probably a duck. don't know who said that, but i think it applies. seems to me that a great many people here have a very narrow and specific view of what a vampire is - basically meaning exclusively them and their small circle of friends. i guess if the definition is widened too much, it will make you less special.

"Blood-Drinker:
Anyone who drinks blood, regardless of motivation. "
"Sanguinarian:
Someone who has a physical thirst, need, craving for blood (which is non-erotic in nature) in more significant quantity than is generally required or desired by other blood-drinkers. Sanguinarians (a word from the Latin root "sanguinarius", meaning "bloodthirsty") apparently do not get the benefits from pranic energy, or else they are unable to feed psychically like psi and energy vampires, for whom blood and pranic energy are apparently interchangeable. Wow, I didn't realize that there would be so much confusion on this topic. To me, it would seem that a sang-vamp is anyone who drinks blood, a blood drinker (which is a term I've never actually heard used) would be the same. Whether or not it is necessity doesn't really seem to matter, as the result is the same. Blood is taken and consumed.

Neither term has anything to do with mortality. Real Vampires are human and mortal as well as being a vampire. Even though I do drink blood I have never referred to myself as a blood drinker even though the term is technically correct. I am a sanguinarian vampire I was born as far as I can tell with a thirst for blood. As you can see from my previous post the words define themselves. A sanguinarian is also a blood drinker but a blood drinker is not nesicarily a sanguinarian. I'm not saying there aren't any out there but I don't know any sanguinarian vampires that call themselves blood drinkers. There are other sources for the definitions besides the one I listed that was just the most clear and concise that I found. If you want more search on yahoo and or wikipedia.

At the top of this post CryingMist said something that made perfect sense, sanguarians choose to drink blood and blood drinkers 'have' to do it (so it`s a necessity). i`ve read somewhere that blood drinkers are the same (synonym) with sanguarians and both are related to vampires(sometimes same thing (?)) which is it?

OK, well NOW I'm really confused.... Some people have been saying that the sang vamps are the ones that were born with the innate yearn to drink to blood, while blooddrinkers are those who choose to drink for any reason, but it does not mean that they are vampires... so which one is it?? I"m confused.

Maybe this will help shed some light on the confusion. I got the information below from the site http://www.thecovenorganization.com/sanguine-vampires/

"A Sanguine is a vampire who partakes of human or animal blood, for the purpose of taking in its energy. Anyone who partakes of the blood of another is not necessarily a Sanguine. Bloodists often call themselves vampires or are called vampires by outsiders and the uninformed. Again, the word Bloodist, as used here, is an umbrella term to them meaning a human who intakes blood.

Bloodists and Fetishists are not real vampires.

They, Bloodists, are only humans who enjoy feeding from one another. They are not vampires and they do not necessarily have the psychological problems so often attributed to sexual fetishists.

Bloodists do not need blood to survive. They simply have made a life style out of sharing one another’s blood for pleasure, intimacy or some other form of bonding and closeness. Bloodists do often have both blood and sex, or just the ‘blooding’ which in many cases replaces the passion of sex itself. Again, I remind you that these are not vampires.

Sanguines are vampires and obtain their blood from donors and friends. Usually they do so by slicing with a razor, scalpel or other device included in the design of various jewelry. Blood pumps and needles are also used but biting is seldom employed by Sanguines. Most often these arrangements are consensual, but very dangerous. Such practices can lead to infections and transmitted illnesses of the blood. There are many things just as bad as AIDS which can be carried in the blood of an infected person. Illnesses that lay dormant, then strike a few months or years from now … all just as serious and many just as deadly. And all of which can be passed on by you … if you contract them without knowing it."

Hope this helps!

Well seeing as how we now have a stated definition, I would say that the confusion is over. As a matter of fact, we have two definitions to go by and each say the same thing. Knowing that, I guess we can all stop saying that a Sang is by "choice". Whatever your personal feelings of the word, they are defined and should be look upon as just that. Kinda hard to confuse an orange with an apple if you know what they are.

Your welcome Vamripess25. I think the main problem with this question is that we should all be above stereotypes and labels. We are what we are and that's the end of it. No one here has the right to question whether someone else is a vampire or not. Besides, I think most of us can tell the difference if the need arises. We can not label anyone without sounding like the people that have outcasted anyone for being different.

Thats soooo very true . We have a tendency to judge and try to outcast others who we feel may be posers . Theres no difference between a Blood drinker and a Sang . If a Sang continues to drink he or she will develop cravings just like a person who smokes cigarettes .
