What happens to a Vampire after the physical form's been destroyed. Is there a "soul" or essence that continues to exist in another form or is that just "It"?

I truly believe that the energy from which the vampyr is indeed created forms into a soul type energy (known to some as a wraith), and then it ascends to a higher plane of existence. I believe that some dwell within the void and others in the abyss.

This all depends on your belief system on vampires, to believe whether they still contain a "soul" or not, since the vampire of lore is undead, so can something that is already undead still contain a soul?

I don't think anyone for suer can say where a vampire goes when they die. But it would be more than likely that they'd go where most people go when they die. Ha, ha but I wouldn't for sure be able to tell you what that place was. lol.

I feel it depends on if you believe it is a soul or just Energy that sustains the Vampiric nature, everyone has a different belief on it, Yet I feel it is more of an energy substance that just moves on.

well...it does depend on your belief in vampires and what u think of them. in some movies they actually still have their soul and others(like buffy) thats it. theres nothing.

I think this really falls into your personal perception of afterlife. What happens to any living thing when it passes on should happen also to vampires. Just, whatever you believe, hope that you are right...

like others it all depends what you may believe, for if vampyres have souklls it would be released to somwhere better, yet if not it would just die and turn to dust no soul no door to other realms.

there's always life after death. Whether vampire or human- everthing's exsistant, and roams fully. In many cases however- there's always if u believe.

what makes you sure vampires even have souls?

well the enegies may be past to the one that killed it.

Vampire, human, whatever I think we all have souls that are on the journey home.

A vampire is energy, as are all the entities in this world…it too will take part in the “afterlife”…I happen to believe there is one “afterlife” with many potentials depending on the energy leaving this existence….I do not believe in the anthropomorphic fantasy of an afterlife which would seem to prevent a vampire from entry into it based on some exceedingly human needs to differentiate things into “right and wrong”…..

well....once a body is destroyed then sometimes it will stay trapped within the body until it finds a new "home"
but then again there have bene accuances where once someone dies they are re-born again and can only remember things from their past life with either touching something that was once theirs or finding someone you once knew

yes I beleive it would depend on your beliefs.. Some feel there is no soul left in a Vamp.. Something definatley to try and research further

I think there's still a soul....what happens to it, I'm not sure, but I think it would be different than the afterlife for a regular human being.

Everything living being has one, the soul never dies.

If we're talking movie vampires, then none of them have souls exept Angel (from Buffy). *lol* They just go poof. *heh*

But if you're talking actual living vampyres then there is a "soul" or "self" or "consciousness" that continues on after the body dies. Vampyres are like they are with different abilities and needs because they have something in them that has spiritually evolved beyond mere humans. Because of this there are ways to strengthen and help preserve the memories of this self, with the goal being not to forget between lifetimes into which this self incarnates one after another. Ultimately Ascnesion may be achieved in which the self exists eternally in a spiritual state, a sort of immortality. Vamps are not the only beings capable fo achieving this state.

This is one beilef on what happens to vamps after they die...There are probably hundreds more besides.

I always thought since a vampire does not have a soul that when they die all that happens is that they turn to ash and thats it...

I believe that a vampyres soul set free when they die, because they already lived a tormented life of enternity watching people around them die all the time and so on.

i always thought of vampires completely as being immortal but seeing how this question envokes my thoughts to wonder...i know all energy never goes away and a spirit/soul has energy so most likely it would continue in another shape or feed off of another form of matter

call it a "higher plane" of existence, or call it "void" or even "abyss"...

i think this subject is so broad and there are so many possibilities on what could happen.
i would like to think that we are transformed to a higher being with a greater state of conciousness and awareness when/if such a thing happened.

I agree with the majority. It depends on your belief system as far as both vampires and the afterlife are concerned.

since all of us are modern vampires, i mean, not undead, all of us have souls and depending on our beliefs of afterlife is what will happen to our souls...

well i would have to agree with xtreamehate some believe that when someone is changed into a vampire the soul dies or moves on but in some myths vampires have a soul
i suggest you read a book called twilight hunger it is fiction but some of it is not please read it it can give you some hints to the vampire lore
