I am not sure if there has been a thread like this before...probably..but i am curious...in the movie they have the t.v sets and such that can communicate with the dead....are these machines true?..i mean i have read many things but i have never seen anything like in the movie..now my question is do u believe in those machines if they are real..and how do you feel about other machines that are used to contact with the paranormal..do you believe in them..,.

Yeah thats what i was thinking..when i watched it..i mean the e.v.p seemed real enough but hollywood makes up the craziest things and i wasnt sure...there are a couple other machines i am not sure about..like the one where it helpes ghost talk...umm..i forget the name..but it beeps its answers i think i saw it on ghost hunters..lol..i love the show..but i wasnt sure about the instruments,,

Maybe if one believes it works it could...but since I don't believe in ghosts or EVP's etc...and as for Psychics...they are scam artists...White Noise was just a movie...like Dracula was just a movie.People can believe what they like and express their opinions freely.Until I actually see or hear things for myself...they don't exist...to me.

Their may be machines out their that can communicate with the dead i personally have never seen one but they could exist, i do not think you can talk to the dead through a machine but that the dead can use a machine as a tool to communicate to you...

I know that spirit's voices can sometimes be imprinted on voice recorders, but I have not heard of any machines build specifically for this purpose.

well an e.v.p is really used to find spirits and other worldly creatures like demons and stuff

spirits can come to you through dreams, and they can also be with you everyday, in voice or feeling, it is really if they want to communicate or not

The movie is purely fictional but baised on therory some say is truth.E.V.P. is real as far as coming thew your T.V. set I have tryed it lol.I have done it threw raidos and C.B. raidos and H.A.M. but those voices you hear comeing threw are bouncing off of the sun and carried back to earth every 7 years.Spirits in theroy need electricty to comunicate and it is also thought that if you run a lot of electrical apliences you are a magnet to the paranomal.I have heard stories of peoples computers acting strange mine is one of them when completely unpluged for a 1/2 an hour the hard drive will kick on and power up the monitor.I was scared at first but I thought Naw it must be back up incase of a power outage.Or was it?????

e.v.p. is very real. but the idea of using a television is way old school. in order to see a spirit in a television, one has to place mirrors in front of it and watch the screen. it is said that if a spirit passes in front of the mirror it manifests itself on the television through the mirror.

That movie had me crawling. I often here things... Whether they be in my head of electronics, I have no clue yet. I do believe in a lot fo the things that happened in White Noise, but all. E.V.P is real, and I would NOT mess with it

I believe in the movie white noise, they were using tv sets to listen to the dead, now with that it would be hard to determine if you are listening to a dead person talk or a very weak signal of a far away tv station...

Watch the movie Poltergeist. The movie is about the white noise. They call it TV people. I know it is possible for something to happen, though probably not as drastic as the movie. I do not ever leave the fuzzy screen on.

I don't believe using a machine of any kind to communicate with the dead is a very good idea. If a spirit wanted to be heard he/she would be sure to communicate in a way people can see or hear without aids. Letting the spirit establish connection is the best idea; by attempting to enhance a spirits activity by using a machine may be intruding on the spirit and possibly angering it.

White Noise the movie was based off several different ghost hunting shows and other groups that go out and do "ghost" or "spirit" hunting. Most of the shows, such as the Discovery Channel (correct me if I'm wrong) ghost hunters, use a large array of equipment to try to confirm scientifically that there are spirits (not hauntings or ghosts) there.
The machines most ghost hunters use (i use the term ghost hunter loosely bare with me) are things like regular recording devices, digital and analog camcorders, digital recorders, any type of heat sensor, infrared sensors and all types of other equipment that can pick up a signal that the human eye cannot.
Typically unless you know what you are doing you should not go spend the thousands of dollars that you could to purchase all of this equipment and go "ghost hunting." It can be a very real and very dangerous experience. If you do consider going out and exploring the phenomena of ghost hunting EVP and other paranormal activity make sure you do research greatly on the area at which you will be doing your field work, and make sure you take a group of people (sensitive) people with you. If you have people whom are blatantly closed minded you will have a harder time finding any sort of activity.
Anyone who wants more information you could contact me or just do a general Google search on "ghost hunting" or anything like paranormal activity. It can be hard to weed out the bad sites but the few good sites you find can be very informational and helpful.

I believe some of the machines are real and that they work but it was also a hollywood movie as other have stated so I think alot of it was fake... and it also does depend on if you believe in it... well thats what I believe anyway

I personally don't believe in ghosts, but I have whitnessed interesting paranormal moments in my life. So I don't think it is wise to mess with the other beings, if there is such a thing.

Sounds like someone has been watching Poltergeist too many times...lol. But no, I don't believe that you need an electronic device to communicate with ghosts, spirits or the like.

I believe if spirits/ghosts can make noise, throw objests ect... why would they not make use of this medium also when trying to communicate.

There really isn't anything to special about the equipment that was used.... You can hear things with a simple tape recorder, see them with a regular tv..... the only thing you might want to have is a computer that you are able to throughly check the video and noise.... I think this is a real thing and that it is very possible.... There are many ways spirits communicate with us, why not through technology also.....

I also believe white noise was based on true stories put together but they added a lot to that movie, i do not think it is as easy to do as they make it seem, hollywood always makes things look simple...

EVP is real. there has been a lot of research intoit - i know someone who is experimenting with EVP on old cassette recorders. Marconi tried to use radio to communicate with his dead brother, and Alexander Bell believed telephones could be a link to the spirit world. i first read about people seeing images in tuned out "white noise" on televisions about 30 years ago, so it's nothing new.

"ghosts" have long been thought of as an electromagnetic phenomena, so it stands to reason that any magnetic based medium could pick them up.

whether or not they are mere echoes from the past, or sentient beings that are able to communicate is another matter entirely. theoretically it may be possible for a magnetic based life-form, or intelligence to exist. our brains are electrochemical, but the basis behind the function is still binary. magnetics have 2 poles, so are a perfect binary system that can function in the same way as thoughts - at least in theory. computers have a limited intelligence, and can communicate to an extent - but as far as we know they are not sentient. there is nothing to suggest that they are self aware - but then how do you prove self awareness?
