Ghostly figures are certainly not rare in the history of families. at corby castle in cumberland, there is a " radiant boy" who appears. this luminous apparition traditionally brings good fortune to the family, a greatb increas in power, and then at the apex of success, death comes in a violent manner. lord castlereagh in his early life saw this specter: he became head of governmenrt but later died by his own hand. no one seems to know who the "radianrt boy" is, burt some think he is the young version of lucifer the prince of light-alias the devil.
dose this sound like a cusre ? or just family bad luck? or anything super natural?
information taken "sybil leeks book of curses
Hmmm....Supernatural, possibly.
I don't know why it would be luminescent though.
mmm I don't think it's a connection with the devil. I have read of people seeing ghost that seem to radiate, or have a glow about them.
In this case it could simply be a messenger of good and bad to these folks.
It was probably a curse or supernatural, because if everyone that seen him became powerful then died a tragic death then it seems like it is a curse on the family maybe ...
Hold on, I reread this and if it supposedly brought good fortune to the families who saw it, and the dude died, who's to say that isn't a coincidence? I'm not a believer in coincidence, not really, but one bad experience and say it's of the devil and that seems a bit harsh.
I wouldn't consider it the devil or anything. I mean couldn't seeing a ghost lead someone to kill themselves?
ippyja
they diidnt kill them selfs, just died realy bad deaths, im trying to find the web site i had earler , :)
ah ok.
when I read this:
"he became head of governmenrt but later died by his own hand."
I was under the impression that that he killed himself not long after seeing the ghost.
i forgot to add yes by his hand i belive the book said a dule
There are many legends locally of English Civil War soldiers glowing very brightly as they thunder over the fields and across villages on horseback.... the glow is suggestive of a fierce will...
I think it might have been coincidence, but who will truly know the truth?
souns to me like the family had a run of good luck followed by a run of bad luck.
Well everyone has to die ... so any legend that ends "you will die" is a pretty good bet.
Except for dying in your sleep I guess, most death could fall into the "bad death" category depending on how you define it.
It could be that people are taking what happened and making it fit the legend.
Of course, the people who see the ghost could believe in it - this would motivate them to achieve great things and they will think themselves into a bad end
Maybe the ghost is a sign of great achievement at the cost of a tragedic ending. The devil is a Christian character & requires some degree of interaction & from what was described here the apparition revealed itself, the person was gifted with good fortune & died terribly.
Back then I suppose the could belive it is a omen of good or bad luck. My opinion is that they saw death is real and made it a point to live a good life so they could move on. the deaths are tragedies of life in general and we can't blame suicide on Ghosts. They only have bearing if they can manipulate things in the Physical world
i mean if people got power and wealth and died horrible deaths after they seen this then their must be something to it.
hrm.. the class is out on this one .. for now.. ( undecided. )
I don't know enough about the subject to make an intelligent comment. I do wonder why the reference to Mabon was made. (Autumn Equinox). Anyone care to elaborate?
There are many stories of glowing spirits..so I am unsure how this one is different.
And who gives a shit if he was a what eva damn shit he was?
The point is to understand that lil manipulative shit, and to exterminate it.
Sounds like a combination of paranormal activity and poor choices.
if they don't know who he is he might not be a spirit after all.
*sighs*
assuming it was an actual apparition, it doesnt mean that it had anything to do with the person's death
if he did commit suicide, then it's possible he made up the story of the radiant boy as some sort of call for attention.
anyway, lucifer is called the prince of darkness, i've never heard him called the prince of light before
with every recorded encounter with him there's been a sickening darkness and the scent of death.
i've heard of the radiant boy before - i am convinced it is a manifestation of the God Mabon.
okies had a response to this but the after reading all the other responses i am now way confused but thinks its more of a Good thing coming to a bad end
This does intrigue me highly.
I agree that it could just be a messenger of sorts.
I do not believe it had anything to do with the devil, the messenger theorys can make sense though, although I would think more of good spirtits warning or giving justice
