Edinburgh would be the perfect place to plan a meetup for 2009! It's an enchanting city full of wonderful historic tales, things to do and places to go. I work for a ghost tour company so I can easily organise for us one of (Edinburgh's scariest) underground ghost tours. These tours take you into the South Bridge vaults which are said to be one of the most haunted places in Britain.
It's also easily accesible from like, everywhere, as in you can take the bus from almost anywhere in the UK, and it's very cheap to fly in from some places in Europe. If you've never been to Scotland's capital before, why not!?
Does anyone else think that wee Auld Reekie would be a good place for a meetup this year? If so, when's a good time to plan one? Cheers all!

hey it does sound like a great idea.. i have been once but could do with a new memory of it,, and the scariest tour has to be the way forward..
Please include dates, times, and locations for all events. I know you're trying to get feedback as to when, but it is much easier to promote and get confirmations with a solid plan. Barring such information, this thread will have to be closed since the mascara section is to promote events. Thank you.
Alright then lemme have a stab at this... er... how about July/August? The world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival takes place during August. The city becomes very busy but it also means that there is no shortage of things to do. I'll have a mull over some sort of timetable and other things to do.
If anyone has any suggestions for things to do, feel free to put them forwards.
I can say this for starters, we can definitely go on an underground ghost tour, then finish the night in Scotland's most haunted pub, Nicol Edwards :p
This sounds like a wonderfrul idea as I stay in the west coast of Scotland in Ayrshire and I can get the train up to Edinburgh July is a good month for me
I would love to make this trip - would be nice to get to edinburgh again - last time I was there was in 05
I would be up for this, it is cool to see a meetup in the UK:D
Living in Falkirk i've got no excuses for missing a do in Edinburgh + i travelled to London for the great meetup a few years back...
i agree a few drinks in a cool pub are on the cards and a tour in the vaults is a definate plan (Its a great tour very spooky, guides were great and i swear i saw something last time...)
If we are going to go for a meet the best plan is to:
- Post a date in the forum 9even if its a guess atm its amazing how fast the time comes around)
- Provide details of some inexpensive B&B's (for anyone mad enough to be travelling distance)
- Locations of the pub where everyone will meet & a time.
I think we should make a day of it, I've been thinking of other stuff to do, like perhaps the Surgeon's Hall, never been but I hear it's great, lots of dead bodies and the like :p And if anybody likes the kind of cheesy scary then there's always the Edinburgh Dungeon aswell. I'll think of a date soon kiddies, fear ye not.
Yet ;)

Hmm I'm seriously beginning to wonder if I'm going to have the free time! I work 6 days a week usually 8-12 hours, so er... hmmm :s
Yeah but er.... *hides* it's really not looking like it's going to happen. Only two or three people have shown interest and I don't think I'm personally going to have the free time! *sob*
Well if there's one next year I shan't be attending, I won't be in Britain anymore, alack! Guess I will personally never get to meet anyone from here.
