I've never been the biggest fan of Greek mythology retellings, but I read Circe by Madeline Miller a few weeks ago, and I finished it in a day and a half because I couldn't put it down. So now, naturally, I need more. My mom has The Song of Achilles, also by Madeline Miller. I'm gonna start reading it tonight, and hopefully it's as good as Circe was. I need more stuff to read, since I tend to stick to my favorites that I've read a hundred times before. Does anyone know of any other good retellings of Greek myths? Preferably not the Hades and Persephone story.
I have a really bad habit of buying shoes and then never wearing them. I have several pairs of combat boots and booties that I've never worn, they're just sitting in their boxes in my closet, collecting dust. So, today I went through and listed some of them for sale. I have a few that I really want to keep, but I'm kinda thinking, why? I've had these shoes for several years at this point, and I've never so much as tried them on. So, yeah... While I may like them, I think I'll have to sell them all. Except my two Star Wars pairs of sneakers... I'm gonna keep those. Even if I never wear white shoes because all the dirt, I still want them.
I think I'm going to sell most, if not all, of my Ren Faire garb. I have two brand new bodices I never got to wear, two lightly worn chemieses, and a few brand new/lightly used circle skirts. All stuff I've used or bought specifically for when I worked Faire. It'll make things easier when we move, for one, and it will give me an excuse to purchase some more masc styled garb in the future, as I think that's what I'd be more comfortable in. I don't mind wearing skirts and a bodice, I'd just rather not, ya know? So yeah, things to consider.
I have also been considering selling some of my Star Wars collectibles. I like all the things I have, but realistically, they've all been sitting in a corner of my room, collecting dust and still in their original packaging. I don't have anything worth any real money, but a few bucks here and there and not having to lug it all halfway across the country might be nice. Though, I'm keeping my lightsabers. You'll have to pry those from my cold, dead hands.

I have a set of Star Wars bubble gum cards from the 1970s. I'm really fond of them and they still smell like bubblegum.
See, that's pretty awesome! I have a friend who has a HUGE collection of Star Wars memorabilia and I am so envious. All my stuff is mass produced less than 20 years old, so nothing is valuable. But, man, you hold on to those bubble gum cards.
I've been in the process of cleaning and packing a lot of my stuff in anticipation for the move, and today I stumbled upon some old Vampire Rave cards, and my old long sleeved shirt. I wore the shit out of that shirt back in the day. I wish Cancer would bring back some of the merchandise offerings we used to have. I'd actually love to get a new long sleeved shirt.
COMMENTS
My old short sleeve shirt was stumbled upon not too long ago, along with some stickers, my mug and I think maybe a post card... Can't recall for sure. It would be interesting to have merch back on some level. :)
I don't rate role play accounts above a one, and that's what that account is, role play. It's simply how I've always done things here. And, this isn't me saying that you shouldn't have outlets to express different parts of yourself, but don't expect me to rate you high when none of it is real.
Dolly Parton and Tim Curry on the same day... That is how you know we live in the worst timeline. I just... Fuck 2026.
COMMENTS
Both were on the same day and were the same age.
We lost legends; future generations will never feel the impact these two people had on generations before them.
I mean, Dolly has the legacy of her Imagination Library, which I hope will continue to impact young children all around the world.
I don't think I'll ever be able to state my complete lack of fucks given about most things that go on here. I don't like logging in and finding messages thatt so and so now owns this account and not that one. I don't care, and I don't need to be told via message. If I have concerns, I'll check what I need to behind the scenes. Otherwise, I don't care. Do what you will, I need not be informed.
In other news, I think all the supplements I amnow on are actually doing me some good. Granted, it's only been a week or so, but I definitely feel better. I am noticeably less tired. And, when you're used to being tired literally all the time, it's so refreshing to not feel that way. So, yay for that. I do need to see a hematologist, because I'm not actually anemic. So, I've got the referral for that in now and I'm just waiting for an opening. It's the iron as well as a few other things she's just a little concerned with, which is why she wants me to see a specialist. Hopefully we can figure everything about before the move. I'd like to start my life in Texas feeling healthier than I have here the last few years.

There's a lot of things I don't like about behavior on this site that I just have to tolerate because there are different personalities outside my comfort zone that formed differently. How boring would it be if everyone was the same life would all be a foggy gray haze with no definition to differentiate between.
Cool? Nothing I said here has to do with people being the same. Literally none of it. Do you type things out just to see your own words with no regard to the things you are commenting on? Because that's what it feels like.
You're twisting my comment out of context but I'm quite used to it on this site where things are limited to a text field. I know some make comments and messages not because of another's feelings that they care but rather their own otherwise they wouldn't be able to live with themselves.
That's fine, I'm not saying don't send messages or whatever. I'm saying don't send ME messages announcing shit that I don't care about and have no ties to. I don't care if a profile doesn't belong to a certain member anymore. Announcing it to me is not necessary, that's the point. Don't share shit with me that is wholly unnecessary. I don't talk to said member, I don't sek them out, and therefore, I don't need to be told that they've swapped profiles for the millionth time.
That sounds a lot like women that dress in skanky outfits then get mad at people that ogle and cat call them and they get mad because they only want certain ones to look at and approach them. I just see it as a part of the price to pay for things. We are on a social network made for the "vampire community" if the Home page is to be believed so I'd think all kinds of people from different walks of life will approach its members seeking out anything from eternal life to power and/or crazy relations etc.. Most just seem to be here for the cathartic experience or creative outlet in my opinion.
Yeah, cool. I love that you shame women all the time, who doesn't love a mysoginist? Don't fucking send me messages stating you've swapped profiles if I do not talk to you on the regular. It's not a part of my job as admin to keep track of who is who around here, and if I do need to check something concerning or suspicious, I have tools available to me so I can see what's going on without having to be told. That's the fucking point. The end.
How do you figure I'm shaming "all" women when I specifically wrote those wearing skanky outfits? That you twisting things out of context again to cast shade my way? Such things will get the fools all riled up and after me from your influence but you probably don't consider that. Yes you are indeed an admin with many positions so I'd expect many will approach you.
Did I say all women? No. Someone needs to work on their reading comprehension skills. And, my point stands, you're a mysoginist. I can give evidence of your own words countless times over where you're degrading women.
Uh yeah, whatever, you do that. I 'll have to disagree with being a misogynist as I respect many women. Besides I was under the impression you identified with being nonbinary or do you just claim womanhood when it suits you like when hiding behind a skirt.
Again, you really need to work on those reading comprehension skills. Did I say anywhere that I identified as a woman? No, no I did not, as yes, I am non-binary. I said you talk a lot of shit about women in general. It doesn't mean I'm referring to myself, because I'm not. You do you,of course, but I am going to call a spade a spade. And you, sir, color yourself as a misogynist with the things you say about women. You may not believe you are, and I'm sure there are plenty of women in your life you care about, but the things you say are rather derogatory in nature towards women.
Although my language skills aren't perfect I don't think they really matter in this context as the spirit of the matter should be evident rather than the letter. Some look for faults and use them as an excuse to dismiss something while not trying to reach a good conclusion. You seem to draw attention to such things to me. I'd guess its that insecurity you have in needing to save face that empowers this behavior in your personality. I don't think I'm a misogynous as a label for me though you can argue endlessly otherwise and use your influence however you choose. Yes I can definitely find both good and bad things in everything and this includes some women's character not all. Hell its being able to appreciate something in spite of the flaws that defines not being one to me. I think you believe too many lies of those you have surrounded yourself with that has warped your reality. Feel free to get the last word in on this thread of comments. I really don't think there would be any point in taking this dialog further but as an example for others to witness and draw their own conclusions.
What face am I saving? You came into MY journal spouting your bullshit. You're just annoyed that I'm calling said bullshit out. You are free to think as you wish, I'm not here saying you're a shit person. I'm merely pointing out that you say a lot of awful things about women and that's what a misogynist would do. I'm simply calling it as I see it. I didn't say those things, you did. You alone.
Bro inserted himself into somebody else's bullshit AGAIN, invented an argument, lost it, psychoanalyzed the person whose journal he was standing in, blamed “influence,” complained about his words being twisted, then announced everyone else could draw their own conclusions.
And the funniest part is this isn't even new. He does this shit constantly. Wanders into somebody else's conversation, completely misses the fucking point, turns it into some rambling philosophical TED Talk about society, personalities, influence, perception and whatever other shit fell out of the thesaurus that morning, then runs back to his journal to write another fucking dissertation about how everyone misunderstood him because they're just not as “spiritually evolved.”
At some point, when you're constantly having to explain what you actually meant to damn near everybody you interact with, maybe everybody else isn't the problem.
Most of the time you just say dumb shit.

Lol, for real. Logan would have a field day with all his journal entries. I should have him read them sometime and see what he thinks, as someone who is a mental health professional. I'm sure it would be enlightening.
How strange. When problematic elements step away, things get peaceful again. Funny how that works.
In other news, I went with my mother to watch the SIX theatrical release. They recorded it a few years ago, a tour with the original cast, and turned it into a film like Hamilton and Hadestown. I haven't seen SIX, but I did know about it prior to this. I wanted to see it when it was playing at the Pantages earlier this year, but tickets are always expensive and getting to Hollywood is annoying. So, this was a good way to gauge if it's worth seeing live.
I rather enjoyed it. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to the English monarchy and the history of the Tudors, so it was right up my alley. And the music, it's so good! I had heard a few songs over the years, but I've never listened to the whole soundtrack before, and now it's going to be in my musicals playlist. My only gripe is that is a very short show, the runtime is little more than an hour and change. Extremely short when I'm used to shows being at least two hours. But, it's enjoyable. The music is fun, the costumes are... Interesting. I love that it's framed like a pop concert. All-in-all, I had fun and enjoyed the show. I'll totally be singing some of the songs between my singing of the entirety of the EPIC The Musical songs. Haha.
COMMENTS
Comically, I had that very same thought earlier today.
Yeah, but when the problematic elements disappear, so does my free entertainment. Who the fuck am I supposed to point and laugh at now?

I'd say it was a pretty good birthday. I didn't do much, but I woke up next to the love of my life, got a voicemail of Liz and the kids singing happy birthday, and then this evening, my mom took me out to dinner and got me a cake, so I didn't actually have to cook my own birthday cake this year. That's always nice. Logan and I celebrated yesterday. We kind of relived our first date, seeing the new Spider-Man and the having a nice dinner at Chili's. Crazy that there hasn't been a new Tom Holland Spider-Man movie since our literal first date nearly five years ago.
But yeah, it's been a nice day. Nothing spectacular, but at 39, I don't need spectacular. I don't really want spectacular. Good food, good company, that's all I need.
Thank you to all those who sent me a message with birthday well wishes. I truly appriciate you all. 🖤
Here's to the last year of my 30's.

Happy Birthday! :)
Thank you, Cursed!
Logan got us tickets to see the new Spider-Man on Sunday, because it's my birthday weekend, and I guess that means I get whatever I want. And I want to see the spooder, haha. So, that'll be fun. He's been asking me what else I want to do, but I just can't think of much. I hate having a birthday in August, it's too damn hot to want to go and do anything. So, the movie is fine, it's dark and air conditioned, and it's Spider-Man, so a win on every level there.

Thank you. My birthday isn't until Monday, but I go home Monday, as I didn't want him taking a day off work just for me, so we're doing all the celebrating this weekend. I hope you and your boyfriend get too see it soon. And happy belated birthday to you, as well.
Interesting. Very interesting. I sure do love when people sit there claiming they're one thing when they are very much not what they claim.

Well it is a fantasy site we can be anything here, fake werewolves vampires and even fake footballers. Is there harm? I think so, especially when pretending to be an actual human. Sounds more like a trap than a role play to my paranoid mind.
I had a guy in my inbox two weeks ago, who popped up from nowhere, asking me a load of personal questions. I'll wait for the next 'I'm just an average English guy with an interest' profile to message me.
I know, I've been naughty and got locked up.
I'll go away now, k bye.
