From the depths of the ocean

The Earth rises to the sun

A land of paradise

Where Natives were once free to run

Where colors so bright and waters so blue

Where the birds sang and we danced to the tune

The birds remain

But we-

We have changed



We`ve walked through other worlds

But we`ve stayed right here

We have fought and we have died

And we are even those we feared

We are from afar and we are from near

We are all that has entered into our sphere



We are the hunters and the hunted

The killers and the killed

We are the souls and the hearts we`ve filled

A conflict of interest running through our veins

And now matter how diluted-

The blood cannot be drained

We are everything that`s happened to us and who did it

We are some of the proudest and yes we admit it

But inside-

An Indian runs as a White man chases

A black man bleeds and the man today faces

That all three will bleed if this one vein is cut

Taino still lives on- so, now what?



We are all three

And through these eyes all those men see

We feel the hatred and the peace

The pride never to release

With the words of the White man

The strength of the Black

The soul of the Indian

And never looking back

Today we are Latino

But yesterday more than that

Today we are Latino

But tomorrow more than that

Today we are Puerto Rico

And tomorrow-

Still.



Still on the Island and never to run

Although he`s gone Taino still lives on
