The original gothic role-palying system, created by TSR. Tales taking place in virtually any AD&D campaign could find their players surrounded by an eery mist which could lead to only one place: the tragic lands of Ravenloft.
TSR released Ravenloft roughly three years before White Wolf came out with VAMPIRE: The Masquerade.
I played Forgotten Realms a year or so before Ravenloft came out. Both entranced me because they really focused more on story telling than the robotic "You came across a vampire with 20HP. What do you do?" nonsense of the original D&D.
But still, even though I've been a huge fan of WW StoryTeller system, I still get chills when I think about the insidious realm of Ravenloft.
