I have heard friends talk to me about the ethereal realm. I am quite interested in this topic but can't seem to find any information on this topic.
The Only thing that I know when I have talked to friends that have apparently been there is that I apparently stand outsise the natural realm of the ethereal and am a proctector. And that generally the ethereal is accessed while sleeping
Any information would be helpful
The ethereal is a bit too complex to describe in just a couple of posts. So, I will sum it up for you:
The etheric plane or etheric region is one of the planes of existence, or more specifically a subplane or planes, in esoteric philosophies, in some religious teachings and in New Age thought.
In neo-Theosophical and Rosicrucian cosmology the etheric plane constitutes the fourth[higher] subplane of the physical plane, the lower three being the states of solid, liquid, and gaseous matter.
In Theosophy, the etheric plane is related to the Prana principle and is understood as the vital, life-sustaining force of living beings and the vital energy in all natural processes of the universe. The "Prana" first expounding came in the Upanishads, where it is part of the worldly, physical realm, sustaining the body and the mother of thought and thus also of the mind. Prana suffuses all living forms but is not itself the Atma or individual soul.
Theosophists C.W. Leadbeater and Annie Besant (Adyar School of Theosophy), and later Alice Bailey, conceived that the etheric plane constitutes the four higher subplanes of the physical plane.
According to Max Heindel's Rosicrucian writings there is - in addition to the solids, liquids, and gases which compose the Chemical Region of the Physical World - a finer grade of matter called ether, which permeates the atomic structure of the earth and its atmosphere.
The ether, which is disposed in four grades of density, is considered to be physical matter and responsive to the same laws which govern other physical substances upon the physical world (the blue haze seen in mountain canyons is said to be in fact ether of the kind known to occult investigators as chemical ether).
He states that there are various grades of spiritual sight, each suited to the superphysical realm which it opens to our perception: etheric vision, color vision, and tonal vision. Ether is reported to be of four kinds, or grades of density (from the lowest to the highest one).
The "Chemical ether": both positive and negative in manifestation and it is related to the assimilation and excretion processes;
The "Life ether": has also a positive and negative pole and it is related to the forces of propagation;
The "Light ether": the positive pole is related to forces which generate blood heat in the higher species of animal and in the human being and the negative is related to the forces which operate through the senses (passive functions of sight, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling);
The "Reflective ether": the medium through which thought makes an impression upon the human brain and this ether contains pictures which work as reflexions of the Memory of Nature found at the World of Thought.
His writings, called Western Wisdom Teachings, refer that in the Etheric region there are various classes of sub-human beings and also the Angels, who are described as being one step beyond the human stage, as human beings are a degree in advance of the animal evolution.

Alright that was a lot of information to sift through Soulshroude! I have had my curiosity tweaked now and will have to check this out in more depth! Thanks for the info, is not something I had heard about before.
Ok, for some reason I keep getting references to Freya????????
After reading that I must know more. I would love to understand how it works and how it comes about. Thanks for asking the question and thanks for the answer.
The ethereal realm/plain is more commonly know as the Spiritual realm/plain.
I like to keep things simple lol
Personally I would take no notice of people who tell you what you are, be it in this realm or any other.
The truth of who and what you are will make itself known to you in good time.
Your choice of course.
I hope its ok to pose another question in this same thread (I feel its relevant);
Would the etherial realm (which by most definitions encompasses the physical state) in fact predate the more physical realm?
I think the answer to that question is one of those....'depends on your belief system'.
Personally I would say yes, spirit before matter......and that's as scientific as I get lol
Well, my thoughts pretty much match up to what has already been said....in a nutshell, it's another plane of existence, most likely home to the majority of energy beings. That's about as simple as I can get lol. For it IS a very complicated subject, taking into account the variations in definition by people of different belief systems.
I had not heard of this before. Soulshroude that was very informative. I am going to have do a little more research on my own, now that it has sparked my interest.
Or simply put; The Ethereal Realm is the realm of the Ethereal. :)
Its actually an old term for that weird stuff "that's out there." Not in the physical.
Great explanation Soulshroude...This is the kind of discussion that sends me into research mode... I'll have to get out my copy of Theosophy made simple and start reading it again to see what I can find..
Thanks for the info Soulshroud.
I know that this s a very in depth question and I know that I will not get al ot fo the answers I sek on this subject but any information is better then none.

Again you have blown me away with the quality of your post. Indeed you are correct. There is no simple way to explain about the ethereal realm. It can be described in many ways and is similar in many ways to the astral realm.
As with the astral realm, it is actually possible to project an image of yourself into the ether and look around. However, this is not easy (much more difficult that astral projection) and can drain you very very fast, so lengthy periods are impossible.
Mener
All it takes is a bit of effort to search online to find everything you'd like to learn about.
Was even told that the newer term ethernet is taken from the ethereal realm - taking a relatively new term and taking it from the paranormal - I like that.
I along with the rest, am very interesting now as well. I thought it might have something to do with the astral realm and things of that sort.
i too am a protector of people and know what it is like to be in that kind of state and i like it very much. think of yourself very lucky
If you want to learn to play in this realm and the other higher astral realms there is a great book call “The Art and Practice of Astral Projection” by Ophiel. It's small easy to read and very informative practical guide to astral projection. I've since read other books on the subject and many of them make a confusing mess of a relatively easy to understand concept. What we're dealing with here are simply other parts of one's own body and the spiritual planes associated to them. Once you experience astral travel for yourself for the first time and after you get over the initial "Holy Shit" reaction you will definitely want to learn more about it and how to make it happen again. This book is simple and has some suggested techniques to practice that make the process easier.
The best technique I've found for learning how to astral project and how to be in control of your astral journeys is actually quite easy. I'm not sure where I learnt it, I think it was from Ophiel's book but I'm not sure. Anyway, basically one should strive to become what it called a lucid dreamer. I can here you know, “What the hell is a lucid dreamer?” A lucid dreamer is basically one who is in control of their dreams. “How does one become in control of one's dreams”, you ask? By first realizing you are in fact dreaming while you are dreaming. This is easier said than done but it is attainable.
In a months time, many people only remember a small fraction of their dreams. It was suggested to keep a dream journal. This is simply a journal you keep by your bed and as soon as you wake up immediately write down everything your remember of your dreams and do this each night. If you don't remember anything write "I chose not to remember".
You'll find that, over the period of several months of this practice, you'll consistently start to remember more of your dreams and you will also remember more of those dreams. The interesting thing about using this technique is you will indeed start to have lucid dreams. The first few times this happens you'll most like snap right awake. “Holy Shit!” Eventually you'll be able to relax and when the realization comes you'll be able to continue with the dream without awaking and finally the fun part... you be able to take control of the dream.
For myself I found that I was not able to astral project until I could master lucid dreaming. Astral projecting is not a easy thing to do and I would be suspicious of anyone who claims otherwise and says they do it all the time. Once you get the hang of lucid dreaming learning to use your astral bodies to journey outside of your physical body is the next step. It can and will happen but it take a lot of patiences, determination and meditation. Actually lucid dreaming is a form of astral projecting.
The first time you experience it, just like the first time with lucid dream, you'll most likely snap right back into your physical body as soon as you realize it is happening. There is no mistaking when it happens, it's not like you'll sit around and think to yourself "Gee, well I sort of felt something". Let's say you're setting there meditating and trying to focus on leaving your physical body. Then you all of sudden stand up and walk across the room but something fills funny so you look back to where you were sitting only to see your physical body still sitting there clear as day. "Holy Shit!" You snap back in it. That's what it's like. The first time is very jarring. The very hard part is, once again, learning to control the "Holy Shit" response and just relaxing in order to go with the flow and really start to journey.

As concerning many of the outer realms, such as the ethereal, astral, metaphysical etc. According to the Sacred Geometries, these are all realms of the other world. Picture it as a sort of pythagorean theorem of sorts.
Euclid's elements suggest that the theorem can be divided into three parts: knowledge of Pythagorean triples, knowledge of the relationship between the sides of a right triangle, and proofs of the theorem.
This analogy working logically with the differant planes, or realms of existance is sustained by this theory. The three main planes or realms are in theory allegorical triples of the universe.
While some individuals claim to travel these planes, or realms on daily, weekly, even monthly intervals as well as have witnessed what lies beyond our natural perception, society has yet to see it for themselves with open eyes.
As the Universe is suggested as well to be an allegorical Unicorns horn, the spiral of the universe has these planes, or realms intertwined within it. Thus the meaning of the Unicorns ascension with the Golden Age. But I think this would be another thread. Although everything is one huge subject.
What I am getting at, is the allegorical spiral layers of the unicorn's horn, representing the universe...Has the differant planes of existance or energy interwined around it. This is a bit of the Sacred Geometrical structure.
Hope some of this makes sense.
Last few posts were perfect with the descriptions and sites. You guys beat me to it and well done indeed - these should answer everyone's questions, just peruse what was posted and hit those sites!
the information in this thread has been wonderful. Again I have learned something new. Thanks to everyone that posted info and links!
Soulshroude pretty much has covered it with his post and I must agree with him

well i know theres the physical,astral and then the etherial body types i would have to think the etherial would be something that is almost like the physical minus the solid bodies
iv'e also pondered the thought of...
that some realms don't have a physical existance meaning that you can be but only in the mind like a place where you can only visit if you use your mind to get their,but i do know there is a etherial energy.
