Okay I was browsing around on the web. I came across this site that talks about the making and make up of movies and shows pics of scenes from various movies that are related to vampires and werewolves
check it out... i wish i could post some of the pics in here but i can't, you'll see
did anyone see these movies? if yes, do the movies come from imagination or from myth and legend? were they good?
has anyone every really thought about how they come up with the plots?
Dark Needles
Didn't see any movies with the link, but a theatrical make-up artist specializing in very gory, scary scenes.
Her dolls were especially interesting:
Et tu Brute:

Caesar
some of his work looks good , some a little off but good for quick shots . probably looks great on film though .
I've never seen any of the movies those people were in. It would be my guess that they are probably in those cheezy horror flicks. It is well done though.
Gives a good insight to what they would have to do on the bigger movies
Alot of vampire movies are cheesy. "Lost Boys" was cool when I was in 8th grade...but most classics are great mainly for their nostalgia value...like a sci-fi or horror comic book from the 1940s & 50s. Gotta love it!!! My favorite "b" horror movie isn't a vampire movie at all. It's called "Sisters of Satan"...& it features tons of TKK samples..
.."& this is what the devil does."
prolly those movies you buy in the slim cases at dollar stores or in the dollar bin at Wal-Mart
but i would give them a shot
anyone else?
oh and i remembered something
i once went to a Family Dollar in WI and looked through the Dollar bin .... i found a good movie called American Vampire ..... it was cool
buy it
Finally! -laughs- I am not the only one who has seen American Vampire! :P Don't mind me.... heh.
I think those special effects are very professional and well done. Thanks for the link! :)
I've never seen them either, but the site looked really interesting. I have a friend who is starting his own company doing costuming and special effects for movies. I will pass this along to him. Thanks for posting this.
Nope, never heard of these movies. I too like some B movies. Love the special affects though! I would watch these if I saw them on sci-fi channel.
I have never seen any of the movies either. Never heard of them as well.
It looks very professional, but they are probably low budget films that don't make it to the top.
The sit was wicked but as well havent seen any of those movies. I am sure most movies based on Vampires, Werewolves and other things are based on myth and legend. How they come up with the plots I am not sure...just blessed with a good imagination I am sure.
Nope never seen them myself but thanks for the link,it's interesting to note that Shiva Rodriguez actually played a few characters herself in those films,so a woman of many talents perhaps?
I haven't seen any of them either... however it seems that the website is a promo for the works of the one person.
Has anyone googled the movies to see how to find out more about them? Does the site help with purchasing any of the movies?
these are some of my favorits

This is a good movie,
Originally released in 1922 as Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie Des Grauens, director F.W. Munarau's chilling and eerie adaption of Stoker's Dracula is a silent masterpiece of terror which to this day is the most striking and frightening portrayal of the legend.
An unauthorized production of Bram Stoker's work with enough preserved to recognize, but enough changed to be legal (names changed to protect the innocent?). Count Orlok's move to Bremen brings the plague traceable to his dealings with the realtor Thomas Hutter, and the Count's obsession with Hutter's wife, Ellen the only one with the power to end the evil.

I haven't seen any of them but you may be able to find them on line and post them in Vampire database for anyone who wants to get them.
I have the movie howling, and its pretty gory .
The plots come up by some one writting up a story and then gets put into a screen play . Alot of itis done with Cgi computer animation now.
I saw 30 days of nights when it first came out it was good good animation
I think I have seen at least one of them... it looks familiar. The Special affects are pretty cool I think. As whether they are real, legend or made up... I think movies comprise of all three to weave a fantasy tale for entertainment.
from dusk till dawn is a great film, another great one is legend though not a vampire movie the effects were way ahead of it's time
most vamp movies are made for shock value and not much more
i think they are soft core porn movies - most of them have a sort of plot and reasonably good SFX these days. there's a very amusing soft core version of Terminator 2 - Judgement day. i used to do hooror makeup as a hobby, and frankly i'm not really impressed - but then on the other hand, Shivas work is very ad-hoc and put together in a hurry, so probably doesnt have time to do things properly.
I haven't seen those movies, but I have seen American Vampire!!! I'm willing to watch anything once. I just reserve the right to turn it off halfway through. ;)
I have seen Dracula Prince of Darkness mind you it was a long long time ago
There were never any movies. These were "photorials" photographs used to illustrate some stories.
The following was taken from their website:
"Siren Productions Photorials
From 1998 until 2005 the crew of Siren Productions did a number of illustrated stories. While the actual website that these were regularly featured on has long since been put out of commission, I thought to include them here for nostalgic reasons.
The Vampires were our first photorial project which ended up going on from 1998 until around 2003. The story revolves around a small group of vampiric characters who have just "recruited" a new fledgling and the trials of adjustment for a young vampire. The story goes on to explain how these immortals have changed the course of history as we know it."

I have seen some of the older classic versions of dracula and vampire movies but it was a very long time ago.
90% of all vampire and werewolf plots are the same. It gets old at times...really the same plot over and over, at times it makes me sad.
I watch them all including the cheesy ones lol. I don't recognize any of the stuff on that site though. Of course I haven't seen all of those types of movies that are out there. Vampires and werewolves originate from myths, legends, stories of the past...so I would say that those types movies are very loosely based on myths. (Some more loosely than others lol.)
I liked the older movies they had more of a real plot to them, but I'm sorry underworld has been done before its time like in many others. The plot was a war between vampires and were wolves...kind a getting old...
films these days are there to make money - the plot is irrelevant. It is a shame when they crap all over good ideas - like Underworld, like Van Helsing. Very bad films.
I like van Helsing and underworld the second one was taking old plots and put new ones to use, but most are there for money, love films slashers horror chick flicks you name it
Hammers House of Horror
He made some good but cheesy movies.
Oh and...Andy Warhols Dracula and Andy Warhols Frankenstein...they are way out there...but classic
Interesting. I havent seen any of them but would love to sit down and see them. I like the oldies they are great to watch, the effects are very funny at times. Although the new movies effects are way better.
I've seen a couple of them and i've always been fascinated about how they come up with the plots. i heard somewhere that they take real life events and just make them into vampiric terms.
i kinda like to watch vampire movies :) i like the way some of them are made :D
diw -
That's probably because a lot of vampire and werewolf movies are remakes.
I just saw your website that you published here on the chat thread. Those are some scary make up and scenes that people poytray. I think when it comes to the make up I don't sdee how they can screw it up. It to me looks real although I know its only a fake portraits of actual people who play in movies because the way the make up is done.
This Thread Has Served Its Purpose. Hope you learned from it.
