The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

This is something that Vampirewitch39 came up with after seeing that I had put MooniePie's avatar up as my own.

This is how it would go down:

We pick a day.
We pick a person.
We change our avatar, with permission from the person you would love to spend a day in the life of.

It would have to be for a WHOLE day.

That one person would have to be someone who has changed your 'life' on the site - someone you want to be more like - someone who has set an example for you - someone you greatly admire.

After you pick the person, get permission to use their photo/avatar.

Then after you change your avatar to theirs, you write why that person means so much to you in your journal.

THIS IS NOT A CONTEST. This is just something to do to show others about someone you care about.

If you have more than one person and more than one profile, feel free to use your other profiles to do this. If you have more than one person, but only one profile, feel free to write about the others in your journal too.

The only rules are the site rules - keep it clean and within ToS.

Please write your thoughts on this idea here in this thread. If there are enough people interested in participating, a date to implement this will be chosen and posted.

THEN.......When Monday comes where ever you are in the world, start your avatar change.

I do like this idea though - it seems to be subtly flattering to everyone that has a picture of theirs used.

i already have mine and this gonna be fun :) i think we should do this more often it could hep with making poeple here more sociable

Why did I pick Khayman for One outrageous day of flattery?

I admire the hell out of her for so many reasons. She is a single mom with two kiddos, boys. She loves those boys with every fiber of her being, and this shows. In every breath she takes, in every choice she makes, it shows. Second, she has never, not once, ever, flinched at the thoughts, ideas, concepts, train-wrecks, etc., which have sprung from my head fully formed or half, like Athena from Zeus. That is so damned rare in this world.

She has encouraged me to confront my fears, rational or irrational, with humor (sometime gentle sometimes barbed :D), compassion, wit and a boot to the ass when necessary. She's rejoiced with my successes and commiserated with my failures.

She makes fun of me when I am a jackass. ♥

I'd love to spend a day in her life, to more fully understand her joys, her hopes, her frustrations, her angers, her laughter - the whole inner workings of Khayman. She's helped me, and continues to do so, whether she realizes it or not, to come so damned far out of my shell and actually interact with people, and to enjoy the opportunities to meet new folk.

She, through her examples of opening herself to the world around her, has made it safer for me to try the same. That is such an invaluable gift.

So, for a day, yes. To be that outwardly fearless? To have those two precious little demon-angels as a huge facet? Yes. I'd love to spend a day in growing understanding. :)

Who on VR would I be for a day? Joli. This woman has given so much of herself, her life to help others. She keeps the faith, which is so hard to do facing all the misery she encounters in her daily life. She shows me that people care, can make a difference, which in turn makes me want to help. She reminds me a single person’s actions can effect so many.

She has a wicked sense of humor, a deep well of feelings that she expresses with her words and poetry, touching so many of us who visit her journal.

On this site she was the first one to take a chance on me, asking me to become a Sentoran, leading me down the path I am on now.

VR would not be the same without her for me, nor would my life.

She is faith, a light in the darkness to guild you.

And for that- she is the one I would want to be for a day.

I asked Imageinwords to let me use her Avatar for the “Who Would You Be For A Day On VR?” on the main forum.

Why? She made the site feel like a home. When I was a free Sire she invited me into House Eternal. I remember logging off the site, not knowing what to say to her. House Eternal was, and still is, full of great people. People that I looked up to and respected on the site. I joined, and found some true lifelong friends. Imagesinwords gave me them, and I will forever be grateful.

She also is the person I go to when I make a mistake on the site, listen and learn from her wise words. She is always fair, even though most don’t see it that way. I have learned the hard way most people on the site judge from only one point of view. You need to take into account the person, and how they are off the site. If you are a whinney ass in life, you will be the same on the site. Drama follows drama. Imagesinwords is level headed, not easy to get angry. How do I know this?

Sitting at a table, eating dinner, talking for hours with her and her family. You learn folks, you read their words, see how they take life and the goals they wish for themselves and others. If you truly do this with Heidi and not love her as a person, then most likely we would not get along.

To a great woman, who is always reaching for more in her life, a mother who is always teaching, and a wife who is loving. Thank you for being my friend and making this site a home for me.

I chose Requiem.

She has, quite honestly... kept me alive. In more ways than one. There are things about me that only she knows and I never ONCE had to ask her to keep it that way. She understands the gravity of my mind and, as I with her, has never once flinched at me.

She is a sounding board. A friend. A shoulder and a rock. Occasionally she shoulders me into the rock to get my ass moving.

The first time I met her she'd flown out to see me here in Virginia. She watched me sing that night and, thankfully for my ego (cuz it's a big'n) she did not laugh. ;-)

The next time I'd seen her she flew in just before I'd had my first son, Jackson. It was close enough to her birthday that I'd decked out the apartment in a Halloween 'do and made her shrimp scampi for dinner. I'd never made that before. She was a happy Requiem, that night. Thank God I'd gotten that meal in her before her allergies kicked in. It was a fabulous visit and she spoiled the pregnant lady muchly.

She spoils me constantly with a friendship I honestly think is God-given. Having children is the most difficult thing in my life and if it weren't for her... I honestly don't know where I'd be, today. And I know this because, no matter how difficult, colorful and curve-balled my life has been... I know where HERS had lead her. If she can trudge through her life and come out the beautiful, lively, wise and diamond strong person she is? I can definitely handle what gets slung in my face. And hey... she sings opera. THAT gets a gold star. ;-)

I truly cannot imagine my life without her and I am blessed beyond belief and then some to have her as my friend.

Lord Razr

You all may know him as Lord Razr but to me Lord Razr is my dear friend Manny :) When the first coven I was in, Scarlet Moon disbanded I was sent over to De' Morte. That was when I started talking to Manny, and I must admit that I was a little timid to talk to him. All my answers were very short yes or no and I was scared of him (pfft) He made me nervous haha. But after awhile the more I talked to him it became clear that Lord Razr was going to be a good friend to me. He is like a brother to me and I adore him. Even though he and I have had our differences we always seem to be able to keep our friendship going. He is someone that I can easily talk to about any of my personal and VR problems and is always there for me when I need a friend. He is also the only person on this site that is not afraid to hurt my feelings with the truth when I need to hear it. I admire him for what he has made De'Morte and I can only wish to someday be able to follow in his path. He is admired and respected and a good coven master. He can be devilish and sweet at the same time and I always try and find ways to pester him...ya know just to irritate him :D Sometimes it back fires but hey you can't win all the time hahaha. Manny thank you for letting me be you for a day. I love you, you big lug

Hail De'Morte!

I didn't change my avatar because the person I chose has not been in over a month, I doubt he'd be on any time soon for me to send a message about it.

There are many people on this site that I admire, and I didn't want to pick between them- so, on purpose... I chose a person I've only had casual conversations with, nothing too deep, at all. I choose: ThothLestat.

What I love about ThothLestat, is that he truly uses his membership here in the healthiest manner I have ever come across. This is not to put anyone else down or say the rest of you 'aren't doing it right', I'm just saying... I dig the way he does it. He comes here bright and airy, fun, and light. There is no 'drama' with ThothLestat. I actually hate that word in that context, but this is a person where it applies to, absolutely. He fosters a membership here that doesn't create it, and if it dares come to him, he doesn't address it. At least, not in any way that it would be any kind of big deal, and balloon. He's not a jackass, not stuck on himself, and not concerned with proving himself to anyone here by carrying on trivial things.

What ThothLestat brings to Vampire Rave, is many things- and one is grade A entertainment. Check out his journal. His everyday life, explained from his very awesome point of view, reminds me of the way I look at things. There have been times when I have shared things here that not a soul has commented on but him- it is then I don't feel so out of place for finding the humor that I do if someone like him 'gets it', too :) People are more likely to give him a high five than they will to me, for various reasons. I understand that, and really don't care. Knowing that someone I really enjoy is laughing with me... that's much better :)

I deal with a lot of *stuff* in this position. Immaturity, zero ownership, pettiness, and the like. There have been times when it has gotten me down, when what I believe to be intelligent eyes not viewing me the way they should- the way I have had to handle situations and all. He has messaged me in the past with support and understanding- words of, "What you did just proved what I assumed to be true all along, was." He's never judged me like many have. He treats me as, "If you had to do that, there must have been good reason." He never assumes otherwise.

He continues to share his humor- and has been 100% loyal to his Coven since day one. I know that he must have had numerous opportunities to move to other societies, but he's not here for popularity, the 'standings', or what someone can promise him. He doesn't care to be a society master either (from what I gather). He's here to connect with friends in a very easy going manner. He is loyal to The Coven of Forbidden Fruit (which is one of my top favorite covens).

He is not vindictive. He doesn't even get involved in things to a point where that would even be choice. He is fun. He comes here to browse around, say hello to his friends, share humorous musings, and get back to the offline world. It may seem like that isn't a big deal... but from where I am standing on Vampire Rave, it's damn rare.

I'd like to be ThothLestat for a day, and feel as light as he always seems. And if it's all a lie, he still deserves the accolades for giving this place what it needs: intelligence, wit, grounding, and... him.

I would be Cajome. She is one of the most loving people that I have had the wonderful opportunity to get to know. She always knows just what to say. I love our chats and when she calls out of the blue it just makes my day.

She always has the time to listen and give advice on many subjects. She really is the cat's meow.

I choose xxEmaeraldxx .She is Smart,sassy and has a great sense of style.E is a woman who loves to live.She is kind,compassionate,has a great sense of humor and is one who can laugh at herself.
She is also my VR friend since my early days and she has never led m to question our friendship.
I admire her a great deal ,for she is truly a gem in every sense of the word.

even tho the fact that I have 5 profiles (all premium thank you) I can't do it, because there is to many, to many great people on vr have inspired, impress, teach, and show me things, emotions and if I was to do it, unfortunately it would take me more then a full year I think on all my profiles.

Reason is simple, yes most would be those I know personally, chat with, eve know on fb, or yahoo or msn, but some are complet strangers, that I learn from simply by reading their journal, looking at their profiles, seeing them evolve over the years I have been on here

and some even are foes/enemies/dislike people who hate/dislike me or I dislike or even simple tolerate but will ignore most of the time and will at times say hi, but only to be polite, why? simple; even they have earn my respect, and even if they do not respect me, its ok, all that matters is to to take what can help me be a better person, evolve and grow, the rest, I can leave it outside my heart.

A person is an imperfect being who can change in positive way or negative way, who can grow, teach, hurt, love, care, destroy construct. And many more.

We are a persoh, and you are too, so I wish I was able to pic one, to place on myt CryingMist, or Serenity or this or xxJakynaxx or Klingon but ... it would be to hard, as I am still learning both from good people and not good people.

Aww thanks Oceanne! You are the most fun loving person I know, and have always been so approachable and adorable. It's been a honour to met someone as trustworthy, honest and wonderful like you in VR :) Like a breath of fresh air you are, you are!
