I saw this movie last night and it is, Tres Magnificent! The theater was packed and no one made a sound or moved for two and a half hours. The movie was dark, soulful, beautiful, moving and for those of you who have not experienced Opera an enriching introduction to it.
I am a Phantom fan but have yet to see the movie. I will definately check it out
I watched the movie two times, never saw the original musical although I know theyve changed some stuff...well the adapatation to the movie screen is at least incredible which makes it a true classic..heed my words...and yes go and watch it, really worth it!
i really want to see the movie becuz it seems interesting. yet i have no idea what to expect. like is it likea real movie or is it all in opera? is it boring or is it interesting? be either way i want to see it becuz the phantom is very interesting himself.
I saw the actual play a few years back and thought it was amazing. You didn't have to follow opera to enjoy it. Can't wait to see the movie, i hope it does the musical justice.
i cant wait to see it and ut would be great caz i get to get in for free...muwahaha
Personally I watch ANYTHING with gerard Butler in it.
On a side note, there's a Karaoke joint near my house and this 70-ish fellow on a crutch comes in every now and again and sings a selection from Phantom of the Opera. The man is a classically trained singer for opera and stage. OUTSTANDING voice.
Then the next time his name is called he busts out with 'Funky Cold Medina' by Tone Loc and doesn't even look to the screen for the words.
He kicks azz.
ROFL
I am extremely excited about this movie, I can't wait to see it!!! I haven't experienced much opera but me and my sister listen to the songs all the time.
i also saw this a few weeks ago, its very emotional! it made us all very weepy! i thought it was brilliant and cant wait to buy it!
loved the old silent movie.
cried during the broadway play version. which i will be going to see again this year. *squeals with delight like a cheerleader*

Seen the movie and its beautiful! very artistically made & the music is exquisite! seen it two times and ran off afterwards to buy a copy of the original text.. & bought the music so i've practically been playing it all the time! Im in love with it hehe!
never seen the movie or a live play...but I seen one once on tv/cable from a theater...it really love the music...and can't wait to see it...
I had no chance to see nor the play nor the movie...but as soon as I get one I`ll tell you what I think...
I can not wait to see it. I loved the original so I hope this lives up to it unlike other movies I have seen. The music is truly beautiful and enticing.
I went to andrew lloyd webbers phantom three times in two different cities....
haven't seen the flick yet...but it's a must
that story of obsession and lust is by far one of histories greatest.
i cheered for the phantom by the way.....
poor tortured artist that he is
a muse can be a horrible thing to have to placate
I really enjoyed the show.. and now i wish to see the movie.. but i know i will have no time.. maybe ill catch it on DVD even though i know it wont be the same
-_-;
I'm not so fond of Opera, but when the play was in London, the lead singer (trying to remember his name ouch) - the big guy made a fortune with his voice topping the charts at nbr1 for so long.
I am a phantom of the opera fan, hehe..but still have yet to see this latest incarnation
Heh, thanks CrazyWolf for jogging my memory.. that big guy Emmy so eloquently forgot about was no other than the great Parvotti himself!
I think Phantom is amazing, but I am yet to see the film, as I wasn't sure if it would do it justice, but the feedback sounds positive...
I want to see this so bad! It brings back alot of memories for me. My mother loved it. My aunt and uncle took my parents to see it. She came back with the cd. Her and I listened to it all the time. Her singing along with it sometimes I can still hear =) Okay enough of my moushy story.. lol I wanna see this..
The Phantom of the Opera is an inspiration to me. I'm also a collector of everything that has to do with him.
A proud owner of the classical musical, and the one with Robert Englund starring in it.
Regarding soundtracks and music, I have almost everything one can find online or over the counter.
Such a mysterious yet tragic character.....a genius in disguise yet still missing that final touch; his love.....
I've seen the opera twice - once in New York and once here in Orlando, I read the book, and since opening weekend, I've seen the movie 3 times. There were a few details changed, but it didn't effect the story. I loved all three. The first movie adapted from a book or played that wasn't completely ruined! That alone is a miricle!
The movie was amazing! It was quite literally breathtaking.

Blessed be
i havent seen it yet but hope to in the near future(sp?)
I can't believe that he died in the end because he found out the love of his life was having an affair with his long lost brother..
I have never seen any version of the Phantom of the opera and I hope to see the new movie very very soon. It captures my mind whenever I hear about it.
I absolutely loved the movie! I grew up listening to the musical, and I got to go and see it for my birthday when I was little. And it was actually Sarah Brightman who performed. I think they did such an awesome job of it. I was really worried that they would screw it up, and yes they did change a few things... but from a die hard fan, I LOVED it!
Not to mention Gerard Butler is my beautiful Scottish boy that I have loved for years.
I havent seen it yet, but i want to. i heard it was the greatest.
Just got to see the movie two weeks ago. Very much like the stage musical.
I had the opertunity to see this at the Midland Theater here in Kansas city... I took an orignal script with me and they did it perfectly... Yes, I had to see it in a theater also. I must say, it is wonderful... No complaints from me thus far.
I just saw The Phantom of the Opera in chorus class. ^_^ Well, most of it anyway...I missed school the day we were going to see the end. -.-' So, I plan to rent it soon so I can see the rest of it, because I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. ^_^
It is a really good movie. I enjoyed it alot. Awesome acting, great singing, and it was just great.
If you are worried that they "screwed up the flick" ... STOP WORRYING.
This movie was done in excellent taste.
Emmy Rossum (Christine) and Gerard Butler (The Phantom) were simply brilliant.
The movie was done amazingly well.
(This from a huge opera and musical theatre fan)
Seen it live in Toronto a few years back.
It was bloody awesome.

I saw it live in London it was absolutely brilliant and the movie looks good but wont compare to the live version :)
i watched the movie and i loved it. props to the creator. its such a beautiful story
I saw the movie and i loved it, it really got to me, and it inspiered me to learn how to sing opera, (which i havnt got round to doing yet). i have the movie on dvd, ive never loved a movie so much.
Loved the movie. Not much of an opera fan, but the moive kicked Ass.
the movie was bitchin.... i like most of the music off of it... and the story rocks....
Haven't seen the film yet but always loved the story very dark!
Love the movie!
Gonna be seeing the play on broadway this month....Yay.
I love the Movie and own it but I haven't seen the opera live I would really enjoy it I think and i hope to get to see it soon.
I saw it a couple of hours ago and I have to say......I love that movie it's beyond awesome
It was amazeing and beautiful all at the same time, I love opera [but also cant live with out my hard rock!] I would have killed the girl though. It was great I reccomend it to everyone

-ecstasy
I saw the play twice on broadway, once when it first came out and about two years ago. I just saw the movie about a month or so ago and can tell you that is was just as good as the play.
It is a must see !
wow movie sounds kool,, will have to have a looksy.
have seen the stage production a few times,, have labelled it one of the most beautiful things ive seen in my life, cried all four times,, hope the movie comes close to that:)
Saw the live production years ago, listened to the full cd's many times, and now seen the movie 4 times(own it) and still love it.
The Phantom of the Opera is truly the most intense, beautiful and amazing movie I've ever seen! I can watch it a thousand times... (And Gerard Butler as the phantom is... outstanding)
Its one thing that I haven't seen at the theatre, and really want to. i love the oundtrack, and the film is also very well done, although I dont really know about the choice of Phantom :-S
Glad you enjoyed yourself.
I have seen Phantom of the Opera 2 times, but i havent seen the movie yet. I heard it was very good.
Thanks for the info, I will see 'Tres Magnificent' ASAP!
After seeing POTO several times, I think Butler was a good choice. Quite raw.
i have watched several versions of the movie/opera.
i also love nighwish/lacrimosa doing the song
Seen Both The Movie And The Musical...Now There Are Quite A Number Of Differences From The Movie And The Musical...For One The Movie Version Of Music of The Night is totally different than the musical version...i cant remember the other visual and musical effects right now but if I remember ill post another
When I was little my Dad took me to see the musical. But I want to see the movie.
Phantom of the Opera happens to be one my all time favorites thanks to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sarah Brightman; I don't think, however, that It should have been sang by the actress (whatever her name is) from the recent movie that just came out. It pissed me off when i heard her sing because she totally shot it to hell.
Emmy Rossum...Was good for what she did to it...Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford Are Too Old To Play The Parts Of Christine And The Phantom...It Can Be Done On Stage but in the Movies it cant
im am glad to have the pleasure of actually being on set for its filming Emmy Rossum did a terrific job for her age in a star role since playing in The Day After Tomorrow... Gerard Butler was the only acter who did not have to meet the requirements of being a top opera singer for the movie and did a magnificent job as the Phantom.
Emmy Rossum's life long friend finally got to be in the same movie as her Jennifer Ellison did a nice job as the supporting actress for Emmy and their duet was astounding.
Mini Driver... however much of a comedian she maybe she did great note though that her true voice can be heard during the credits for she didnt actually sing at all throughout the movie.
Patrick Wilson... nice and effective as an acter and yes he too did a great job... most outstanding.
I have the privelege to have Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Ellison, and Gerard Butler... to star in an upcoming movie called Nightmare: Envoy of Creation... based off of the beginning of my saga War of the Gods...
So said I take personal pity upon any being who has not seen the film or has and calls it a pain in the neck... cause ill give ya a pain in the neck two punture wounds to be precise *hisses*
btw... the movie was based upon the book not Andrews play (back to the original performance lol) also does anyone know what the true story about Phantom of the Opera was about? I'd like to hear from any who might or want to know just message me
i have been a phantom fan for a very long time. i think that you think the movie was good, then you should read the book.
im such a phantom fan. its a very soulfull moving movie. must say its one of my favorites. i always enjoy looking at it. relaxes me hearis cristine sing every time im not in the right mood:)
going to manhattan in november to see it live on broadway.
This movie blew me away...i never thought it would be that good. The romanticism, character performance, deep story line, and ofcourse the music...what else can i say...
An absolute masterpiece!
