Do you believe that the Gothic style of dressing and Vampirism go hand in hand?
not necessarily. it is a tendency, but not always. i am not gothic, yet i drink
I am no fashion expert by any means. I think they are two separate styles of dress, but closely related. So closely related that some people don't know the difference.
The whole Goth look seems to stem from certain Imagery. Bauhaus playing at the start of the Hunger, the dressing in Victorian-style clothing, that sort of thing, so I think the 2 are entwined together, thus the line between the 2 has become blurred so much that when people think of one, they also think of the other.
ummm, not the same i agree with lking4trouble,in fact i do beleave there was a simillar thread about this very thing
As I see it goths do it for style
vampires do it either out of being used to dressing in such a way or plain expediance.
With the myth of casting no reflection basic black is something not so hard to match
aye?
depends on the individual, but i do not believe that vamps must be goths.
oh my, I am feeling a little deja vu on this topic. One individual can be both at the same time but to be one thing and considered the other is another thing altogether.
it does realy depend on the person
as for me i have mixed the two together
to send a signal to others of our kind but
subtle enough for people not to notice
Personally I wear black so I can get dressed in the dark if need be and run like hell.
Now as for vampires and goths
Wouldnt the person be of the period unless they were posing as something else?
I would have to say also, depending on the person. some beleive they go ahnd in hand and others do not. I beleive people perceive them as the same. but to me they are two totally different eras.
There was a thread similar to it

I dont think they go hand in hand at all.
countessmoon, you are so right, there has been, not the same but close enough for the same points
No I dont think so however ussually Its possible to make a picture about persons beliefs accorging to what he wears...But its not necessarly true
It's just because people associate goths with vampires and vampires with goths.most goths like vampires and the colours black and red are considered gothic. Some goths like to dress in a vampiric way hehe.
i agree with msleyfaye (sorry if I spelt it wrong) vampires do it out of expectancy goths do it for style (No offence meant)
Nope. Vamps don't have to dress Goth. There's no "Dress Goth" bylaw in the vampire rulebook.
No I don't believe so, just because vampire are different. Different taste, different opinions, different cultures, everyone doesn't dress the same now.
Vampire dress as they want, when they want....
Hmm.. What is gothic dress? Is it what they sell at hot topic? I think not.. but many think that is correct.
I personally think Vampires should dress as the fashion was at the time of their creation.. just to make it easier to categorize people :)
As far as hot topic goths.... *PUKE*
for those not in the us www.hottopic.com
Scarlett, I love you for saying that!
Love the puke part :))
I have this comic in my journal, but since we're talking about Hot Topic "goth" I thought I'd throw it in here.
Well, I feel that both Goth and Vampirism is about attitude and that attitudes have styles that come with them as a result...
But, then one has to figure out; is Goth and Vampirism the same attitude???
hey jason...i'll mee ya down at hot topic and we'll start some shit up.....
you bring the chainsaw...i'll bring the beer
No, I don't feel they are the same at all. I been wearing 'colours' all my life. I wear black because it reps all colours and hence has power. Goths I believe wear black for attitude. Big difference.
heh.. attitude? ..punks have more to do with attitude then goths and/or vamps..but then it always depends upon the context of the reference, you'll have to define what you mean by 'attitude'
this is one of those subjects that will always remain upto the descretion of what the indervidual considers to be 'goth/vamp' ...in the end there's a point where goth and vamp are one and the same; the futher you get from the center (where all the verious goths and vamps could be considered one and the same) the more defined it becomes, sorta like sub cultures within the sub culture... thus at the same time becoming nothing alike..
but then, you'd have to work out what exactly constitues the center ;)
and this ofcourse is an over simplifaction.. but then again remember you're talking about a sub culture of which has an emphisis in diversification
i like the emo hair in 1 eye
emo big buckle belt
the emo zip hoodys but there r zip hoody 4 all but with a emo colour like orange or something
Well, being a vamp doesn't mean you have to look goth, I've seen many vamps on here that look everything BUT goth. Anyway, I don't look into your views of fasion, I just wear what I like. If I like it I wear it.
it does realy depend on the person and how they want to dress just remembe that even if u are in a "social group" not all people think alike
i dont really think they go together, but sometimes i guess they do
i'm married, kids, live in a trailer park *nice one btw* and you think im gonna dress up? mwhaha I'm happy with my shorts, tank tops, loose shirts and chillin'.
more on topic: No i don't believe they go hand in hand at all.
Honestly, I don't know where this aversion to Hot Topic comes from.
I don't shop there a lot, but I'm glad the store exists. Any clothier that deviates from the norm is an asset in my opinion.
Black goes with everything...stops my arse from looking huge and well I am soo pale that if I wore white noone would know where I ended and my clothes began....~giggles~
Okay okay I know there are other colours out there..I have some Purple and Crimson I know this...lol
Not just that but wearing black just looks good...good on anyone ..everyone...black and tight...that is on my xmas and birthday wish lists ...makes me easy to buy for...lol
Yes Vamp and Goth get mixed up ...just so happens I am a Goth ..(not Cyber though) who is into Vamps etc...so well I don't mind...YAY!!!
~runs off to her light absorbing wardrobe to not think about what to wear today as it all goes and looks great~...;)
I think that the two are often mistaken for the same, but are in fact separate. There are some people that are intertwined in both, but in my opinion they are not the same.
I agree with what was said above. It seems that way a lot but I don't think it is. Really vampires would most likely have different styles since vampires, like people, are different. Different styles for different vampires :P
Morrigon is right. Vampires were humans before so if a little yo hip hop guy is bitten hes gonna become a hiphop vamp no?
I wear what I feel.... But I do find black very elegant and sexy... classic. and it makes my butt look skinny..lol!
I will admit that I am a "goth"... At this moment in time I am in no way a vampire for 2 reasons. One I have not been turned, nor have I turned anyone. But I do like the dress styles.
Did someone say HOT TOPIC hmmm home away from home...ok done now I will leave
*walks out the door then turns around*
for goth and vampire clothing thing its to each their own
