Some people are not so encouraged to spread their thoughts across the message boards to be understood or not. For some their thoughts are considered a plague dear.
So in answer to your statements ...
feel free to message me if you have a question to be answered and honestly want my thoughts ...

then that kills the whole point of having a forum and learing from one another.

I agree with you Moonie, if a person has something to add or an oppinion I love to read what they have to say .. I just find it hard to swallow a bunch of people saying ( and yeah admittedly I've probably done it myself a time or too) but when all they have to say is "I agree with so and so" Well yeah that's great to hear, but are you telling me you don't have nothing more to add???? any hoo, I too notice some of the really good threads just being tossed aside, alot of that is due to people giving up on even reading the forum anymore because of the "useless" or non-related threads ... Just my a**hole ... er oppinion >;^} tee hee (sorry)

Well quite honestly when the serious threads are closed and the love for the umpteenth time threads are thriving what really is the point of putting time and effort into creating response?

I post a vampire thread about vampires in the actual news such as associated press over the last year. It was closed almost immediately even though I spent 36 hours researching for it.

Where as the love this love that have 5 threads atleast open.

So I am sorry if you do not care for the current threads in the forum being fluff. Perhaps admins could be spoken too about closing threads that have been done over and over for five hundred times this month and actually keep open ones that provoke some kind of response other than 'me too'

well some of try to get to all threads ,but i myself am not on here for very long periods so i admit i get side track, but you are right, we are here to learn at least i try to get more info..and yet there are some threads that just arent, what i care to answer to

I agree with outgoing. Too add to it, some of us don't need to write an entire novel and over explain our views on a topic that more than likely is a repeat of another thread. We can usually get our point across without having to be so wordy or would you rather we all just copy and paste what we have written in other threads?

It's rather hopeless I suppose we'll always have half witted folk around. I guess we just have to keep moving along.

we can ramble on all day about how bothersome it is to watch the IQ level slip through our fingers. The bottom line is that we can't do anything about it.


It is much easier to respond to a mindless thread than to actually organize thoughts in a coherent manner and respond appropriately.


I think i'm going to go digging for some intelligent threads and see if they some how make a come back.

You can agree with people on a thread. That happens were more then one person shares a view. BUT I see people posting just to post. THAT is just dumb. Put some thought into it.

Love threads are not thriving... they are being deleted and are decreasing in number.

You have a really good point, but touching on what HellChildDami was saying, when you run out of somehting to post on a thread, there isnt a point in doing so, if you aren't going to contribute positively.

Okay I think its differently if you read a thread and are SINCIER or how ever you spell it about the thread being interesting.. but when I see the same people saying a thread is interesting over and over again and that what they normally say to move up.. it gets old.. think people...

well moonie good point but also take into consideration that some ppl are ridiculed if they say the wrong thing in threads protaining to the subject

I myself have read alot of the threads and yeah some are done over and over.

But for those few threads that I have learned things from or caused me to do reasearch (as in one thread I was reading the other night) I enjoy the information and I enjoy doing research to find out more.

So to those of you who do those wonderful threads I give my thanks and appreciation.

I so agree. The threads lately have been VERY good. They have made me think and research!! I am so glad people are starting to give some topics that many people can voice opinions on and not just what they like!!!

I was pleased to read the thoughts posted here, I am relatively new (at least feeling so) and am a very much into alternative views on life...specifically the occult and the unusual. Have bumped into a few threads that have some depth but not many. I hesitate to post because of the newbie feeling but will make an effort to do so. I want to learn, grow and maybe share a little of what I have learned along the way.

There will always be a mixture of threads, just like there are mixtures of conversation in real life. Sometimes people aren't in the mood for an in-depth discussion, however Im not endorsing things being monotonous and chatty, that can be done in messasging if wished.

Nobody is oging to like all the threads, but its a forum for everyone, so I suppose we ahev to take the rough with the smooth.

Yea I have noticed that a lot recently Moonie. It appears people just post any ole sorta stuff to put their raitings up. Some of the people even click on their own profile too (thousands of times!.. can you believe that?! ;)

The threads I like most make me feel like a winner. So please before posting a forum message, think "will this make Miz feel like a winner."

PS. Intelligence is intimidating: kookiness is entertaining.

an additional problem I have noted....
is that some of the actual thinkers who were here at the start have stopped coming....and the few i have been able to ask why have said because it is getting pointless.....too many stupids is a comment I have heard more than once from people who I thought actually used their grey matter.....but as has already been said...there is little that can be done about it...

The Forum is what you make of it. It is a reflection of the membership. If you want different discussion, create it (within the guidelines of the Forum).

In the beginning I started a lot of threads and headed others in certain directions. I can't do that anymore... Not if I am to keep up with site maintenance.

There are plenty of members here with the capacity to create intelligent discussion. Personally I'd like miz to start a thread about the history, prevalence, and modern-day influences of Wicca.

I would love to post some interesting threads but am afraid they may have been repeated more than once or may be too much of a thinking thread....I tend to no brain my way through the forums...I feel that if I think then noone will get what I am saying....lol...(I tend to ramble and get too deep..... go off on a tangent ...get back to the subject and argue myself out of my origonal point....LOL)

I think my biggest concern with the forum is that it is hard to find the worthwhile threads to fallow... I basicly scan the names of who has created the thread now to see if I even wish to bother to open it.... Which is a bad thing because I'm slowly unconciously filtering out positions that differ from mine by only looking for friends or people whom I respect threads. I think the forum just needs another area to post things that are not general discussion.... let all the roll call "what is your favorite color" threads exist there and the other area would be a vote up area where threads that recive votes based on user level go.... tho I guess if things were voted up the roll call threads would prolly be bumped up into the new area but it would still make it easyer to sort things.... having users determine the relevance of a thread

I'd say not to worry about the repetition Sunshine, I don't think Cancer or anyone expects us users to search through the archives before posting a forum thread to discover if the subject was discussed before. I believe that was even brought up in a thread a few months ago. Besides the membership is growing on a daily basis and what is old for others is new to them!

I say give people a chance with their posts.. not all can speak or spell perfect English either, and well we do have an international membership here. Pointing mistakes out that have been made by forum users in my opinion only detracts confidence from other users who may well have an intelligent contribution to make to our VR forum.

As often as threads like this pop up, other threads pop up where bitching is done about thread closures.

One camp wants a full unfettered Forum.

The other camp wants a heavily moderated Forum.

I don't try to make everyone happy. I try to do what I think is best for the future of Vampire Rave.

since all the 'touchy' stuff is off limits i haven't really seen anything worth jumping on to share my thoughts. i spend most of my time just lurking around.

wow I just participate there are some forums where i had to open up all lit notes or my history book etc.. like the one on the origin of the gothic subculture. that one i found very inlighting like any historical thread does benefit us on here. And there are other threads not thought provoking at all that i have perticipated in. for example I just recently opned a "love thread" to get the general idea of what people look for in a partner like criteria the partner should meet. I turned into a thread where people are saying they don't believe in love and so on. and well my original question is now not beign answered. I tend to disagree with echo's remark (Love threads are not thriving). because if formated right they could be as long as we don't end up going back to the overdone questioning the existance of love thing. I sometimes think i would be great to do the whole mind expanding thread thing. but it would have to be in a non chalant way and well i'd miss some of the humorous threads we've had on here.

I think that people are afraid of rejection and looking dumb. I mean there are a lot of really smart people on here, I have had the blessing of talking to many of them, but I think there are some people who just are worried that they do not have anything that intelectual to share.

LOlL Jason... It went noticed but sometimes my A.D.D would kick in and I'd forget to write the thread and start doing something else.

My thoughts have come to the point that the last of my four previous profile's and all the posts in the past I've put up were only hit by a small group of people. So I think WE should not be so quick to cast judgment as what intelligent threads are, but if ther is not a thread you see not fit, do some thinking of something you would like to discuss and post it instead of this constant bitching! I agree some people put, in my opinion dumb sh#t, but if you don't like it change it. Complaining is not going to get the problem solved, just make people more uneasy to post a thread for fear that Miz, Daire, or khay is going to hate everytime they see your name on screen! LMAO

Most of the time, I find that people already post the information that I possess thus making a response from me completely useless. I only speak when I believe I have something valid to say and stay in the shadows the rest of the time.

Cancer that is exactly the way I was thinking. We do as the VR community make this forum what it is.

I know people are going to complain about topics discussion so on and so forth. The RIP'ing of threads is going to happen if it isnt connected with the forum o in guidelines or, lets just be flat out blunt here, sometimes threads sound good to a person and it might be for awhile but, it might just suck and get closed.

I see some people complain over and over again bout the forum , threads and just how crazy some threads are. Which we all know some threads are just meh and some are just so informative you want to keep reading. It depends on people's moods I am sure.

But you can't complain if you don't post on the I'll say " thought threads" for lack of a better words. I know that some people have some kind of problem with putting pen to paper. It happens understandable. If you try it can't hurt. There is not a place were people can judge. We are all here and we all look different and write diffferently.

I do find it rather odd though.. Since some people see that you have to post in the forum to move up they have been posting.

To tell you the truth, I was a bit disappointed with the forum topics. I thought they would be more as to the origins of vampire myths and legends, the first vampire myth, etc. But, despite all the profiles that I have seen stating that they are unique individuals, I often find the same threads that so many other forums are plagued with: love, sex, movie watching, etc.

I'm not saying that these can not be good topics or should even be nonexistent, but I thought that there would be fewer of them for one reason or another. Regardless, I still stick to my original, personal, rule of "If I don't have anything intelligent or productive to say, I say nothing at all."

Most people, at least in greece, only want to improve their appearance not their minds. i totally agree that we're here to expand our minds. i've posted a "Vampire opinion" forum, and i'd like your thoughts on this.

Everyone above has stated many good things and we can sit here and type what we think but it comes down to a very simple thing. People choose to speak the way they want and answer the way they want. I bet some of the people here that do answer these threads with poor choose of words can answer them with some sort of intelligence, but maturity has some play in this as well.

Intelligence is only usefull if it is used correctly. If not all is for naught.

What I wanted to say with that obviously stupid and obviously repeated thread of mine is that what I said in my last message in that thread: It's you people who drown all the good threads because you post replies into them and when doing that you help that thread to stay on top!

There is a very simple solution how to keep a good thread on top: JUST IGNORE A STUPID THREAD!

I think that some people are so used to be laughed at, that they prefare to post a small response.Usually I don't speak english so sometimes I've got a prob with the language.It can also be laziness hehe.Anyway if you don't like the subject of a thread just ignore it,simple-_-

I think it is two or three things that make some people not respond to the intelligent threads. If this has been stated previously, I apologize. Anyway, reason one:

This is actually one of my reasons. I don't want to be made fun of or not have my point seen because of the way I state an answer. It's a bit of a fear of failure

Reason Two
The newer people, like myself, are afraid of the old VR members, I still don't completely feel like family here and until I do, I won't try to say too much.

Reason Three
People are just trying to level up

Don't be afraid of the older members, NightBlossum. Sometimes they know even less than you do. Other times, they can be a great source of knowledge. If you make a mistake or have wrong information, it is always helpful if someone points it out for you so you don't continue on in your life misguided.

I know that it can be hard to be corrected. No one likes to be told they're wrong, but if you learn from your mistakes, there is nothing to really fear because you will be all the smarter for being corrected.

I would love to write more in the forums but I have noticed that I do, at times, seem to preach a little. At lest it seems that way to me. If I do, please let me know.

I agree with all of you in the regards of speak out or forever hold your peace. In the last week or so I have been more open in the forums in the regards of I don't care if you laugh at me but tell me what I messed up on so I can correct the information in my head. Or vis-versa (sp?). I came to vr because I was looking for a more intelligent world but it's seems the most intelligent stay quiet or can't even get a word in edge wise.

Well said Kiros. People must show their intelligence we do come here to learn and teach others. There are a lot of young followers and leaders that must learn or teach there ways to others. The Elder's here must also lead or follow by example. There is a lot of information to be taught and learned. I hope we can gather by the masses like witches at black masses a little Black Sabbath (sorry) to offer and receive the knowledge out there !!

F! leveling up! I'll probably be stucked with specter next few months because I got a bit bored by the V.R. lately! :( First thing I do when I come to my job is to check V.R. Message Center and to take a peak into The Forum, I usually don't have enough time to reply right away and leave that part for later, but when I log in later, when I have time to reply, forums I highlighted for replying are somewhere on page 59 of thread list... I even don't look at comments to my profile anymore, because they are mostly "here's a 10, now give me 10!"... but that's kinda off topic... I wanted to say that I'll get stuck with specter because I'm ignoring all the boring threads and all the threads where people get easily offended if something sharper than:"I agree with you!" is posted!

well seems to me the whole leveling up thing does concern people and they would post anything or answer any post just to get the points. as for me i like forums and i could care less if it increase my stat or not. Its just sad to see people wasting the forum space

That was exactly my point Corazon. I don't know what makes it so good to be a Destroyer, for example? I admit that it really mattered to me for a few first levels, because you have limitations but when I reached the level where everything is allowed I cared to be accepted here and to try to present myself as someone from whom you can expect something more than "wow!","Yay!", "Cool!", to make people think or laugh, to react when reading my sentences. What's the point of making the cause that makes no effect?

And something that I forgot to mention in my previos post but what really makes my nerves tremble:And that is when admins post a thread with an announcement of a change made to V.R., then you can expect a list of applauses, "great idea!", "we love you!", "Hail to thee!", "marry me, oh great admin!" kind of posts. I mean it's admins job to improve VR, and I don't believe that they make changes only to impress us, so what's the point of posting a message that will be of no use to anyone, that is not a suggestion or an idea that will help improve that new change?! (oh, yes, I forgot the leveling up)

I do agree that we are here to learn from each other and escape from the people we pretend to be during the day but not some threads are for expressing how one feels about a certain subject wether it be about vampires or not we can still learn from each other but there is stupidity here

While we have a lot to learn from each other, we have a lot to teach too. There is one person running around the forum posting stupid things such as: Vampires: this is where you can talk about vampires, Who do you like on VR: this is where you can tell about your secret crush on VR, and Would anyone care if I killed myself. I finally got sick of the last one and told her to go ahead and do it. There needs to be a block against stupid pointless thread such as these.

Why can't we have a decent, intelligent conversation and then throw in a few laughs. That's what my friends and I do. We will have an intelligent conversation for hours that will be interrupted by the roar of laughter every few seconds. Intelligence doesn't have to be serious all the time. Just quit with these stupid "Are you afraid to rate a Premium Member" posts!
