Many believe in "paranormal" creatures. Many do not.
-if you do what do you think is real?
-if you do not explain why.
-And aside from the common and famous, Vampyres and Werewolves and all of them. Anything not so common can be mentioned too, please!!!! Thank you all. And don't for get to ask plenty of your own questions.
Mermaids are real.
Why do I think so?
Im here arent I? ;)
*looks up*
I feel the same way, after all, if Vampyres weren't real, then where would I be?
I believe that whatever people conceive as real is real. Like, I believe that there are vampires, demons and, yes, mermaids among other things. Therefore, in my reality, they are real.
It's other's decision if they want to join this reality with me and countless others.
As far as things we consider "paranormal",I lean towards the belief that things like empathy, telepathy, precognition and clairvoyance are natural to humans, and therefore "normal".When it comes to mythical creatures such as Satyres, mermaids and other creatures of the like,if we believe in the "God is an alien" theory, the creatures could have been products of genetic experimentation...
Dragons,on the other hand may very well have been dinos that were still alive when man came about.
There are so many different trains of thought we can take when thinking about this stuff!
I think what we see is our pure energy transformed on the other plane of existence to whatever we choose to be seen as, be it dark creatures or beings of light, or simply the shapes we see such as orbs and so forth. To me, paranormal really is normal. We just have yet to understand it fully to a scientific level but we're getting there.
I believe in big foot lol. But does he count as paranormal?
Also, I believe in spirits and all that good stuff :P
Well, I think mermaids, vampires, ghosts are real. While sometimes you cant see an ACTUAL ghost, they are there, but it is unknown unless your like.. a investigator.. person.. thing?..
1.) if you do what do you think is real?
I believe the mind will try to make you see and hear things, but yet sometimes people don't know how to handle something when it is real when it comes to Paranormal, and when they find the truth about it, it tends to make them freak out.
Me I do believe it's real due to the fact I have gone through it and i still do, have I gotten use to it? yes i have but sometimes it still catches me off guard.
2.) if you do not explain why.
well i would explain but yet there is just so much i can sit there and say and most would think I'm crazy, as I said i have been through it and still am, but those that haven't been through it, i believe those are the ones that won't believe..and if I am wrong here please correct me I don't mind at all.
Spirits, demons, angels, dragons, mermaid/men, naga, ad fae of all sort are things i mot definitely belive in besides vampires and were's
In any case a lot of the concrete evidence is lost and that which was saved was rather sketcky
I believe that their are Witches/Wizards, Ghosts, Demons, Vampires, Mermaids/Merman, and Also Dragons. Just because we can't see some of them, don't mean that they don't exist.
i believe many different types of paranormal creatures exist.
but ones i know for a fact exist are:
vampires
ghosts
poltergiests
demons
werwolves
witches
and wizards
there are many others i think could exist but as of yet i have found no proof
Witches Vampires and ghosts for sure and i believe satan works in weird ways !
Well having read the excellent hisory provided by Doru and Upir I take the following view.
Witch or vampire, oumpir all point to an ancient history of those who are different, probably hosts to other forms of life.
More intelligent, far longer lived, they steer mankinds progress. I think it is a mistake to hope we are invaluable forms of entertainment, we over estimate our importance. You did not have to be a genius to guess Jersey Shore was next but it helps to be told. I guess most people would call that paranormal.
Real or not real is how you depict things to be. For example if you believe in ghost then they exist if you do not believe in ghosts, then when something unexplained happens you try to rationalize it by saying something like oh it must have been the rain.
My biggest paranormal interest would be hauntings. I've had a few experiences myself that make me believe in spirits or ghosts. Crazy sh*t! I'm trying to get into a paranormal society myself so that I can be the one to investigate haunted sites. So fun!
What is the common denominator, the supernatural common thread across the ages, in all places , in all religions?
As mentioned above, let us examine the eye of the beholder- it is their truth, it is what "they" believe. Be they derranged, drunk or depressed.
Trusting a few such witnesses has never been reliable source of information, so we must sweep wider and only consider broad trends and realities.
So a Question what are common Paranormal denominators ? Are they dragons, evil ghosts or bigfoot ?
The subjects one finds in all religions on all continents are three fold, witches, prophets and vampires. NOBODY, has taken time to put them altogether for truly would be an almighty task.
I know the following to be real:
Vampires
Werewolves
Ghosts/Spirits
Demons
Angels
How? Personal experience.
I've been engaged to a vampire, and I went to school with one.
I'm good friends with a werewolf, he actually lives a few streets from me.
I've seen more than one ghost or spirit.
I've been possessed by a demon before, more than once. I know they exist, and I know most of them are no good.
I'm a mother to an angel, so of course I know they exist. I've also met one personified, and still talk to him.
As for other creatures, if I meet more I'll add them to that list.
I do believe that it is up to an individuals perspective. Some people might fear so they don't believe other can't find proof so they don't either.
But for those that do be it faith or personal experiences are free to do and think as they want. In no way can a person tell you you are wrong when they themselves are not you. Almost how people may say "Christianity is the only true religion". But as you compare all have the same base line.
•some higher power
•a place after death
•peace and rest
This is like comparing myths. Kappa water demons of asia who drown children and drink their blood, vampyres a type of demon that drinks blood. Almost every where on earth has myths about things beyond comprehension. It's up to you to believe.
I believe that a great number of our 'mythical creatures' are based on fact. After all there's no smoke without fire;)
Twistedwhisper I agree. But it is kind of like what came first the chicken or the egg? I mean someone had to start these beliefs they didn't just appear from smoke know what I mean?
Well, in the past a great number of common folk believed in all sorts of creatures courtesy of the Bible with their devils, angels, spawn of hell etc stories that is interspersed in that book (esp. the old testament).
Of course the stories in the bible doesn't account for the Indian myths or native American myths but perhaps their stories are based on real events that their people witnessed and have been embellished over the years. It's the old Chinese whispers effect.
Not to forget that as word spreads of things see or fabricated it can be blown out of perportion and made to seem as bigger than it acturally was.
So the saying is true if you believe in it then it exists. What if you believe but are still a skeptic?
the word paranormal means something that can't be explained by science.
one of the best programs about this is paranormal fact or faked files.
and this program takes a video sent in and they do experiments to see if it is a hoax.
one of the best ones was when they tried to prove a full appartion wasnt real and they did a night time investigation and they got proved wrong
I've never heard of that show, but there is a Scientific explanation for almost everything.
creatures do exist but they hide to avoid publicity, scientific dissection, and issues with humans like vampires and the blood lust thing
Those that said that paranormal Activity do not exist, do with a reason to suppress their fear of the unknown. Is more like when a children is afraid of the dark and the parents tell them to get under the cover and turn a tiny flash light on. Yes, there are different planes within the paranormal world, and we are one on them. Then, when those worlds, for some reason meet, the human involved go crazy (if doesn't believe and now in at a psycho unit taking Prozac) or is a believer who can understand that is a normal activity.
There is also such a thing that can cause us see ghosts,as well as feel them..its called infrasound.Around 18hz.
These standing waves can get trapped in old buildings and such for long periods and is proving to be present in many "haunted" places .
18 Hz. Cobble together a pitch detector, any computer with a microphone or even an iPhone, and go around looking for a spot with 18 Hz at it. If the amplitude is sufficiently high you will eventually feel "uneasy" and may even see a "ghost".
18 Hz is the resonant frequency of the human eye. When we are exposed to it,it causes the eyes to shake even though we might not realize it at the time .The brain attempts to make sense of what is going on and we end up with odd uneasy/queasy feelings ,chills/cold,with hairs standing on endand mild visual hallucinations. It can also cause us to feel like someone else is in the room.
I think to be sceptical is just wanting some form of proof. there is nothing wrong with that. I do believe you can be sceptical and believe at the same time.
I think what your going for Sam is a skeptic can be open to the concept, however until sufficient anomaly occur under optimal conditions (places without shadow movement, or static ambiance) then a skeptic with rationally conclude that nothing beyond normal occurred. For example as a child I had sleep paralysis and "felt a presence" in my room, even saw a" fuzzy creature". This made me a believer in ghost, then I eventually learned that neuroscience posted a journal about what subjects in a test said, and how the body (the brain) wakes up before the body. And the symptoms matched what I experienced. So my conclusion was rational, I also learned what accounted for the largest group of believers in ghost, and haunting s.
I believe in the 'paranormal' as I've seen things with my own eyes that cannot be explained by science. But on the other hand when I hear or see something that initially looks 'weird' I tend to look for a scientific explanation first as that is the most likely.
Hi Dabbler,
Oceanne's view is scientifically possible and can account for quite a few stories as I know that the brain does respond to differing frequencies therefore altering your perceptions although I am certainly no expert in that field. Just what I've seen in general knowledge documentaries.
Personally, sometimes I get feelings or impressions in most buildings or locations where there is a history, good or bad and I wasn't near any radio equipment. Sometimes I see things but that just runs in my family. Edinburgh was the city that really got my 'radar' on overload-especially MaKenzie's church.
@Sammanthawolf
Re:post I think to be sceptical is just wanting some form of proof. there is nothing wrong with that. I do believe you can be sceptical and believe at the same time.
I totally understand and agree with your comment skepticism does not mean doubt, or fear. It just means we would like better or at least more understanding explanations.
I beleive in demons and posession because I think evil is real in this world and they love to torment people.
I believe in ghosts, angels, demons, aliens and keep an open mind on many things. Just because something hasn't yet been proven doesn't mean it can't be proven or discovered. For years people believed the earth was the center of the universe. Now we know that is not true. Only human arrogance can claim to know all. With an open mind, I say anything is possible.
Ahem, I think I just did prove it, The Paranormal that is, that which science is unable to explain is clearly timed and dated above prior to events.
The journal entry dreams also described the tsunami and the fire, which your resident wizard took great interest in.
As regards the storms-
For those doubting Thomas types, let me explain the reference to Johnny Depp.
The storms that hit New York were a message and meant to be understood. In the Hollywood film Pirates of the Carribean MR Depp, a friend of our own Master Raimi, goes to the docks to steal the English Boat in the Harbour.
He tugs his forelock and tells the guards exactly what is about to happen, needless to say they do not believe him.
It is never easy to accept the Paranormal but history shows us even Kings and Queens respect Oracles, yet all I see is abuse. Which , frankly, is a blinkered Cop out.
There are many places on Earth that haven't been discovered, oceans / jungles ect. Many creatures that we know could have been creatures of myth's to older civilizations. I believe it's important to not believe everything you hear but always keep an open mind
Well there is a whole realm for Beings called "Otherkin"
So Im thinking that there has to be a reason for it.
right-
Paranormal is once agaian on ones own beliefs, do we see the spirits or do we see something our own mind has altered.
I believe there has to be more than death when we die. not just blackness and nothing, a fear that many do hold. yet do we become lost souls that travel on another plain reliving the life we once did live.
who is to say. many sides of the coin can debate the trueness or falseness of such claims. and more have become believers because of TV shows now promoting such illusions of spirits and the paranormal.
LOL GreenK..welcome back.
The precog you describe,I believe evey human on this planet does this,((mysef included)and that it isnt paranormal at all. Some people pay attention, and some dont.
Hey Twisted,do you happen to remember the names of those Docs you mentioned? I would like to see them,as all I have been able to obtain are the papers on it and results from my own research.
Also, someone mentioned a church..which incidently are some of the biggest culprits in this phenomenon..LOL I guess when they instaled those big pipe organs, they might have known how infrasound affects people.
I do believe in the paranormal from personal experiences
Now i know some people say if i cant see it or feel it then it does not exist ok well do you see or feel the oxygen that is all around ...not really but you know its there
*looks up*
Hi Oceanne, sorry what Docs did I mention?
sorry for being a bit tup, my head is full of my essay right now:)
Documentaries about how frequency affects the human body? I would like to see them.:D
If you know any titles,I would be grateful .
Good luck you your paper!
Lol, right. The 'documentary I saw was an episode of most haunted if I remember correctly a few years back. The crew preformed an experiment using various frequencies of sound to see the effects on the human psyche. The results were startling!
I have found interesting articles on:
http://www.meta-religion.com/Paranormale/Ghost/ghosts_created_by_low_frequency.htm#.UMDk64bDWLI
and http://mosthaunted-frequency.com/Entrainment_Technology.html
(can't do links sorry)
Not sure if these are of any use to you but the work is interesting:)
Thank you.Any of it is useful.I have researched this for quite a number of years..Tactical sound,LRAD.. infrasound making us see ghosts..all that. But had never seen any docs on it.
I would like to.
Paranormal.
I believe in the aspect of ghosts and unrestful spirits but mystical creatures...
I am on the rocks with that.
Won't believe it until I see it sort of thing.
;)
What about the idea ,that these hybrids might be a result of genetic manipulation by an alien race..perhaps even after the earth was terraformed? Far fetched, but something to think about.
I would like to think that at one time gargoyles protected those that they dwelled around. I have a fascination with gargoyles. Where did they come from if not from a hint of reality. Every myth has a hint of truth.
I believe in faeries, though I believe they give off bad energies. I also believe in ghosts, maybe a little more than faeries. I also believe in demons and how they can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes :3 so yes, I do believe in the paranormal lol.
I like to keep an open mind but I would not automatically believe someone at their word only.
Alien life forms is something interesting because the universe is massive and its likely that there may be another planet out there with life on. Of course without FTL no one will be going there anytime soon to prove it.
Lycanthropy and Vampirism actually are real life medical conditions, the suffers believe they are the creatures said in folklore and can be violent.
everything is possible, no matter how unlikely.
the current understanding of existence is limited - lack of "proof" can neither support nor deny the existence of the paranormal. after all the population of the world once believed that the world was flat - their inability to prove otherwise was did not make the belief reality
Now, I just want an Opinion on this. I took this picture of my small tree, and that's what I got, I took three others and nothing showed up. The thing is the front door was closed and there is no mirrors near or on the wall by the tree, and the sun was on the wrong side of the house. I dunno if it's Paranormal or not, but i thought it was cool but I would like to see what you guys think.

There was a thread with something like this but it was more like dots. Some people thought it was extra energy, or a spirit, or something like that.
Truthfully, I don't believe in the vampire that media displays. I think it's a lifeforbidden choice, and something that should be taken with much precaution. I believe in ghosts and the like, though. It just makes sense to me that souls would get stuck if they died with unfinished business, and stick around to try and get closure. Or perhaps something so horrific happened to them that they can't move on because that's where all their energy lies.
besides a lot of paranormal creatures that were mentioned I also believe in the sphinx both the Egyptian sphinx and the Greek sphinx
Oceanne agree why couldnt the ancients havent created most of the paranormal creatures we see hear today
and was the tsunami that destroyed Atlantis nature or created by another race of beings
I believe in UFOs.. seen more than a few I couldn't even explain on what they were....
I do believe in vampires just look at the non famous people Erzse'bet B'athory she feed @ lived by the human blood @ last Vlad..
Put your cameras away, you cannot use the medium of light to capture what is hidden in the darkness. These spectrums are sometimes captured by the the eye, or human brain but only by those gifted enough to see other realms.
Just because you cannot capture them by conventional means does not mean they do not exist.
Only those turned and tuned into the darkside can catch a glimse, they are the shadows described by Tolkien.
How did he see this? probably by the use of weed, this leading mathmetician makes several references to his love of the hobbit leaf in his texts. Indeed, his master Saruman berates him for his "overuse" stating the halflings leaf had slowed his mind.
So true, it can slow time down but only for some. So, for you you theoretical physicists and biologists an observation. There is the mundane light side, the darkside, and herbal substances that are neither.
I find it interesting that Tolkien recognised the dark wizard Saruman" Should have known better" when referring to plants that are neither light nor dark.
He put down in words, riddles and secrets that his peers would never speak of. Or perhaps it was just a great work of fiction? I will let you readers be the judge.
Read his works that were a parody of World War 1 and remember his position before making final judgment. I think he realised there are parralel universes that sometimes touch our own. This touching is what we ignorantly refer to as...magick. T.G.K.
Paranormal as far as mythological creatures ate concerned I do believe they can exist. I am not saying I have has the pleasure of seeing such creatures but how could many different cultures come up with almost identical creatures with varying names but only minute changes as far as appearence and abilities go. Those with closed minds are less likely to see them because if they were to their minds would brush it away as a trick of the light or even try to make a logical explanation for seeing such creatures by claiming delusions, paranoia, lack of sleep and many other things.
there has been proof of mermaids but they dont look anything like how we see mermaids on tv
and also vampire bones one of the first vampires was a princess
I will begin with a quote that shows my standpoint quite accurately:
"In the infinite space there are infinite numbers of worlds inhabited by an infinite number of beings."
(Helmuth von Glasenapp, "Buddhism")
Our plane of reality is just one of many layers of the universe, it's a narrow frequency band, similar to one radio station. The funny thing about it is that our reality is not fixed and solid, actually it's full of holes that other beings and us use to jump across.
So which beings are real ? I bet most of them are but only some are able to manifest in our reality. People who were able to visit other planes mention all sorts of beings: famous McKenna's machine elves, humanoid creatures, insects, reptillian creatures, angels, demons, greys, giants, watchers, orbs etc.
Some might say that many experiences involving encounters with 'others' are only manifestations of their own subconsciousness. Ok, but isn't subconscious the doorway to superconsciousness ?
There once lived a man named Stefan Ossowiecki who had many paranormal abilities. Among them he was able to manifest objects out of thin air, make spirits appear and so on (documented on photographs and witness testimonies). Sai Baba was able to materialize objects too. This might mean that we are able to manifest or conjure all sorts of beings.
In another scenario let's say that a powerful group of skilled scientists started tinkering with genetics. They would be able to create any kind of being that's based on DNA. If a mouse with a human ear on it's back is real why wouldn't a vampire, werewolf, mermaid or centaur be real ?
Mythology and sacred texts from all around the world talk about these creatures. In Sumerian myths the Annunaki/Nephilim created humans as workers but before they figured out the formula they made a lot of other beings. If memory serves me well one of the glyphs shows humanoid (Nephilim) holding another creature on a leash - it had horns, hoofs and a tail. Sounds familiar ?
Greek mythology is also full of strange creatures that could also be created by gods using genetic manipulation.
@DevilsDelight - about that photo. The trail is out of focus which means it was something close to the lens. It could be a fiber but I'm not sure.
I think this world is filled with many things, and yes Paranormal.. How can we be the only thing thats exists.
Ghosts, demons, angels, and vampires are very real.
The Greek Daemon was the best description of all, it mean spirit messenger to the gods. And the later word Angelus is also from the Greek but that took on the meaning of an ethereal being.
They are here and have always been, the issue of most is that they do not know how to see and listen. It is not from not wanting to see but not knowing how.
Hope that helps. Good stuff here.
As far as Paranormal goes I'm with the firm belief that there is other "worldly" things among us. As to say what is anyone's guess. Why would we be the only "things" to exist?
Anything can be real if thoughts make it so.. Tulpas, if you know about them.
Saying that.. I believe in different dimensions and beings that cross to this side and back to theirs at whim or call.
I've seen it. I know without a doubt that any evil figure is real; as long as any good one. If people believe in anything long enough, it appears.
Saying this, I will go along with the thread and say without a doubt a few beings that exist:
ghosts, demons, poltergeists, angels, shadow people, hell-hounds.. if you love the jinxed shit this site desires.
I can't type anymore, I'm sighting..
I've been "lucky" enough to see an array of beings in my short lifetime.. Without experience, I wouldn't say deal with them or try to find them. . They hold power all in themselves.
