I hear that most people today don't believe in vampires so i only ask do u believe in vampires or not
I dont see how you will find anyone in this group that says no to your questions.. That is why we are all here..
Actually there are a few people here I have met who do not believe, they are just here doing nothing productive, maybe to learn but some are here just to cause problems.
Franky:
I'm reallly sorry for disappointing you since I really think you're very intelligent but I have to say that I don't believe in vampires, I do understand the human fascination for them. I found the fantasy quite interesting and even necessary for some. But vampirism for me is not more than a fairy tale. ( And those who speak about stealing energy and mind control and all that good stuff, I don't question it as a reality but "vampirism" is just the label (name) for it. It has nothing to do with the idea that most of the people in this site have.
I respect your opinion, Darkthrone. You may believe that we merely label it as vampirism, and that is your choice. Personally, I don't believe in the mythological vampires either.
Obviously, I believe in vampirism, as in psy/sang, as I have been teaching and learning about them since I joined this site.
I dont believe it is a fantasy. I think its real and its fascinating to me. I am here to learn. Learn real things not fantasy things.. No offense.
La muerte:
No doubt you have a good understanding of what you say. But it seems to me that most of the people in this site found their "vampiric foundation" on fictional characters.....mainly brougth by movies like"Interview With the Vampire" or even worse, "Queen of the Damned"....Such a romance...such a beauty.
I believe in the reality of etherically based vampirism. I practice it so I'd have trouble not believing in it from that end..despite what a few broken records on this forum believe. I do not, however, believe in the popularized idea of what a vampire is.
- D
You seem to base your own human opinions. on the movies and don't understand that there is much more, very real things in this reality that you don't understand...
No Darkthrone, you are responding to me and my thread. Do not take that out of that thread please. It had its time and it is done. And i wish not to argue outside of the appropriate circumstances.
Enigma,
You mind letting us now who's statement that last post referred to? You were a little vague.
- D
There is so much more that I have not yet to understand.. I havent even scratched the surface and I am loving it. I actually feel alive. But I can say I certainly believe,,
It was directed at Darkthorn's...Your's came in as I was sending my post...
It's obvious we have different opinions on this matter. I might suggest that for the sake of argument we accept that vampirism is a occurence based in energy manipulation at base. Just to keep it in perspective so we're all on the same page. I'm sorry, but the question is a bit fuzzy if we don't know what type of vampire is being referred to. Fictional or modern, so to speak.
- D
Ay come on people!. All of us know what we really are. I'm not against fantasy. On the contrary that's part of humankind and part of our reality. Everyone has their own reality. I agree with that.... but
Wake the hell up!.
Look at the World! and look at yourself!. Don't look for more excuses to hide what you really are. Face yourselves!
Your f..... idealization of a vampire would certainly appreciate it.
Someone block Darkthrone, she is being obnoxious, counter productive, NOT here to learn, and is annoying the heck out of me
I hate to say I am lost with this thread all of the sudden. It almost seems like every thread I have seen you on you are putting someone down or a belief down. If that is the case, why. Why would you feel the need to knock someone elses beliefs..
I feel that Darkthrone is as entitled to her opinion as anyone else, not withstanding that I agree with the point which she makes.
Face yourself and know yourself, rather than try to define yourself with a reflection of popular culture.
Blackthorne can stay closed minded if she chooses, but I don't think she needs to try to force her narrow minded view on the rest of us...
I am sorry stabb but she is following me and using argument from other threads that dont have anything to do with this one, that is what irks me, oh well, if you say so, I'll shut up about it.
I feel she should be able to speak as well, I just wish she would make herself a little clearer on what she is saying.. They seem to be a one sentence answer..
I really wish I could support Darkthrone on this, for I love her angry realism.
Eh, hell with it.
We're talking natural vampires (sangs, energy thieves) versus unnatural vampires (use your imagination).
For the most part I go with my Bigfoot mentality; I'll believe it when I see it. Unfortunately I have seen eyes turning black and teeth that just won't stay in their pink gummy homes. That equals unnatural. That's just my opinion, though, I'm sure there's a nice scientific natural explanation
Can you hear me laughing? I sure can.
BloodHell,
I am also not asking you to 'shut up'.
The point is that difference of opinion exists. Get over it. Darkthrone should not have anyone else's belief forced upon her either.
Does no-one see the value in having a counterwieghted argument with which to balance opinion?
We all need more folks like Stab666 around.
Probably I like Darkthrone because she reminds me very much of a close friend of mine whose prime directive is to argue, and she gets very passionate. She's not actually trying to hurt people, she's just an architect trying to build a church of ideas.
Although she gets very pissed with folks who won't argue back. ;)
I dont think that there needs to be an argument, there is no reason, everyone has a right to their opinions. I just wish she would explain herself better.
I agree...Everyone has the right to base their own opinions on their beliefs...It is very interesting to see how differring some opinions are on this subject...
I think she says what she means very well...once you get past the cursing, that is. lol
Just gotta read between the lines, whatever that means.
all i have to say is that if you dont believe look around you.
there are many things in this world that we believe could not exsist but they do! am i right! i know i am
if you try to tell me that humans and animals are the only thing on this plant you will ruin my day. htere is other stuff here and if that scares you RUN AWAY AND HIDE UNDER YOUR BED OR THEY WILL GET YOU!
Uohhhhh... A threat about me now? I kinda like it....
Besides I'm talkative tonight (you guys have noticed that my posts are usually short and even have acused me for it) and if I'm giving my opinion so passionately it is because some of you guys remind me how I used to think. .... 8 years ago! I find this debate quite interesting.
There was a threat? Aww, I missed it. It must have been kind of cute.
Very interested in seeing the response to the 8 years ago question.
darkthorn i'm sorry to brust your bubble but there ar people who a follow the way of vampires
I wouldn't think she'd be here if she didn't follow it too in some way...
To reiterate what I believe Stab already said, she's saying "Know thyself". A person can hide behind anything they choose, be it vampirism or, hell, chocolate chip cookies. Some people take it too far, that's all.
To be quite honest, I'm rather dissapointed that the topic seemed to have swayed. It is good to have differential opinions of things and to discuss them in a MATURE manner. I work with 15 three year olds every day, some of you really need to act your age and not like the 3 year olds I work with.
Moving on now, I believe that there are things in this world that no one can explain. That icludes vampires. But since the question was not as specific as I would like, I cannot give a more definitive answer.
TO ALL OF YOU:
What it changed was that I became aware of the lie I was living in. Trying to look for an escape from my own powerlessness. I recognized myself as the creator of all MY world. I also recognized my existence as the only thing I'm sure of, therefore all who I am, what I perceive, what I think.
I commited myself to the knowledge of my own beign. Then again I understand the reason for fantasy. I consider it necessary for living. I actually consider it as part of reality. What I cannot stand is people trying to deny themselves... hating their own blood....Betraying themselves..... That itself shows a lot of weakness and lack of self control ( things that, to my understanding, are priority for your fictionalization of vampires). One of the principal things for reasoning is to understand the reality the way it is. That establishes a lot of power itself.
The good thing about how I think is that I'm HAPPY. Not needing any supernatural force to come to rescue me. I do control my fantasy and I'm not my enemy. I actually help myself to live the way I deserve to.... And my brain is my God. It's mine!
I'm glad you have found your happiness...I may feel you are going in the opposite direction from the Truth, but it's your Mind, and if that works for you, so be it...
Enigma:
What truth you're talking about?
There is no actually any truth!. We are INDIVIDUAL beigns. Everyone shapes their own truth.
Precisely the way to knowledge is based on the capability for amazement, finding new things every single day. There is no truth or logic in the world. You find truth or logic in yourself. You better!
Your priest-like comments are suffocating me....
Bingo!
YOUR truth.
So I'm not going in any opposite direcction from any truth!. ... Actually I'm quite straight... (in my opinion).
Yes, you have been stating your opinion...which has lead to a varied discussion...Nothing more...
So shall we all get back on topic then? ;) Debate like mature adults it is an interesting discussion. All opinions and thoughts are welcomed as long as its not argumentative or going in the direction of becoming a flame war. ;)
All of this spouting of about "your Truth" and "my Truth" is frankly a sickening display of intellectual paupery.
If you believe that Truth is relative to each person then you open yourself up to an infinite variety of ethical dilemmas. Why not read what some of the greatest minds ever known have written on this?
I do not believe in this particular case that Enigma was being "priest-like" at all.
Darkthrone, it is indeed essential that you have found your self-sustaining power. I commend you. It is as crucial to existence as drawing breath. But empowerment cannot be seperated from the Truth.
We are all unfortunate children of the so called Enlightenment where reason is the measure of all things. Yet so many times rationalism/reason and empiricism collapse in the face of that which exists and cannot be explained by these same rational means.
I am going to stop there. If anyone wishes to discuss the ethical problems of relative Truth, then let me know. It could be a great thread. Other than that, it is best I end this part of my reply.
I have my own views on the existence of vampyrs. I think I shall keep that belief to myself - in THIS particular thread for now.
I think it would do everyone here well to step back and regroup. Many here are skirting the ad hominem argument. Tactically is is amateurish at best and leads to chaos and an obsfucation of the issue being argued.
VladVoivode
Clarification: By skirting the ad hominem argument I mean that many are getting to CLOSE to it. Stay far from such attacks. Nothing good ever comes from them.

I have said this a couple times on this website and I want to share it once again.
Everyone has a perception, and that perception is their reality- it's something that people should be mindful of. I respect those realities that belong to all of you.
Back to the question - the reason of this thread... I do not believe in fictional vampires, I totally dig 'em and love the fantasy however. I am a writer and live in my imagination most of the time, so they only help my creativity.
As for those people living a vampiric existence- I do recognize that as a valid life.
But just so no one is confused- there is a serious number of members here who do NOT believe in human vampires. And there are people here who claim to not be human at all. This site is filled with people who stand on all sides of the fence- that fence being more like a hexagon because the perceptions are that varied if not more.
I have to agree with Darkthrone on this one. The actual "vampire" was a mythological character created by Bram Stoker based on Vlad the Impaler who never once was recorded as drinking blood. The "vampires" mentioned in the old times all across Europe and America were thought to be that because in those times alot of the things that made them "vampires" were things the people didn't know of then. It was found out in later history that that was the case.
I think that alot of people have picked up wanting to be a "vampire" from the things they have read(i.e books) and seen(i.e movies) in history and that is how real life "vampires" came about. I am totally into vampires and that is why I am here. Not because I think I am one. We all know that the "vampires" of today have no powers like the original "vampires". I said this before: they don't fly, they can't change into animals, they don't melt when you throw holy water at them, a cross doesn't burn them, they don't live forever and they can see themselves in mirrors.
I do believe in blood drinkers, which I am sure alot of you are. Blood drinkers have seemed to adopt the title of "vampire" since ''vampires" in history have drank blood. But in the actual recorded sense of the word "vampire" that is just mythological. I think if the "vampire" was never created and it was just found that certain bats drank blood then we would be referring to one another as "bats" instead. I think it's just a nickname for something that we do.
If my thoughts on this subject was put in to words, It is pretty much what whisper just wrote. She said it brilliantly. *applauds*
For some it is the blood. That is a blood fetish, no more. For others, it is the energy in the body. That is a vampyre. Vampirism is not a creature, it is a way of living by using energy from others. Not living forever as we all know. Not flying and changing shape as we all know. That is impossible. We merely need more energy because we were born with a deficiency, that is all. That is my view and understanding. It takes self realization in my own mind to see truth. However, as with religions, I will say this. No one is right, no one is wrong. We are different. Nothing more. Nothing less. If you live life trying to see good and bad, right and wrong, you will see both in all you do. If you do not see things in this way, you will not. Simple and to the point. Right? Yes Vampires are real and right. By someones standards. Wrong? Yes vampires are hideous or stupid people. By someone elses standards. That is all there are. Standards and points of view. Wow, sorry. I rambled a little there. Oh well, thats my view of things of this sort.
i do for reasons of believing in myself..but what i know is that peoples have different perceptions on what a vampyre is and what it isnt..and with those perceptions, i think its changes the belief if the existance or not
i dont believe in "movie" type vampires, supernatural. but i still like vampires.

No... Bram Stoker published Dracula in 1897. He did not invent vampires. The word vampire came into the English language in 1732. Maybe I am mistaking what you are saying- but I do know from historical facts- vampires were a fear of re-animated corpses of human beings prior to Stoker's Dracula. And even prior to 1732, there were words for 'vampire' in other languages. Bram created his novel using these facts and folklore and gave a new spin to Vlad, who was just a person in reality.
By the way- prior to 'Dracula', there was 'The Vampyre', a short novel written by John William Polidori in 1819. This was the first true fictional vampire story. Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' has been the definitive description of the vampire in popular fiction since.
People living the vampiric existence today as many on this website are not turning into bats and being burned by holy water and all that jazz because THAT is only part of the fiction. I wish there was another word for their human vampirism- because all too often people who are not familiar with it mistake it for the fictional accounts- it is different in many ways. This I know- although I am not a vampire in any way.
this has been an age old ? for many years and i for believe they are real cos i am one
I belive that there are people who classify themselves as a "Vampire" and or who practice "Vampirisim."
Thank you imagesinwords! You saved my fingers from cramping.

Alright.... I can totally understand people not believeing in Vampires and other "creatures" because its hard to believe in something you wouldnt necessarily begin to understand. I personally blame it on the media because they romanticize the Otherkin, and make it so hard to believe that such things exist. thats the way with anything having to do with magick or the supernatural, you dont get it... it dont exist.
I personally believe in it all. i do struggle to listen to the people who through around the names found in any anne rice novel because those people discredit themseves by doing so. Anne Rice is a good author but just that.
If someone were to take away the fae and the lycans and the vampires this world would be a pretty dull and depressing place... and the things ive seen in this life and in the lives ive had before tell me that theres more to this world than meets the eye.
I most definately believe in vampires...I dont believe in Hollywood portayal of Vampires though
if I did not belive in vamps I would not belive in my self.
Of course vampires are real, maybe not to a mythological reasoning like flying, or crusafex's but they are there and they are in numbers.
To answer the posts question....yes.
Not in the glamour of the movies, or books...not in the romance of the stories. But in the facts that nearly every continent has some fable on vampires...that there are known medical issues that make people crave blood, and even feed off others emotions. That something so widespread, before the age of TV, radio and the Web, must have some factual basis behind it. I believe in what I have seen and done. I trust my own eyes and senses.
As a medical disorder I`ve never heard of people feeding with other`s emotions, only of people with severe lack of red cells and plasma craving for substitutes of blood... A good book about feading with emotions is "Cruel Game" (or something of that resort) by Robert Silverberg.
I like to believe in vampires as represented by Anne Rice`s books... But i didn`t have a real proof of vampires of that sort
I would think so if they are nothing like what people claim them to bebut yeah i'd think they exisit and possibly have a hand in the government some how.
Eh, nobody listens to the crazy people. It's better that way, anyway. lol
Who knows if what I saw was 'real'. Maybe an electrical current misfired in my brain. That would be nice.
Some mental disorders feed off others emotions. There are also people who deliberately harm others to gain the satisfaction.
i do belive in vampires..they do exist somewhere ..someplace ..they're out there.
yeah im a believer... im not putting a limit on how much i believe in them cos u never know i guess
I believe 100% but others here no they dont believe. Why are they here is a good question though. We should kick down their door and ask them. Sorry Im in a crappy mood.
Of Course I believe in Vampires... Why do you think I am here? I definately have to be... I am kind of romantically involved with one...
Vampire, is a generic term now. therte are those like me that drink blood, an have sensitivity to sunlight, so i am a vampire as far as im concerned. the fangs, are for show (but arnt thay great!). im not immortal nor can i fly. the vampire term covers so much gray area that it seems now we must be more specifick when saying are vampires real. tyhe people that just live the vampire life styl, are thay any less real than a man like me that actuly drink blood? thats the real qustion
Well, actually, the real question depends on one's definition of a vampire. If you believe in the living, psy/sang vampires, then your opinion will be different than if you believed in the immortal undead vampires, or if you simply believe that following a lifestyle makes you a vampire. Personally, I only acknowledge those of the condition as actual vampires. Lifestylers are just posers to me, and the immortals/undead don't exist.
then we are on the same page, but i respect every ones point of view
